Perhaps all is not lost. I recall RT stating on this board that he was starting a new project that will result in a helmet that is scaled-up in size but still relatively screen-accurate. Haven't heard anything about it in a while, but if you're interested it might be worth an email to Rob.

Relieving Oneself Armored Up
tkrestonva replied to TK-6162's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Sitting can be difficult, but doable. The harder part is getting back up. Of course it also depends on how you build your armor. There is one TK in my garrison who can not only sit in armor, but can actually comfortably cross his legs. -
I have an RT-Mod lid, and it's not possible for me to wear my glasses underneath it. Then again, I have a huge head - so much so I need to do the side-twist method just to get my helmet on.

A guy in my garrison actually had TK lenses ground to his prescription, which he then installed in his helmet. I don't recall how much it costs, but he said it worked perfectly.

Relieving Oneself Armored Up
tkrestonva replied to TK-6162's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
If you go right before you get suited up and only drink enough during the troop to prevent dehydration, it may not be a problem. If anything, I tend to sweat in armor so much that going #1 becomes a non-issue. -

New device to keep children from messing with your R2's
tkrestonva replied to RogueTrooper's topic in Off Topic
I actually like that idea, especially if you add the R2 scream sound effect. Very easy to do if you have the skills to build an R2 in the first place and it would certainly get everyone's attention, yet at the same time completely harmless. -
New device to keep children from messing with your R2's
tkrestonva replied to RogueTrooper's topic in Off Topic
Wow. I hope he's not seriously going to install a taser in his R2 unit. Not really a child-friendly person, is he? I'm as protective of my stuff as anyone, and I understand those R2 units take years to build and cost many thousands of dollars. Still, I can't see tasing someone's kid, no matter how frustrated I get. Can you imagine the story in the local newspaper the following day? -
TK-2618 requesting EIB ESB status.[92][FX]

Looking much better. -
I also like the idea but it seems to me that an official EIB stealth trooper program should be managed by the Spec Ops detachment, with the FISD providing technical advice and an example on which to model the program. In my mind, an EIB-qualified stealth trooper would be an ANH-style TK but with black armor and grey highlights (ab buttons, TK lenses, etc.). Are there any official references?

I think it would be helpful to have another set of photos (front, left, rear, right, action pose) with you suited up. -
Looks good, Joey. Here's a pic of me in my HWT setup. Once I get around to removing the tattoos on the pauldron (or getting a new pauldron), I'll submit for HWT EIB.

TK 8315 requesting EIB for ANH Stunt.[89][VT]

Congratulations. -
I agree that screen-accurate is a better fit for thin (by American norms) troopers, but taller troopers will still have the same issue with excess black showing at the knees, hips, or both. ------------

Duty Day at the Pacific Outpost
tkrestonva replied to Femtrooper Julie's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Looking good, meaning both you and the beach. Thanks for the warm images Julie, I could use some of that right about now. We got over 20 inches of snow this weekend here in the Washington D.C. area. Much of that snow is now dirt-imbued slush and ice, just in time for the Monday morning commute. On top of all that, today is the winter solstice, the shortest day / longest night on the calendar, and the "official" start of winter. Normally I like having a window office, but not today. Makes me want to blow off the rest of the year and catch the next flight to the Cayman Islands. I miss summer already. I'm soooo bummed . . . -
And a good teaching tool on magnetic attraction/repulsion.

Hmmn, When someone makes an unsolicited offer to "rent a costume" it immediately raises a yellow flag for me. I figure you got tagged because you're in the NYC-area, possibly helped by the exposure you got from the Today Show shoot. Up to you whether or not to accept. I won't bother quoting the 501st's policy on something like this, I'm sure you're already well aware of it. Either way, I'd approach with caution and, if you agree to do this, make sure you're one of the people physically present along with the model, photographer, etc. Despite the assurances to the contrary, people tend to treat stuff they rent differently from stuff they own. Keep us posted, I'm interested in hearing how this turns out.

TK-5069 requesting EIB ANH Stunt.[88][FX]
tkrestonva replied to TK-5069's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
You'll probably need a better photo of the lenses and blaster D-ring. It looks like you've got it covered, but it's hard to be sure. -
Even with RT Mod, you won't be able to entirely cover the black showing at the knees and hips. TK armor is optimized for troopers who are 5'9" or so. For taller guys (like myself), about the best you can do is center the thigh armor on your leg so that you split the difference. There was a guy here who was experimenting with modding FX thighs to make them longer, but I haven't heard anything recent. If you can find a couple of old spares, you may be able to cut them up and combine them as an experiment.

I just rewatched that scene a few times, going frame-by-frame. I still think the character you're referring to - standing in the front row toward the left side of the greeting party - is San Hill, standing there with the rest of the Separatist Council. Darth Sidious' order to Grievous in the same scene to send the Council to Mustafar kind of backs that up. The same character can be seen a few minutes later standing up and walking away after Grievous informs them of their destination. A posted screen-grab would be nice proof either way.

And one more on top of that: ---------

Why not go with the green bubble lenses you already have? Bubble lenses, by their very nature, are difficult to see out of. You pretty much have to be looking dead-center in order to see clearly, everything else will be distorted due to the lens curvature and how it bends the light coming in. The more bubbled the lens, the more severe the distortion will be. Like Nathan said, green is the more accurate option although either green or gray is currently acceptable for EIB.

Cold and overcast here in the Washington, D.C. area. Around 40 degrees F. At least the rain/snow mix finally stopped.
