  1. Congratulations, and welcome to being official!
  2. Great job filling the teeth and repainting the frown!
  3. Congratulations, and welcome to officialdom!
  4. Looks pretty good. Minor tweaks as noted above, but it looks like you've got Elite covered.
  5. Congratulations, and excellent job.
  6. I completely agree with Billy. I've bought a number of items from TrikToys in the past, most recently ABS cement. Not the cheapest, but his business practices are sound.
  7. Ditto on Scott's comments. For Stunt you need flat green lenses. Alternatively, you could fill in the outer teeth and go for the Hero look. Do you have any full-body photos with you wearing the armor? I believe the closed side gap needs to be shown, along with the split butt as it actually looks on you. Taking full-body photos from the front, back, left, and right worked well for me. An cool action photo against a neutral background (a green screen works best) would be the icing on the cake. Also, a photo of the E11 from the front would be good, as it appears you are missing a T-track on the lower left side of the barrel. Question for Scott: Do the aerators that come with the AP kit Elite-qualified?
  8. Word. Respect the Novus.
  9. I would love to see an ANH screen-capture of a leather belt. The canvas belts can be built with reinforced attach points for a holster. Another option (and the one I use) is canvas-covered, which gives you the look of canvas but with the support of the standard FX plastic belt.
  10. Looks great! Once you get the mirror tint installed it'll look absolutely incredible! Hopefully this starts a trend with the TX community. Question for you: Is the brow a little on thick side?
  11. Kind Sir, Foxtrot Oscar, if you would please.
  12. Amen to that.
  13. We discussed trooping this on our Garrison board. Aside from the fact it's not playing nearby, there was an overriding concern regarding the potential for physical abuse by non-fanboys. Given the very high nerd-factor, we came to the conclusion that it just wasn't safe to troop this in costume, at least not without having some large, mean-looking, violence-prone, non-costumed handlers accompanying us. Anyone else have this concern, or are we being excessively paranoid?
  14. Star Trek (I know, I'm playing on both teams ). Not all of them, but generally speaking.
  15. More often than not, how you say something is at least as important as what you say, at least that's what my wife tells me. Gino is a wealth of knowledge and one of the pioneers in this hobby, however he comes across as a completely insufferable a very impolite person. Even a prophet would be tarred and feathered if he/she arrived with the "I'm here to educate you ignorant, unworthy masses. Maybe if you take EVERYTHING I say as the Living Gospel, you might one day be worthy of the crumbs that fall off my dinner table." True, Gino is no longer here to defend himself, but his condescending attitude is completely indefensible. One of the comments you consistently hear from newcomers to the FISD is how friendly and helpful the members here, not at all like so many other forums out there. What VaderDave and TK9135 did at the beginning of the year only adds emphasis to the feeling of community that I love about the FISD and 501st Legion. Gino (and TE for that matter), despite their wealth of knowledge and experience, tended to trash that very sense of community. For what, their own amusement? They could both do so much good, yet instead of using their knowledge as an open hand, they use it like a closed fist. The fact that Gino has the balls to mock what we do in the 501st, ON A 501ST FORUM NO LESS, absolutely makes my blood boil. He certainly would not put up with that kind of bulls*** on his forum. If someone decided to come into my home, watch my TV, and eat at my dinner table, all the while bitching about how bad my food is, how the decor sucks, how I'm an honorless scumbag, I'd escort him out at gunpoint. If I want to take advantage of Gino's knowledge, I'll go to his website or join his prop forum. He has some fantastic props and displays, best out there IMHO. But as far as his presence here and his "Ha, Ha, my toys are better than your toys" attitude, I say good riddance.
  16. Having a spotter is definitely Rule #1. Other than that, I'd ask the 501st members in attendance. Like Paul said, they'll definitely be in attendance and will more than likely have a fan table set up. If you register at the Empire City Garrison forum, I'm sure there's someone there that can provide additional answers to your questions. Plus it lets them know you're coming and they can provide any do's or don'ts specific to trooping in NYC. Enjoy, cons are always a blast!
  17. Gino, I never said that and if I implied it, that was poor communication on my part and I take full responsibility for it. BTW, I do show up in FX (body) armor, I would like a set of the more accurate stuff assuming it could fit my non-screen accurate frame, nothing is worth sacrificing one's morals and character for so the "by any means necessary" comment is totally inapplicable, and it's not the armor but the person in it that counts the most.
  18. Cool, a Hero rig. Definitely in the minority when it comes to ANH elites. One very small nit, I believe the Hero-style armor has 4 rivets attaching the holster to the belt, whereas the Stunt has only 2. Regardless it won't affect your Elite app in the least, but just thought I'd share.
  19. Gino, I hope you didn't REALLY mean to belittle the charity work we do with that statement. If you did, perhaps you could take a moment to tear yourself away from your magnificent (in all sincerity) props and visit with a child dying of terminal cancer.
  20. Mine came yesterday, thanks!
  21. The fact that many FX kits come with pauldrons is part of the problem. It's like the attitude is "it came with the kit, therefore it MUST be legit to wear." A common mistake, especially among TK newbies. Maybe they should come with a disclaimer, such as "If you are not a sandtrooper but choose to wear the pauldron anyway, we take no responsibility for any negative reprecussions."
  22. Congratulations, and welcome to officialdom!
  23. That's a good-looking kit, what kind is it?
  24. No trooping this weekend, but I do plan on making some strapping adjustments to my TK. I'm also going to set up and configure the brand-spanking new laptop I bought myself during the after-Christmas sales. Of course there's always take-home work from the office, and the usual weekend housework waiting on me. <_< After all that, hopefully I'll finally be able to sit down to a few hours of The Force Unleashed for the Wii.
