NOTE: for EIB requirements (and CRL and Centurion for that matter), please see the Stormtrooper Costume Requirements page. The specific costume requirements are at: * A New Hope - Stunt * A New Hope - Hero * The Empire Strikes Back * Return of the Jedi * Heavy Weapons Trooper * Stormtrooper Commander * Incinerator Trooper PROGRAM OVERVIEW Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable, and any changes to the standards will need to be approved by a majority vote of this detachment. REQUIREMENTS OVERVIEW Because the stormtroopers vary in details between each movie, Stormtrooper Detachment EIB (Expert Infantryman Badge) Requirements are broken down to include base Requirements that every stormtrooper must attain, plus movie-specific Requirements. This allows for a higher level of accuracy than can be achieved through a single standard. Troopers achieving this distinction will be listed on the Expert Infantrymen page. RELATION TO THE 501st Legion Costume Reference Library (CRL) Standards Ideally the 501st CRL would capture the EIB requirements in the "SHOULD HAVE" sections of the relevant CRL entry. However until the CRL's are 100% confirmed, we'll continue to break them out in their own area. BASE REQUIREMENTS (ALL) Base Requirements are applicable to anyone wanting to achieve EIB status in the FISD. They cover the basic costume and in essence cover what is required for Legion Requirements. NOTE: On 21-Mar-08 FISD has ratified that FX helmets are no longer acceptable for Expert Infantryman qualification. ANH REQUIREMENTS (CANON) In addition to complying with all base Requirements, stormtroopers wishing to attain ANH Expert Infantryman status must also complete the ANH Requirements. Unlike ESB and ROTJ, there are two different helmet, holster, and hand plate options: the Hero and Stunt. Troopers must choose one or the other. Lastly, troopers may choose among several different options, such as replacing the thermal detonator with a combination of grappling hook and comlink. ESB REQUIREMENTS (CANON) In addition to complying with all base Requirements, stormtroopers wishing to attain ESB Expert Infantryman status must also complete the ESB Requirements. ESB Requirements are very similar to ANH but with some small differences, notably in the handplates, helmet, holster, and blaster. ROTJ REQUIREMENTS (CANON) In addition to complying with all base Requirements, stormtroopers wishing to attain ROTJ Expert Infantryman status must also complete ROTJ Requirements. ROTJ Requirements are quite a bit different from ANH and ESB as they entail numerous changes to the armor as well as helmet. HEAVY WEAPONS TROOPER (HWT) REQUIREMENTS (EU) Heavy Weapon Trooper (HWT) Requirements In addition to complying with all ANH Requirements, stormtroopers wishing to attain HWT Expert Infantryman status must also complete Heavy Weapons Trooper Requirements. Essentially a HWT is an ANH Stunt trooper with accessories: pack, pauldron, ammo pouches and of course a large weapon (BFG). They can be clean or have minor weathering. STORMTROOPER COMMANDER (TKC) REQUIREMENTS (EU) Stormtrooper Commanders wishing to obtain EIB recognition must choose between adhering to the video game or action figure references. Essentially a TFU Stormtrooper Commander comes in two variations: 1. An ROTJ trooper but with the following ANH details: split butt plate, trapezoid hand plates, left side mounted holster, ANH Stunt helmet. 2. An ANH Stunt trooper with paint and scuffs. This is based on the action figures. Both of these must be painted in accordance with established visual references. INCINERATOR (ICN) REQUIREMENTS (EU) Incinerator EIB requirements are still in the process of being defined. We anticipate these being complete and our first EIB recipient to occur in the next few months.

Gold coins are only ever one per *person*.

I prefer the diamond cutting wheel myself as it lasts longer and gets a cleaner edge than the carbon ones. --------

Terry/Steve - I was talking to the regional director of Pottery Barn and she mentioned events for Vancouver. Can either of you ping me - I'm trying to get a handle on how many of you are in that area and what the status is, as most of Badlands is not in that part of the province.

Looking past this month of September (and August), I'd like to know if there is any nominations for an FISD Service Award. This is for someone who has demonstrated a high level of commitment and support of the membership on this forum by helping others, whether it be creating a killer tutorial, innovation or service, or just going above and beyond in helping people. The program was created here in July : http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=7551 And the sticky list of current recipients is in Announcements here : http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=8568 Thoughts, recommendations - let's hear from you

Wow, that seems like a lot, huh? Perhaps in light of the fact that we have 5,839 registered members, and about 500 detachment members (that's 501st AND TK), this is less than 5% of our detachment membership. That's an even more select group than our EIB members (about 80 so far). Congrats to the recipients. Thank you so much for your dedication to the detachment. As Synaptyx says as our unofficial motto: Troopers Helping Troopers! That's what FISD is all about.

