  1. Looks like they also sell ABS.
  2. Being a 6'1", 210lb bodybuilder who was new at the time (and still is seeing as how I've owned my kit for less than a year), I'm in lockstep agreement with Josh. Not only was FX the cheapest, easiest to assemble, and most widely available, it just so happened to fit me almost perfectly. I had to shim the biceps, forearms, and calves a bit to account for my manly muscles but that was all. Although my next kit will be RT, except for the helmet I have no regrets over my FX. You're the perfect size for an AP/TE2/TM. Since money isn't a big issue for you, I'd seriously consider it. Yes, they're harder to assemble but that's why you have Garrison Armorers. Want an example? Check out this thread, done by a soon-to-be member of my garrison with a great deal of assistance by a couple of former armorers. ----------
  3. As was said, I'm looking forward to seeing pics of the finished product. I'd love to see it side-by-side with an unmodded TE2 and an MRCE.
  4. Working on mine right now, I expect to have enough done to meet the minimum qualifications for ANH Elite by the end of the week. I actually plan on going beyond posted Elite standards on my FX by trimming the chestplate, tapering the thighs, etc. I figured I'd get everything done first before submitting pics.
  5. I just watched the video, sounds good. The static burst is pretty cool. I've been itching to do this mod, especially with Halloween coming up and with it lots of opportunities to be out and about in my TK, I just need to find the time.
  6. If you haven't already done so, it'd be great to put a link to your vids on the StarWarsHelmets site. Man, every time I see that Star Wars placard stuck on the back of that bucket, it makes me cringe.
  7. Sounds like a thread split is in order.
  8. Definitely a first-class guy, if I thought I could squeeze into ANH armor I'd definitely buy from him.
  9. I had the same problem with my FX for the same reason. I also used the belt pieces to shim the forearms, calves, and biceps. It works pretty well. Somewhere around here there is a link to a great step-by-step website on how to build shims.
  10. Is there a low-bandwidth version of this forum geared toward mobile users? I'd love to be able to log in via my Treo without having to endure long page-load times.
  11. Congratulations, and welcome to the 501st!
  12. No doubt, need some boxers for the fellas.
  13. Very nice! Where'd you get a vintage GF set from? Have you always had it or is it a recent acquisition? Not that it necessarily affects Elite requirements, but I'd move the drop boxes out to the edge of the utility belt, and tuck the neck seal inside the body suit.
  14. I used my initials to come up with my TKID: B = 2nd letter of the alphabet I = 9th letter R = 18th letter
  15. Except for the lightsaber, it looks like a standard TK minus the E-11 and holster. You might want to submit as a regular TK first, then do the lightsaber as an additional weapon.
  16. Working on my Elite status upgrades.
  17. If you look at the actual screen shots, all the thermal detonators are gray. The silver strips are an FX armor thing. Having said that, I don't think there's anything in the Elite standards that dictates one over the other. However, it's good practice to go with as screen-accurate as you can make it.
  18. Isn't that why George Lucas waited so long between the OT and Eps I-III? I remember reading somewhere that after ROTJ was released GL made the conscious decision to wait until the technology and techniques had evolved enough to properly put on film the vision he had in his head. I also think I read somewhere that the reason the soon-to-be-showing Clone Wars movie is done in CG vs real life is that the format allows him to do things not possible or practical with real actors and props. Having said that, I can totally see Gino and Mike's view from an "art of filmmaking" perspective. Fascinating discussion here . . .
  19. I've got to agree with the first post. I personally want to look like an Imperial Stormtrooper in all of his glory, not a circa-1970s British actor/stuntman wearing a cheap plastic suit. Recalling the scene in Episode II (AOTC) at the Kamino cloning facility, where the clones are lined up to pick up their buckets, that's how I envision "real" stormtrooper armor would be made. Of course back here in the real world, where struggling up-and-coming filmmakers are under intense budget & schedule pressure to complete a project that no one knows whether or not it'll succeed or fail, you often have to settle for less. Maybe my views will evolve over time, but for now I love the gleaming white, perfectly symmetrical, inspection-ready look. As for the beauty of symmetry vs asymmetry, I personally prefer a woman with two symmetric eyes, legs, tit. . . , well, you get the idea.
  20. Oh yeah! Once that hatch blew and the boys (and girls ) in white poured in blasters blazing, that was all it took. Over 30 years ago and I still get chills just thinking about it.
  21. Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I saw this while reviewing TK-6908's "FX chest plate mod" thread. Has anyone actually tried the shoulder bell mod yet, and if so do you have any pictures? I'm always looking for ways to improve my FX and I'd definitely like to improve the look of the FX shoulder bells, hopefully without sacrificing the width I need for my shoulders.
  22. I think a vengeful boyfriend destroying one of our female member's prized collectibles, Star Wars or no, would have gotten the same reaction. Actually I know it does, based on the reactions to this incident I've read from the female 501st members on the Legion board. It has less to do with gender-bashing, more to do with lack of respect for your significant other's stuff.
