  1. Very nice. Did you paint that, or is it already made of glossy black plastic (assume ABS)?
  2. Thoughts and prayers for your entire family. Take care of home, we'll keep the lights on for you here.
  3. That was tough to watch, really tough. Needless to say, she'd be dropped like a bad habit & sued for every penny her and her friends including the one behind the camera don't have. Oh by the way, thanks for the publicly-available evidence tape, dear. It'll make demonstrating your twisted mindset that much easier. Lesson learned. Note to self: If I'm going to do something that can have negative reprecussions later, at least have the good sense not to videotape myself doing it. Note to female troopers: If you're seeking revenge against a jerk boyfriend, better to mess with his mind than with his stuff. It tends to be more effective, more satisfying, and the subtlety lends itself to a level of plausible deniability.
  4. Yep, I had the same problem with my FX calves (also with the biceps and forearms), although my calves aren't nearly as FREAKIN' MASSIVE as yours. I used extra ABS to close mine, but it looks like the vinyl option might be best for you. How big around are your calves, anyway?
  5. I totally second that. You're much better off keeping the FX and saving up for another opportunity. If you're so inclined, TE2 is probably the top of the line and you can purchase a completed TE2 from TK-4510 on this forum.
  6. Absolutely amazing job! Your reputation for excellence is obviously well-deserved. Just wondering, what took you so long? Congrats (in advance)!
  7. Great pics, and I love the Death Star picture!!! That's some really sharp armor! Pardon my ignorance, but who's the armor manufacturer?
  8. Excellent! Another elite, congratulations!
  9. Do you have any before/after pictures or a link showing how best to taper the thighs? I'm also a bodybuilder and while the FX thighs fit well up top, they are much too wide at the bottom for my taste. For instance, how far up should the wedge go?
  10. Man, talk about primitive. Still, I can see it being useful when on a mobile device, especially if you're connecting over GSM or some other cell phone technology.
  11. Remember it's not just the colors, but the size also has to be correct. The standard FX buttons I believe are too big. Best to just buy a replacement set from VaderDave. They're inexpensive, shipped quickly, easy to install, and even this small mod makes a world of difference.
  12. Is there any community-wide agreement as to what is really the "correct" shade of blue? Does it differ between ANH and ESB? Elite standards simply say "blue tube stripes" but don't specify a particular shade. Is ESB darker than ANH or vice versa?
  13. It really depends on how you build your armor and how it fits on you. Case in point, one TK in my garrison can not only sit comfortably, he can actually cross his legs while in full armor. Another guy who riveted his armor together before he knew any better, not only can't he sit down, but he has a very limited range of motion in armor. Also, not all movie theater seats are the same size. In some of the modern multiplex theaters here in the States, it's like sinking into your favorite Laz-E-Boy recliner, surround-sound included.
  14. Amazing, it vastly improves the look of the FX chestpiece. I've just added that to my to-do list of mods. Did you do any trimming, or did you simply "tuck" the return edge underneath the chestplate? Can you add pics of the chestplate lying inside-up on a table such that we can see how far the return edge comes up? An outstanding mod, thanks for sharing!
  15. A belated congratulations on achieving Elite status! I'm in the process of acquiring all the parts I need for Elite, at this point about the only thing I'm still missing is an accurate holster. I'm on SuperTrooper's waiting list for an accurate E-11 holster. My plan is to have all the mods completed and at least be eligible for Elite status by DragonCon in August. It's really a matter of finding a day where I can hide out in my basement and work on my armor. Once again, congrats!
  16. Thank goodness you survived. There are definitely lessons in your experience for us all, whether we drive, ride, cycle, or walk. Whether it's a seat belt, protective riding clothes, or a helmet, safety gear saves lives!!! Having a heads-up attitude helps a lot as well. Things I'll especially remember the next time my kids want to go for a bike ride. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery!
  17. See thread below, good RT vs FX comparison pics. -------------- I'd like to know the answer to the second question myself, as I'll soon be in the market for a suit I can turn into a TD. BTW, please do not use all caps, it amounts to SHOUTING. Thanks.
  18. Yeah, I saw the earlier post and I was kinda wondering about that. I figured he was planning on attending DragonCon this year where even in Femtrooper armor he probably would not have gotten a second look. Deckard (TD-2187) is probably the best source of FX parts, if you contact him he might be able to help you. -------------
  19. At the risk of stating the obvious, I think it would be good to start an official "interest" thread for this.
  20. This is a special operations trooper (TX) from the Expanded Universe as opposed to a traditional stormtrooper (TK), and I believe it is acceptable for 501st membership. Check the 501st Legion website (www.501st.com) for more info. Best way to start if you want to join the 501st is to make contact with the nearest garrison. The Legion website has a listing of all the garrisons, outposts, squads, etc.
  21. Outstanding news, Mike! Long interviews are usually a very good sign, especially if they make the effort to walk you around the facility. Congratulations in advance, "boss"
  22. Looking good Paul, hope to be trooping with you soon!
  23. Looking good. I'll definitely be checking out your photos for reference once I start my elite mods. Can't wait to get there!
  24. Second that. Take your time and enjoy the process. I spent some late nights building my TK, the lost sleep was definitely worth it!
