I can't think of anything not already pointed out. It's looking really good and most of the comments shouldn't affect 501st acceptance though will definitely increase the beauty of your costume. Heck, once you've done the above, spit the butt and you're ready for EIB too

TK3045 Requesting EIB Status.[81][FX]
Daetrin replied to TK3045's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
I'll make the switch one Terrell has a chance to jump in - normally he likes to be the one to offer congrats, which should be EZ -
Dsw Shoes $89.00 boots
Daetrin replied to PGHtrooper21's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Sure would, but are a little pricey for Jodhpurs. -
I used the dritz snaps exclusively on my first FX and they worked w/o fail. Even in a 5 mile march. Even with a few downs of football.
-
I have to say that getting a set of snap pliers was worth every penny. I too used to use the hammer method and it blows.
-
Could be worse. Thomas Train Vader.

You guys are full mods - feel free to mod away if it gets out of hand or crosses the line. I trust each of your opinions 100%, and will back whatever calls you make.

Actually it's a good idea. We've been hoping that our group in eastern WA eventually is big enough for a squad size. Vancouver isn't that far away - would be nice to have more troopers just that side of the border.
-
We will give you a nice award when you hit EIB. This is a fantastic thread so far
-
Keep it civil guys, else the Provost Marshall will pay a visit...
-
You look mah-velous dahling!
-
Pretty much any armor can fit a guy your size. The ANH style armors (AP, TE2, etc.) will tend to fit you better though.
-
That's beautiful!

We're up to 80, 20 left to go!

Agreed. I'm locking the thread. Let's get back to trooping. Marcus - if you still want to debate, you can always PM me.
-
FWIW, historically the blasters have never been required elements of approval, aside from Sith Lords. There is discussion in Legion Council to allow waivers for folks who live in countries such as this.
-
I think you are naive then Marcus. You should realize that as the owner of the forum the conduct of it's membership is a direct reflection on yourself and the values you have, and you have a responsibility to ensure that these values are reflected on that board. You're right - you are a closed forum. I guess it needs to be if some of the prime conversations involve belittling others, plots to overthrow 501st elections, and also how to engage in theft of a person's hard work. As long as DIY is a place where open and unrestricted recasting is not only allowed but highly encouraged - something which is not condoned by the 501st Legion and this being a 501st Legion forum - there can never be "peace" as your beliefs are counter to the mission of FISD.
-
Even you have to admit that banning FISD staff on FISD in retaliation for me suspending 3 dual members for slander is a bit much. If I'm wrong, aren't you wrong too? And, I agree that suspending Scootch with no warning was an error of judgment on my part. C'mon Marcus - please explain my lies and two-facedness. I'm dying to hear them. It's sad really Vaj as I've never objected to you being on this forum in the past, as you do contribute to it.

I have no issue with people being both a member of DIY and FISD. Nor do I have an issue with some on my staff being both members of FISD and DIY. Here are the issues as I see them: 1. Please explain why I am not as clean as I let on, and what my two faces are. 2. Actually I have never suspended anyone for recasting. And I acknowledge that suspending Scootch was a bad call and unsuspended his account. The only two suspended members are catbread and Dutchy. 3. While I can suspend a 501st member for recasting, I actually never have. In fact, not a single 501st member has ever been suspended on this forum for recasting. I can however ban people for bad business practices or repeated violations of forum rules. That list comprises 5 people: Matt/TE, GINO, DaveTheDane, CAP (who asked to be banned) and tk533. 4. Here are the untruths that I found on DIY: -> PT: "Some even had the FISD admin delete their threads". We've never deleted a PT build thread - in fact there are some on this forum (thread below) -> Dark Agent: "one rule for admin and one rule for everyone else over at the fisd" Not true, rules apply to everyone equally. I challenge anyone to post evidence of an exception. -> PT: [catbread was banned] "Because you are showing my gear". Nope. -> PT: "because they [FISD] fell soo sorry for Tony (and want to control the trooper market...)... Not true at all. My only goal is to ensure that only reputable vendors can sell on FISD, and that the information is transparent. Have you seen us prevent a VT sale? A Tray sale? Heck, even TE sells buckets via Stomper. -> soldierof4cheese : "I am sure turdell is behind it." Not true at all. it was me. -> This isn't related, but is interesting that soldierof4cheese admits wanting to recast anything TE2 produces, and people think it's cool. -> Here, soldierof4cheese says that I'm a major puss and that Terrell is my boyfriend and watch porn. You chime in agreeing. I'm not gay and have never met Terrell in person in my entire life. I'm pretty sure Terrell isn't gay either.

It's best to say it's not the armor that is approved/not approved, it's the quality of the job in putting it together. One can make an old FX kit sing, and make a disaster of even a GINO suit.
-
I'll also say that the new FX (aka AM) if it lives up to what is claimed, will be far and away more accurate than the old kit, and corrects many of the items that only the FX needs to have done for EIB clearance. I for one can't wait to see the new FX
-
AFAIK, traditional FX lids are still 501st acceptable however it can be confusing since none of the the CRL's are 100% ratified. My belief is that it still is, at least I haven't heard of anyone not being accepted with it.
-
I'll answer this as it was my action. 1. I did not suspend all members, just three. 2. In hindsight, it was a bit of a over-reaction. However it's only fair to share what was posted on DIY that got me so upset: For those not in the know, DIY is hosted by CAP, aka Chris Peters. What distinguishes DIY is: 1. It's admins and some key members advocate unlimited recasting of all kinds w/o consequence. Recast TM? Not a problem. In fact they brag about who they've recasted, and who they plan on recasting. As is quite clear, this is against the 501st charter and the 501st code of conduct, and worst hurts the prop building community. Even the vaunted RPF does not advocate such an extreme position as DIY supports in this regard, for the last of the reasons I cited. 2. Various members who are dual to both this board and DIY have participated in conversations that slander 501st members, both in denigrations and outright lies. While we cannot control what non-501st members so, it's also against the 501st charter for 501st members to do so. Heck, lying and supporting lies is just bad joo joo all around. I have to say I'm pretty curious why these same DIY members who poo poo both the Legion and FISD in particular - and the values that these clubs support - are so vocal there, but on this forum act all friendly and supportive. I'd very much love to know why people who hate this forum are so keen to remain as members here.

Oversized accurate helmet
Daetrin replied to SuperTrooper's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Did you see the latest post by Rob (RT) on his thread? He has a larger helmet ready to go. -
Wow Kevin - this is one of the more meticulous build threads there is. You're doing fantastic work! Hope your feeling better soon as well.
