ShadyP's FOTK built thread (Backstage Props - preorder FOTK)
gmrhodes13 replied to ShadyP's topic in TLJ Build Threads
We can get caught up in building and tend to miss the odd photo or two, three, four. Great news your replacement ab boxes have arrived. I did see BSP post an image of the backplate they are modifying the mold, interested to see the updates. -
happy days

I have one on top of my knee, built my Anovos FOTK in 10 days from start to painted and approval, was just before the premier of TFA, was in such a rush trimming I dropped the Dremel with cutting disc going full speed on top of my thigh, no time to bleed so it was out with a rag and the superglue, I have a nice scar there and it reminds me each time I see it about the build, I don't regret doing it at all but boy it was annoying for a week or so

Great news, I know KB has been doing updates and although I've not seen any face to face what I've seen online is looking promising. Looks like your going to have a big box under your Christmas tree this year

You'll need to add a little white paint to the rivets on the knee ammo strip You could also increase the curve on the ammo strip plate Also check your TD length the end caps look quite long Fall of the tube stripes should be greater at the top than bottom (back) ////////////////// (front) Could also add some white to the rim of the hovi tips -
Atually if your read the CRL there are 3 options, the middle does not say the decals need to look hand painted, just decals Tears, traps, and tube stripes may be hand painted, decals, or decals that replicate hand painted An easy fix is to hand draw over the black lines with a black permanent marker, being giving that tip for a few years now. Appears you may have painted your holster rivets? May be the photo but brow trim looks a bit angled You could also add a little white to the hovi tip rims Good luck on your application

Ouch, now those are armor bites, it's a right of passage so wear them with honor

You may need a little foam behind your sniper knee plate to help hold it away from your thigh. It's amazing how a little weight loss or gain can change the fit of the armor.

Engineerch1ck’s WTF ANH Stunt Build Thread

Nice work coming along great, just on the sides the brow trim is a little angled if you compare to the traps, I'll add a couple of references. -
Project : Shocking (Shock Trooper Build)

Great work, the weathering is coming out great, something got be said about going old school with tooth paste -

Ouch. Locally we have a product called Goo Remover, it dissolves glue residue without affecting the plastic (but can damage other plastic) always best to try on a test piece first. You may be able to find something similar at your end. Screws shouldn't be too tight I would think and would have nuts behind, just a case of using a socket or spanner behind and apply pressure to the screw head while turning. Here's a handy image of snap placement, many of us use the double snap method, can save you at a troop if one snap fails
-
It does look to be angling upwards at the front, I would suggest try gluing a strip of plastic behind, just a little narrower than your brow trim, the trim will cover the cut line and won't be seen, could be an easy fix so don't panic just yet
-
Awesome work, congrats on getting it finished and commiserations for not winning, but you are a winner, you have taken on a project with little build info and you have come out the other side mostly unscathed (apart from some loss of sanity and armor bites) Congratulations

Staffa359 Requesting Pre Approval Review (AP)
gmrhodes13 replied to Staffa359's topic in Request TK Pre-Approval
Sorry I didn't see this when it was first posted. Just a couple of things straight up, your chest plate is not covering the ab plate, there should be no gap there, looks like your ab may be able to come a little more. Also biceps should sit just under the shoulder bell, one is and the other is not (both are not on the rear photo) moving the biceps up with allow more room at the elbow, also bring the forearms up a little, you are touching your hand plates. Tops of boots sticking out under shins. At the back of the boots you also have black lines, shouldn't be there, may need to paint this white. Also the shoulder straps on the rear are sitting upwards, may need a bend down, one appears not to be reaching the back plate. You have a very large gap on the side, you may want to even this out or try tighter strapping. Drop boxes should align with the end of the plastic belt section, adding a little glue to the straps can keep them in place, you could reduce the length of the straps also, only need a few mm's Stunt version have a higher brow trim than Hero's but should be ok for basic approval. You could also add some white to the mic tip ridges. There should be no grey on the gums around the frown, look like you may have a little paint there. A few tweaks and you should be good to go. Great work and good luck with approval -
Here's a great ATA helmet build thread to reference

You may want to try to upload some higher resolution images, bit hard to see details in your images. Nice work, you may also want to check your TD dimensions, not much gap between end caps and cover plate, end caps look a little large Vocoder could be cleaned up a little, paint outside mold lines Also add white to the inside of the mic tips and on the ridge Good luck with approval -
Looking forward to the updates, good luck

Nice work trooper, just a couple of tweaks would really make you stand out. You do have a little bit of return edges in some places, A couple of your fine black lines are a little wide/narrow in places, I find going over with a permanent marker can help straighten lines . Also notice the top trap is a little on an angle compared to the recess Vocoder you can see a couple of areas of black which have gone further than the mold lines, first step. Could be just the photos but looks as if your lenses are set quite a distance back from the faceplate Looking forward to seeing your other images. Good luck with approval
