  1. Some nice things came in the mail the other day - here are the pix:
  2. These boots are not 501st acceptable. If a GML approves them they should lose their stripes.
  3. And a good shot on the right. Remember the cut on the butt plate needs to be visible when you're wearing it. Small nits for sure - you've done an awesome job!!
  4. As noted - not as good as they could be but better than what most folks are sporting.

    4000

Just realized I passed 4000 posts on this forum. And boy, are my arms tired (da dum!)
  6. Great to see! As soon as your TK ID comes through give me a ping as I can update your board membership at the same time. Congrats
  7. Jay - check the 501st only section of this forum and ask the same question there.
  8. Amazing work as always Mike!
  9. Thanks for the screen caps - this is the perfect / correct answer.

Sweet to hear guys! Can't wait to see pix
  11. I can at least say why I didn't - laziness! Then later, my helmets are signed by TE2 and why would you paint over those sigs?
  12. Wow - great work. The pix are fantastic. That's a much cleaner way to trim than what I used in the past. Gotta get me one of those tools.
  13. Be careful on FX armor sources. Most are just resellers who buy kits and package them up, so the only real difference is what markup they charge and what comes with the kit. IOW, research, research, research...
  14. If you truly want to be a member of the 501st, before you spend a penny on armor or annoy people by asking questions that have been answered dozens of times before, I really do recommend you do the following: 1) Introduce yourself, it's the polite thing to do, before posting. 2) Read and read and read some more. It takes weeks if not months of research to really get your head around this hobby. Then after getting your fill, start asking questions. At this point they'll be informed and people will be more helpful. 3) Get in touch with your local garrison. You'll eventually be trooping with them anyway so getting to know these people and starting to interact with them on the garrison board is a great way to get off on the right foot.
  15. My ESB bucket should arrive shortly. I have the hand plates and a new belt has been ordered. Just need to decide about the blaster. I have to say doing the kit so I could do both ANH & ESB from the beginning would have been easier, but with a little planning doesn't take much effort overall. Dude - you're nuts to try ROTJ. That's a lot of mods and a lot of work. There's almost nothing you can re-use except the legs and arms, so you're talking either a whole other suit or lots of extra parts. Would be cool to see - no one's ever scored that hat trick.
  16. And is it analog or digital? One thing RomFx has going for it is that it's digital. I have to say that it's hands down the best sounding board I've ever heard, but with the current exchange rate the price is over $300 and out of reach for most of us poor Yanks.
  17. Snaps for sure. The only parts that have velcro are the backs of my legs and forearms. Everything else is glued or snapped.
  18. Hey Andy - FYI that this detachment is geared towards the stormtrooper costume and also how it relates to the 501st. For general 501st information you really should check out 501st.com. For local information, your local garrison (Star) will have the answers you seek.
  19. There are - it's called your local garrison ;-)
  20. myspace is cool if you're under 30. FISD is cool to people at any age
  21. This came up on my garrison's boards. These changes are for the MR CE with regards to 501st acceptance. The UKG came up with them as what they felt this work needed to be done for UGK acceptance. Then FISD & MEPD said that if an MR CE helmet met the UKG standards that they felt it was OK for 501st acceptance. Now, Elite/Police Officer standards are higher than what is specified by the UKG, the dets just said it was OK as a base. Rhonda (LMO) was then asked to make a decision as to whether - with the UKG standards - the MR CE would be OK for 501st acceptance and she said yes, it was. So...yes the screws are required for 501st acceptance, and yes this means that it's a tighter requirement than the base FX helmet. Actually it would be more accurate to say that the FX keeps falling farther and farther out of compliance as standards evolve, just like the old Marco and Altmanns. And before people start whining...my concern about people concentrating on the FX bucket issue is that there are more changes, and more significant changes, happening in other costume standards. In the big picture the FX bucket is actually one tiny piece. Visible to many perhaps, but the overall impact I think it much smaller than people make it out to be. Your GML can attest to this - as a former GML I've seen at least 20 CRL's come through. Secondly, I think it's unrealistic to believe that costume standards will be static forever. They've never been, and never will. This too is playing out on detachments Legion-wide, as well as the GML forum. My $.02...
  22. I don't think we (501st) are the intended audience. I know very few people who have a base whatever (TK, Vader, Officer, Fett) as their primary costume that doesn't tweak, upgrade, and constantly improve upon it.
  23. I'd go AP or TE2 all the way if I were you - should fit you easily enough.
  24. Tech error corrected. White straps now specified. I'd leave the length and placement alone for now.
