Creating Belt Buttons - Question

My pleasure. If you go this route just be sure to test a couple different sockets as none are created equal. -
TK-16468 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status (Anovos) [652]
ukswrath replied to Garraxo's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Welcome Harald. Thank you for your EIB application, let's get started. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos are present. Beautiful job on your build sir, you've made our job very easy. That said, your armor displays all the elements required for Level 2 Badge. Congratulations and welcome to Expert Infantry!! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by us and your fellow troopers. Suggestions made here are to improve the overall look of your armor .If these suggestions would effect an application they will be mentioned in the above or below sections. The only areas we would suggest you revisit are the Hovi screens where the mesh appear to be too coarse. They should look more like this shown here in this reference photo. Another area in question though not a huge deal, is the left side of your sniper knee, is does not follow the same line as the right side. With the Anovos armor you should be able to line up both sides evenly. It's suggested that you correct the concern however, if making this repair puts you at risk of damaging your armor then you'll have to outweigh the risk. As we always say, accuracy is ultimately up to the builder Reference photo Centurion Suggestions: In this area we try to prepare you for Centurion. Any needed corrections will be posted here. We have nothing to add. Great job! -

I used a similar technique but heated up the end of a 10mm socket, easier to control in opinion. Came out quite nice -

Starfox2010's TFA Stormtrooper Build
ukswrath replied to Starfox2010's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Bondo doesn't flex enough and paint may develop cracks in the future. Most good glazing putty, especially the type with built in hardener has a 60 degree flex radius where bondo doesn't. Especially on the yoke, avoid bondo, Build up any heavy holes or valleys with plastic welder then use glaze putty for every where else less than 1/8" thick. -

Looking good Drew, looks like you've been given some good pointers. BTW you look like a lizard shedding its skin lol JK. Talking about protecting the armor to the bitter end, that's commitment. -

The Absolute Best Way to Fix a Cracked Yoke?
ukswrath replied to darthaldernu's topic in TFA Stormtrooper
1) Remove any high spots from the inner yoke layer. 2) Using a piece of cover strip material cut and shape it to extend 2" on each side of the crack (even over the existing yoke layer) creating a reinforcement piece. 3) Hot water boil the new piece for 1 minute. 4) Using both hands with gloves take the soften cover strip material and firmly press it onto the area. It should form to the terrain. You may need to repeat this process a few times. 5) Once your satisfied scuff up the existing yoke sections and the new reinforcement piece, apply plastic welder then install the new section. 6) Allow to cure several hours or until mfg specifications. 7) Afterwards, using a dremel and dig out the crack 2mm on each side (stop at the glue). 8) Sand away any paint in the area. 9) Add plastic weld in the new joint. 10) Sand, add filler, sand again, primer and paint as needed -
Excellent work on the holster mounting. Everything is looking awesome.

Innocent until proven guilty, I couldn't agree with you more. Though some may have a point to prove we the staff have warned people about making wild accusations of recasting on build pages on many ocassions and yet here we are. Let me remind everyone AGAIN!, if you have a beef with someone's armor, contact them directly or post another thread discussing the issue. A person's build page is NOT the forum to air your disdain. Returning to the regular scheduled discussion...

Hey Peter, you've done a fabulous job of making armor for you kids, that's what you should be proud of. Note: Any new armor that could be perceived as recast will set of alarm bells driving all those that have an opinion to sound off, welcome to the FISD In all seriousness being accused of recasting is taken quite seriously here however, you have a couple options. Enjoy the armor you've made for your child and do not sell it for profit eliminating the need to appease the naysayers ... OR... produce photos showing the development and all aspects of your process in hopes it calms nerves, satisfies doubts and most importantly, proves your innocence. I for one like to believe everyone is honest, unfortunately that's not the case. From time to time we have to deal with recasters trying to sell their version of armor here or elsewhere. If they can't prove that it's pure sourced then it's labeled. Try not to take it too personally. You've done a wonderful job on the armor for your kids, in my book your a cool dad