Actually your 501st profile says "no costumes on file". Man, you must have just gotten your TK this past few days? -
TK-3914 Requesting EIB Status.[83][ATA]
Daetrin replied to Sgt JB's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Love the action shot! Will need final word from Terrell, but I think you're ready to head on down to the detention level and rumble. Seems a problem with cell AA 23 -
Finally got to bed at 1am - still a little jet lagged from the China trip. I had to coordinate and troop an event this morning then dash off to the airport to pick up my wife/kids who are now back in the states. I realize I still have to: 1. Create text for the 501st calendar 2. Find out what's up with the latest patch runs 3. Do a little TLC on my armor (yeah, like I'll get time for that ) 4. Do some email work for the Star Wars in Concert troop coming up 5. Get pix out of the camera! 6. Post pix to here, and to the Chinese Outpost as a thank you 7. Pick up my fish from the neighbors 8. Bake cookies, make dinner, kidz, etc. 9. Actually do some work for work tomorrow 10. Read three technical magazines that came in the mail since I left 11. More kidz 12. Show off pix from today's troop - new hand plates + back to using my ANH Hero 13. More stuff - too much to list :-p Seems my weekend is chock full of Legion, work, or kids, and I can't see doing it all. Anyone else have a weekend like this?

You can also create a suspenders system to keep it held up (this is what I use). I'd also suggest forming the tail of the butt so it wraps under rather than seems to dangle down and add a strap between it in the cod. I could be wrong, but it looks to me like the kidney is upside down, and you can probably lower the butt plate a little too. FWIW, you can't really apply for EIB until you have your TKID from the Legion, but we can keep this thread here for final approval once you get it. Keep us posted trooper - you're looking good
-
Actually there is only one more section and there's nothing really posted there aside from status of finances, which I haven't updated on a loooooong time. The main benefits are larger mail box, 'supporter' icon, and the feeling that you helped the site. Mike - I'll accept this donation and will need to pass it along to Greg for hosting costs, but would like at this point to ask that no one else send in money as we're doing fine in the kitty and are in the black for awhile.

TK-4289 requesting EIB Status.[90][RT]
Daetrin replied to Agent RayBans's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
As noted the number of rivets are "should have" for EIB but not required as yet - lets get to at least 100 EIB first ;-) Also a neck seal is certainly required if you don't have one. I suspect the blaster will be the only holdup. For the blaster it really should be 7 for a Hasbro - I accidentally deleted that footnote when I ported the CRL's from the static pages to the forum. -
Yup - I forget who to, but I suspect they'll surface soon enough. Will be interesting to see if they translate in to more ROTJ troopers or not.
-
I just don't think there are enough EIB worth making forums out of. There are just a few pages - it would take seconds to find any non-ANH with a few clicks. You an also search for ESB or ROTJ in that particular folder and find them even faster.
-
My thoughts exactly. +1. That would be easiest, else I'd suggest the paint method. Everyone says no one will notice, but most people do anyway.

Question: Rivets, shims, and EIB
Daetrin replied to Agent RayBans's topic in Expert Infantry Program
I'd really recommend against visible rivets, and disagree with Terrell. I don't think we spell out that they can't be there, but they do detract from the visual appeal and typically glue holds just fine. Remember, they're not supposed to be stressed after all, just stay shut. -
Bending your arms in armor
Daetrin replied to Agent RayBans's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Roger that. Remember that the less black the better. Alas, the tradeoff between looking good and being comfortable I call the dark marks on my arms that make me look like a drug user "armor kisses", but agree that ideally it would be nice if they weren't there. That said, you can usually do little trims to make it easier at least. -
For posterity, here is the text that we used on our 501st trading card: The First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment focuses on both original and expanded universe versions of the Empire's armored foot soldier. By helping 501st members and new recruits equip themselves accurately, the FISD ensures that the 501st continues to impress Star Wars fans. Growing to nearly 800 members in it's first year alone, the FISD marches forward forming the backbone of the 501st.
