  1. The reality is that they will charge what they think it's worth and what people are willing to pay. Wasn't long ago a hyperfirm MG-34 would go for $600, now they are $325 or so. In part you're paying for plastic - thick costs more than thin and ABS more than HIPS. But also that person's time. A working dad with two kids living in Manhattan will put a larger premium on his time than an unemployed college student in Mississippi, for instance. What is your time worth to you? You're also paying for quality and service. A reputable vendor who delivers on time with high quality parts may charge more than someone doing ghetto pulls. There is pretty much armor for every price point, but typically the higher the quality the higher the cost. Lastly you pay extra for rarity. Items that don't come up for sale much carry a premium. In the end you can always create your own molds, like TM and RT did. Even at $10 / hour (not much more than minimum wage here in WA state), it's far more economic to just buy someone's kit than spend those countless hours making your own molds from scratch.
  2. Thanks August/TM - this is a great detail to have ironed out (I'm abashed we didn't before), and will update the EIB standards as well as the CRL.
  3. Wow - that was fast! Congrats to EIB #80, and the second in the Philippines.
  4. Also, this is not the right forum. If there is to be an announcement on the new FX, it should be in it's own thread.
  5. This is great! Always neat to see another ESB trooper in the works.
  6. I'm considering banning the posting of PT build threads. PT is just such a royal pain everywhere. Thoughts?
  7. Actually I find that RT is best for taller troopers, especially in the thighs.
  8. Can't wait to see it - the Emperor may be visiting soon - you'll want to look sharp when he visits. 100 EIB is the vision, after all. Actually I'm thinking the UKG probably has the highest number of EIB for any garrison. Hmmm... (rushes off to check)
  9. Moved to a build area.
  10. Heya Chuck - shoot me a resume. My company isn't growing as fast as it used to, but we're still hiring. Location is the Seattle metro area.
  11. Actually I just use fresh tape. The adhesive from the tape will take that stuff up - has worked for me 100% of the time.
  12. Actually it is set to 2 characters - Greg (V'Pier) would have to explain why your search is not working.
  13. Exactly, which is why cutting the cod from the ab plate is acceptable as long as the line covered by the belt. This is also why a voice amplifier or fans are not mentioned at all in the requirements.
  14. You can ask that in a different thread. This is a build thread. Any other comments will be deleted.
  15. The 501st does not rent out armor, and any posts/threads offering armor for rent will be deleted. You can request an appearance of your local garrison though.
  16. I've seen FX fitted to guys 1/3 your size and TE armor looking good on guys bigger than you. It's not the kit, it's what you do with it It's a pretty personal decision - ask 10 people and you'll get 10 answers. Most of it is personal preference really, in the end.
  17. Also bro - give me a call 2morrow. 425-241-0741.
  18. If I wake up in time - I've consumed more alcohol in the last 4 hours than I have in the last 4 weeks. I have the banner. If not at the parade, for sure at the 501st mixer. I do indeed have the banner. FWIW, I'm meeting some very cool TK's from all over the Legion.
  19. My cell is 425-241-0741 if anyone needs to contact me.
  20. I contend that we need to offer up some Ewok sacrifices to the armor gods to create a longer thigh for us taller troopers. I have a similar issue, but not quite so bad.
  21. Very nice - looks like my first TD bucket a bit.
  22. 1. The FX helmet *was* the only solution to very tall troopers, but RT now has an oversized bucket and there is another maker who will make correctly proportionate (e.g. ANH) buckets that are slightly larger next year, so there *are* now more accurate options and more on the way. 2. Even if you had a 100% accurate ANH bucket that is 10% too large for you, this is an issue. All costumes require that they be proportionate and fitted to the user, whether it's a Vader, Officer, or TK.
  23. I think little by little the FX *helmet* is phasing itself out. Most new troopers are using something else. As for the armor I think it has a bit of life left. Out of the box it's not the greatest, but it can be pimped out it can look really good. Just check out our EIB's
  24. Still undecided if I should take armor or not. Paying the extra $$ for a second checked bag - I'm missing my ANH hand plates, so I'd have to choose between doing 90% ANH Hero or else 90% ESB. How much would I wear it anyway - what do you guys who've been there think?
  25. Outstanding! Can't wait to see it on you and fully ready to go
