Now now - this is preference and also time. I think most would say that gluing the backs is the way to go. Personally I found having a little flex back there helps, but that's just me.
-
I'd Velcro them first and do some troops to ensure you know exactly how they should fit. My current set was glued before I had trooped and they're not quite right. Another mistake to avoid: when you do finally decide to glue take care to remember that the Velcro adds just that much extra to the diameter. I had a pair of perfect thighs and when I took the Velcro off and glued them one ended up too tight, and I ended up selling them and getting a new set :-p

It is hybrid. It's really a toss to specify ROTJ as a base and call out the ANH stuff, or else use ANH as a base and call out the ROTJ stuff. When I looked at it, it seemed easier to call out ROTJ as the base and make ANH changes from there. The door trim is a good point - would be interesting to see what people think.

I guess it's the intent of the program. In philosophy and origin, the goal of Police Officer status was not to reflect and allow for every possible combination that was used, but to capture the essence of a sandtrooper and push Legion members to hit a higher bar than base 501st. Troops are certainly free to use an E-11 for trooping *after* they get Police Officer status just like they are free to leave the pack at home for certain troops. However, the standard was meant to be that if an MEPD Police Officer needed to be in full kit, they could. This was the spirit of MEPD when I joined that detachment, and I wish it was there still.
-
Actually the original MEPD Police Officer standards mandated a BFG and an E-11 was not allowed. When Mike Harrison re-wrote them in 2008 he made the change to allow the E-11. Given that the change was made by DL fiat, I guess it could be un-done by DL fiat. My belief however is that the DL should not change Police Officer standards on whim, and it should have gone to vote.

FBJ's new armour :)

Does the hooks facing inwards scrape against your calf much, or is it not that bad? -
I'd like some input as to the Protocal

This forum is built on transparency and sharing of information. Unless you're touting the wares of a pedophile (star fortress) or a rampant recaster, the more info you share the better the community becomes. If you look at all the members here who are lauded, they are being held up as exemplary for sharing what they know, not hoarding information. -
Trimming down the ears is not a 501st requirement and thus is not an EIB requirement, though many people do it as part of the pimping out process.
-
Hey Chris - actually this is not the case. The DLT-19 (MG-34) is a canon BFG option for regular stormtroopers (one on the Falcon had one). If you believe that the HWT EIB requirements should include a BFG then I'm open to creating a binding poll for making this change if others chime in for it's support.

1. Not sure. They are actually under a TD designation, not a TK. I don't think Thomas (LMO) has figured has them configured yet in the database. 2. They are TD's - like sandtroopers. 3. Nope, it's 501st approved, per LMO 4. Yes, it should as it's a different costume designation. Just like I can take my IC, swap the hat for a helmet & add a DH-17, and I'm an IN.

Fascinating. It's hard to say, also in that for ANH/ESB the split is below the butt. The LMO (Legion Membership Officer) has indicated that he sides with the artist's renders rather than screen caps, as that is the intent of the design rather than it's implementation. I'll see if I can't get ahold of the render - I have one for the Commander and at least from what I see it's clearly modeled on ROTJ and thus no splits.
-
I have never been made aware of a case where the cod & ab plate are separate in any of the 3 canon films, video game, or action figure. For the back, they were separate in AHH/ESB clearly, and from the screen shots and anecdotes I've heard they were a single back plate in ROTJ. If you look at the screen shots from the video games it depends: for Stormtrooper Commander is all the shots seem to show a single back plate, and this is also the case so far with the Incinerator Trooper. This is why for both the preferred base is ROTJ and not ANH, though both customs clearly show an ANH helmet and hand plates. If you can find screen caps that show a split I'd love to see it. All the ones that have been posted to FISD show an ROTJ style back, just as they contain the ROTJ style ab plate, belt, etc.

Now that is clever, brilliantly clever Mark! You blaze the trail for others yet again -
Incinerator Trooper

As of today, ICN is the only costume we cover without a single EIB awardee. I'll cover the gold coin + shipping to the first trooper who reaches it.

I'll agree the standard search can be wonky, but it's a bit of a black box. What I did was go to advanced search, look for HOWTO in the title only, and set author to riveting. If the search does a default AND and riveting is not in the body or title of the thread, you'll not find anything as riveting is the author.
-
Smart - and paving the way will be a big help for all ICN's that want to go take their costume to the next level.

Rick330's dual TrooperMaster TM build[*TM]

Very nice! TM's attention to details certainly is a high bar. -
When one brother falls, another takes their place. Or, one can choose to do both (I did).

Pandatrooper's AM build thread[*AM]
Daetrin replied to pandatrooper's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I've seen this armor in person, and it's impressive. Actually there is no armor that I know of that traces to screen used. TE-derived was an ROTJ tour suit, after all no? It's not the kit - it's what you do with it that makes the armor rock.
