  1. The boots TrikToys sells are not 501st acceptable. These boots also are not 501st acceptable: --------- These are actually just mariachi boots he's reselling. Any GML who approves either pair ought to lose their stripes. You really only have three choices for boots: 1) Get a pair of jodhpur boots (you can get them most anywhere) and dye them white 2) Get a pair from Caboots 3) Get a pair from dan111h2o * bonus: pray to the almighty that a pair of Mark Cheng's in your size appear for sale in your lifetime
  2. I used to think the ab plate was always just once piece since that's how TE2 & AP kits come. But I saw this posted on MEPD, and you can clearly see that regardless of how the molds were made and what the stunt performers did, the Hero suits sure had cut the cod. It's also a great shot of showing Luke's cut chest piece. Notice how all the ab plate buttons are showing. EDIT: photo courtesy of TrooperMaster
  3. Wow - looks like the best solution so far. Can't wait to hear how it works out
  4. Be wary of buying parts like that - usually only recasters sell on the *Bay or via "garrison friend specials". You can buy from the person you got your FX from if you trust them. Else there's always Deckard on these boards.
  5. That's the most BS excuse for a GWL that I've ever heard. The person was appointed to do a job. They need to do it or else they're being very unprofessional. I mean, it shouldn't be hard. Heck - look at this det who photoshopped like 5 Elite in 5 days. What's this guys excuse?
  6. I've heard them called "armor kisses". I get them in the inside of the elbows too, but so far that's the only place.
  7. I'll say again that my observation is that this varies quite a bit from person to person. Also, if you're tired enough, you'll find a way to sit (ask anyone who marched in the Rose Parade). I've done it to one kit and not another, and have the same freedom of movement and ability to sit. The truth is that these suits were designed to look good, not be comfy. The more comfy you make it, the more you need to trim and the less accurate it can become. My $.02...end of line.
  8. Great to hear David! Here's to the next wave of brave fellows willing to show their quality! :pint1:
  9. Sure thing Paul (like your name ). Don't forget to remind your GWL to do their job and get your picture posted. 8 months is way too long...
  10. Yeah, the pants get covered by the thigh. Actually I got my shirts converted by TK4205 to include the neck seal. Worth every penny For Seattle it's nice to have two sets - normal gear and cold gear.
  11. Not sure I can wait that long. Seeing all this AP stuff makes me get ready to put my FX TD up for sale sooner than later.
  12. Not debating, but do you really want to be breathing through fiberglass?
  13. I've had an excellent experience dealing with him, as have members of my garrison. The parts that I got were good quality and easy to put together. He's very reputable.
  14. There are as many opinions on adhesive as there are troopers. I prefer ABS cement. Clamps, lots of clamps. You'll also need 1" black elastic strap to make straps with. Also, lots of snaps and a snap pliers. You'll need a rivet gun sooner or later and some white aluminum rivets w/washers. At the least you'll probably rivet on the sniper plate and right thigh ammo belt. But trust us, you'll find more reasons to use it. If you get a dremel do invest in a good cutting wheel (link around here somewhere). As mentioned for the rest of the items...take a deep breath, get a cup of coffee, and prepare to spend several hours (days?) doing research on this site. There are literally thousands of posts made by members over the past few years, and it's not possible to soak up all that knowledge in a short period of time.
  15. That rule is more when people have stuff and to avoid the Walmart folks (they're looking to get kit but not be part of the 501st). For hyperfirm you can contact slave1pilot on here or the MEPD boards. For a replacement bucket it's what strikes your fancy. Some really like the MRCE, some don't.
  16. Info about what? There are many different helmet options out there. There are many different blaster options out there. Can you be more specific? Also, why the need for the PM? Detachments are for sharing info, not obscuring it.
  17. And this is the golden rule my friend of everything in this hobby, or in any hobby for that matter. A rare Pez dispenser may be worth hundreds of dollars to a collector, but would probably be thrown in the rubbish bin in my house. Prices rise and fall over time too. I've seen the exact same item sell for between $400 and $700 depending on the auction. Sometimes there's a lot of people looking for it, sometimes not.
  18. Thanks - makes more sense now...
  19. Holy crap - $480? Did you buy direct? Was this a completed helmet? Man, that's an awful pretty penny - hope it's from the real AP and not a recast.
  20. I don't have any first hand knowledge about the quality, but I'd say just looking at these they should be a perfect choice for TX. Can't imagine why they wouldn't be 501st approved as they capture all the defining characteristics of the boot, and as Terrell says are better than what most of the Legion is wearing.
  21. Thanks Greg! Yet another example of why you're the best webmaster in the 501st!
  22. Liz - congrats on finally getting your TK! Blast door welcome - the water in the jacuzzi is already bubbling. Jason - great to see an old timer on these boards
  23. Pretty cool seeing all that plastic. The hot Xacto is an inspired idea, esp. for folks like me who have a hard time cutting a line with a dremel. Thanks for showing us pix - it looks like it will be an awesome set of armor
  24. We're supportive because someone supported us when we started. It's the pay it forward concept of good karma
  25. Way to go Lou - the updates really make the difference. Congrats!
