We have talked about this on the SLD some. Apparently there is a member there who is close friends with the guys who are this company and they are all big fans. From their Vader information they have said that their vader will be a more generic version, so not related to one specific movie but rather a generic all movie vader. Also, he says that the guys have had full access to teh LFL archives, so they may have the ability to make molds/castings/scans of original gear. It has the potential to be good. But it will not replace any of the current vendors, it will just be another option. Most likely it will be general gear that can be classified as a stormtrooper, but nothing like TM, RS, CFO and so on that are movie specific 100% accurate replicas.

The final moments of this suit in my possession as it gets ready to head to it's new owner. Helmet in Legs and arms in Torso and belt in Stuffing on top to fill any small gaps Now I am suffering from a case of post-partem depression.

Thats the problem with messing heavily with unknown people. With the overabundance of information about people all over the internet, we aren't so unknown as we think we are. Then, with such a large organization all over the USA and the world, when you mess with the people here like this, one of his friends might be your neighbor. And just because we're part of a SW costuming group, doesn't mean we're all peaceful. There is nothing to say that there aren't a few homicidal maniacs in the group. Since 501st membership doesn't require a police certificate showing you're not a criminal. Long story short, don't be a menace on the internet, you might get bit.

Yeah, those photos are the ones I mean... nearly impossible to really see. I didn't think you were trying to back him, was just stating my points. If it's real, he has a nice piece of history, but 15k worth? Well, thats up to the buyer I guess. An item's true value is what someone will pay for it

Awesome you got your stuff back!

Yeah man, thats rough, sorry to hear that! I would def ask around if someone else picked it up for safe keeping, and ask the event organizers/ build custodians if they have it.

Start to finish ANH Stunt Video Tutorial?
Dday replied to Grimez's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
This is the video generation, but look at some WIP's they are just photos, but it's enough to get you going. I just got done with a build and I moved pretty quickly, it took me 30 hours to complete. There are some who do it faster, there are some who do it slower, but lets say there is a super professional who can do it in 10 hours. Then with editing, we can compress this down to 5 hours. Do you really want to spend 5 hours watching a video of making a trooper when you can use that time to actually build one yourself? Heck, even compressing down to two hours.... -
Well, assuming this is the same helmet, since the Christies auction doesn't have shots from the back/side of the helmet, and that the ebay auction is not just a replica of the same helmet. The question I have, why did the guy take such bad photos? Huge size, they are hard to see because they dominate of 27 inch monitor so I can barely see each photo at once, plus the photos were cut out of the background they were taken in..... quite poorly. You'd think for $15,000 he could take some more professional photos.

Oh, good call, completely forgot about those! Haha, I got all the rivets, I'll dab up the screws on the torso as well. A second set of eyes is always helpful.

The finished shots updated and this WIP is now closed

Well, KC has banned him, I thought he was standing up for the KC... lol, this guy is bat shi! crazy.

Well, I don't have 3 sets of armor currently. Just this one I'm currently working on for someone. The only set I have left that will stay for the foreseeable future is my Vader It makes sense that Vader would have a custom TK factory

Dizzy presents: my thoughts on recasting
Dday replied to DizzyStormtrooper's topic in Recasting Discussion
I'm of the mind that copying from the first part w/o the express permission of the originator is wrong. Castings taken from the original trooper armor is wrong unless the caster got permission from the maker of the original pieces. So... To copy an original part is wrong to copy a copy of a part is wrong to make your own in the same way the original was made with the same parts is ok To buy a new part is ok -
Dizzy presents: my thoughts on recasting
Dday replied to DizzyStormtrooper's topic in Recasting Discussion
Unless you were casting with the permission of scifire to sell over here, or bought directly from him, imported them and then resold. But again, this isn't really recasting . Even though casting them over here, with permission or not, qualified as recasting... but if you do it with his permission, it's ok recasting. Regardless, he probably won't give permission anyways, since his blasters have a secret sauce I guess. -
I think the seller has a responsibility to keep their thread active. Even on a long running project, a bump every 30 days isn't much.
-
Only if they are not active. It seems based on what was said, if they have no activity in 90 days, they are archived. So make a point to bump your sales thread once a month. This isn't trolling replies, it's keeping things active. 90 days is a long time. Personally, if I see a sales thread when I'm looking for something that hasn't been used in over 90 days. I won't buy from that.

Diana's RS Props Build- ANH Stunt
Dday replied to AsBlondeAsLuke's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Sounds like a plan! The best thing to do as a TK is to find a vader and stick on him! -
Diana's RS Props Build- ANH Stunt
Dday replied to AsBlondeAsLuke's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Us outsized people gotta stick together -
Yes, this build is based on centurion standards, I'm of the mind to go big or don't go at all It's more of an optical illusion based on angle, they actually are aligned with the edges of the belt. As of now, the elastic is only riveted down to the drop box, so they can tip forward a little, giving the illusion of misalignment. I will end up gluing (just a drop or 2) the straps at the top of the box to help keep them in line.

If this was done, you'd have to foot the bills on your own. I"m sure any garrison would have happy to take you out, as long as you were paying to get there.

bump for progress in post 1

I agree with Germain on this, ab plate first! That being said, if there is a mess up with the positioning of the lower rivets, it's not problem, because they are hidden by the belt

Hey, nice job! Voted.
