  4. Yes I have though about the Camelbak idea, but the feeder tube is quite thick and I don't have the space in my neckseal to be comfortable. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Hi and Welcome to the FISD Are you 5' even or 5 something, also your weight will help us guide you in the right direction. As far as armour for the slimmer trooper goes, AP (Authentic Props) suits a 32" waist and can be made to fit a wider girth, but the arms and legs will suit up to 5"11. You can trim down your shins and thighs for shorter length. Some of the armours like AM are designed for the larger trooper in all dimensions. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Well done. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. You can reduce them, I reduced mine, but I don't think you need to remove them, they also help to keep the pieces aligned and stop possible overlapping. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. You can build one more accurate than that one for less. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. I love my AP armour, and Mark is awesome to deal with, nuff said. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Looking good, and as The5thhorsemans images indicate, you have to flatten one side a little. If you are worried about over heating or bending the sniper plate itself, there is another way that a very wise man told me when I was doing mine (Gazmosis) heat the ridge of the shin and push it out to the sniper plate, as it will be hidden behind. It was a handy tip so I slightly bent both to meet half way. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Are we weird?

    Are we weird?

I say embrace the inner nerd, we do good globally, 501st is an inspiration to many . The ones that really count are the countless thousands we help with everything we do in our costuming club, and the fact is , they certainly appreciate us. I feel your friends are just having some fun with you, and they truly don't understand the difference you can make to someone's life. We are united in this cause, and you have more friends than you know. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  15. The AP sniper plate is a difficult fit, you will have a gap in the middle and yes they do sit crooked so no stress . I used Zappa gap to glue mine on but first I clamped one side on and used a heat gun to bend the plate a little to get the ridges to line up better on the opposite side. Then Zappa gap one side and clamped it, hit it with zipp kicker. Left the clamp on to make sure, then zap pagan on the opposite side and held it tight together for a good minute, put a clamp on it and took the opposite clamp off to check the bond. The centre back on the sniper was touching the front cover strip so I hit the edge with Zappa gap and she is on there for good. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Nice work, don't forget to paint the rivets. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Just run it across the cover strip and onto the two haves and it will hold the strip in place. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. I find that once you clamp a couple of strips of the non coloured painters tape stops the drift from occurring. Also known as masking tape, or you could use cella tape just no colour incase of glue and colour bleed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. I can't bend very far forward in mine either. I do think you will need to shorten the shins a little, as to the thighs well if your cod/ab plate is going to sit higher than it is in the photos, you may get a little more mobility but as it stands, think thighs need some off the top. At the end of the day you need to be comfortable as well as look good. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I like. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. If you feel your shins are too long, yes trim the bottoms slightly and see if that all you need to do. It is the easier trim to start with. Thighs, if you trim from the top, you will remove the return edge, in some cases it is the only way to get them to fit, and if you are game you can try and reform a new return using a crafting iron. Can you please post an image of you wearing the legs so we can get a better idea of how they sit with the notches trimmed. As to the shimming of your kidney, you will need to glue a strip of ABS on the inside, to give some material to glue the outer piece you will need to start taking up the gap. Shim equally on left and right side, and think of it as an internal cover strip to join to pieces so they sit flush. Then you need to make some ABS paste. Use your abs trimmings and cut off and mix them in a jar with a small amount of acetate, it will melt the abs down to a paste. Apply this to the join you will see on the outside of your kidney sided where you have glued on the extensions. When it's dry, carefully start to sand the excess off moving to a finer and finer sandpaper. Once sanded smooth polish it up and your shim is complete. There is a thread so where on here that goes through the process with picture that will make far more sense to you. Best of luck and post those leg images. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Also, do all your test fitting with your compression under suit on as it will make a minor difference to the fit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Ok, no return edge at all at the wrist end. One place you could leave, or should I say can leave the return edge is at the elbow end on the outer half. If you left it on the inner where you bend your arm, you are going to get armour bite. (Skin gets pinched between bicep and fore arm) and it hurts. As to the fitting of the forearm, again at the wrist end it should be a squeeze to get your hand through. You want your armour to fit you well and not be too loose, and yes the forearms may seem a little short so nothing to worry about there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
