  1. I agree with Paul and Terry. Get yourself a set of the rubber gloves with the screen-accurate latex hand plates glued on the backs. R2Dan sells them, among others. They definitely feel different than the nomex gloves (I have both), and although under normal conditions I prefer the feel of Nomex gloves versus heavy rubber gloves, I can't imagine trooping in them given the freezing rain & snow conditions of last weekend's Richmond Christmas Parade.
  2. This same info is posted here, but in a 501st-only accessible area. Daniel & Ryan, might I suggest you PM one of the FISD staff and have your status upgraded? Joe, screen-accurate is not for everyone. Personally I think TM is the closest thing to dead-on accurate ANH armor anywhere out there, and I would love to call myself an owner of TM armor. However, I'm also 6'1", weigh 215lbs, and have been a recreational bodybuilder for over 20 years. A far cry from 5'10", 150lb, and skinny that screen-accurate is best suited for. Yes, I understand that armor can be shimmed to fit larger folks, but I also believe that you can shim so much that you start to take away from the overall appearance. I love the curves of TM armor, but I'd have to shim so much that I'd end up sacrificing part of what I like most. What I like about AM (and RT Mod for that matter) is it's more accurate than the FX kit I currently own, but specifically sculpted for larger troopers. A compromise between form and function, but for us bigger guys it's a necessary one. Just my opinion.
  3. Soft details, clearly a recast of something. Personally I'd stay away and stick with ATA. There's a pretty recent thread around here on this same set of armor.
  4. I inserted shims and glued both sides shut. Forearms now look a lot cleaner, slide on and off, and no worries about them coming apart during a troop.
  5. Sounds like a plan.
  6. I think any of the combinations you described would work fine, although personally I wouldn't wear the holster if I didn't have the E-11 to go with it. Not only do I carry both the DLT-19 and E-11 on troops, but I qualified as EIB with the DLT-19/E-11 setup. I typically carry the DLT-19 as my primary and wear the E-11 as a sidearm. Call it the "Han Solo" setup, if you will. Since it's seen in ANH, I have to think it's canon. Me at Dragoncon (on the right): -------------
  7. Low humidity, temps in the 60s, cure for 5 days. Sounds like you and your new ATA need to take a week-long vacation in Las Vegas. It's been cold and rainy here in the Washington D.C. area for weeks. No painting for me.
  8. They were all pretty good. Much appreciated, Vic. I needed something to laugh about right about now.
  9. You could always attend Pacific Outpost troops as a helper/squire/photographer. Personally, I'd absolutely love to have a gorgeous assistant, especially if I'm looking to attract a crowd.
  10. A legitimate FX reseller, but as stated he's way overpriced.
  11. If you ever decide to do a fem version of Vader - and yes, I've seen a few - you've already got the boots nailed.
  12. That's a good looking bucket. Goes well with an FX-lite kit.
  13. Either the FX or RT build threads could help you, as the build process for both seems similar.
  14. Welcome. How about an introduction over in the New Member Introductions section? It sounds like you've done your homework. For your build and handling/usage needs, AP and TM are ideal choices. I've seen recent runs of AP that leads me to believe that the bluish-white problem was limited to a particular batch of plastic, and that the newer runs don't have this problem.
  15. All of the above. I assume you're referring to Nekocon. Garrison Tyranus will have several members there - including the GML - and will be running both a fan table and armor panel. I haven't seen you on the GT board, so I doubt anyone from the garrison other than myself knows your coming (I won't be there, I've got another committment for this weekend). I suggest you hook up with them as soon as you get there, they should be able to help with changing/storage space and other onsite assistance. You have a great costume and should you decide to join the garrison, you'll be the only ROTJ TK we have. Your costume would provide an excellent visual aid as to the differences between an ANH/ESB and ROTJ trooper, and what a screen-accurate TK should look like.
  16. Albin Johnson, the 501st Legion Founder and current LCO, is also an amputee. I don't know if he wears his TK armor over his prosthetic leg or not, but if anyone gives you grief I'd bring that up.
  17. Helmet-mounted?
  18. Also need to paint the boot soles white. So, when are you submitting your pics to the Tyranus GML?
  19. Looks great! Even on Halloween, I doubt I could ever get away with wearing my armor at work. <_<
  20. At the risk of stating the obvious, have you checked in with the Canadian Garrison?
  21. I agree with everything said. Great job!
  22. Have you considered tightly taping down the boots at the top? Also, in what order do you put your armor on? I put my calf armor on after my boots, and simply close it up around the top of the boot.
  23. Other than the missing ab button, you are easily clearable for 501st membership. The RT Mod helmet comes standard with a flat gray lensplate, for EIB you'll need to change it out for flat green lenses. Love the man cave! If I had a room like that I'd pretty much live out of it.
  24. Wow. Just WOW. That, and the cost to LFL for our services is fairly reasonable.
  25. The mods definitely make the armor look even better on you - although I didn't think that was possible.
