  1. Congratulations trooper and welcome to the ranks, looking forward to seeing your EIB application.
  2. Ideally all of the recess area should be painted in your traps, you have a lot of white remaining References Inside of your hovi's (mic tips) should be white and you can add some white to the rims. Could be the images but looks like your lenses have quite a big gap in the sides.
  3. No they are not a requirement for higher levels, some do add them as they are more accurate. RS have them on their kits as they do use the bracket strapping system.

  5. Ideally the notch should align with the bottom ridge, I would match your bottoms notches to the armor and trim the top to suit References A great build for those of short stature
  6. Looks like you are off to a great start, ears are the worst. Nice looking blaster. Looking forward to seeing your progress, good luck
  7. I know the F1 racking use a film over their lenses which they can remove. I have a few scratches on my lenses over the years but if you are careful cleaning you should be ok.
  8. You can add either some velcro or elastic and snaps behind the boots/shins to keep them straight and stop them pulling up when bending.
  9. Well that depends on what armor you have, there is quite a big difference in color from one maker to another depending on their local supply of ABS, comparing them together can look as different as stark white to cream. Personally I eye color match the paint, I have an air brush so mix my own paint for touch ups.
  10. Nice work so far, just make sure you don't have any weathering on the T tracks or handle/grip as these were black plastic and would not have any metal weathering. Looking forward to seeing your kitted up photos.
  11. Hello and welcome aboard, looking forward to seeing your finished photos

  13. Also make sure you follow the CRL's (costume reference library) base standards for 501st legion approval https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Here is a datasheet showing the differences between the versions https://drive.google.com/file/d/10tEVteIreh6AHMogW010cuH_Bf8TBfU6/view Also when adding images from imgur try using the "direct link" as your image with then show, an info thread here
  14. I used standard sewing cotton and just sewed around until I got the appearance of references.

  16. I used JB weld for the yoke, you do get quite a lot of strain while putting on and off so any filler may crack between the join. At the end of the day what ever you are comfortable using.

  18. A heat gun does take some practice, plastic can go to movable to molten mess in the wink of an eye, less is more. When using the hot water bath method, when you move a piece to were you want it go a little further and hold in that position until it has cooled, it will relax a little once cool, it's already been molded to a specific was so will try to return to that until completely cooled. The brackets on RS don't allow for much movement, you may want to try some snap plates and elastic to give you a little more room. A lot of the armors are really suited for those 6' and under so you are just over the limit so may need some gap on the back.
  19. I use a hole punch and masking tape, same type of method as Tony
  20. You have the right attitude, it's a little more work now but will be well worth it in the end. What you do now will help others in the future. Great to hear you may have enough excess material from the kidney to use. Looking forward to seeing you tackling it, good luck.
  21. Another image Here is an overlay Here is a better side view of the side showing the front angle section which appears raised. Here's a clearer image of the side from the Mandalorian I think I would cut that piece out, replace with another piece of ABS, join and fill the gaps, then cut an angle on the side and overlap to give the appearance of a raised area. Here is a rough overlay of the two angles from the CRL Crude example I have just emailed 850 and made them aware the angled section is incorrect and supplied the references showing so, they may make an update to their molds, hopefully. Or maybe they won't, here is 850's reply No, it is not being changed. We have had plenty of suits approved in current and past states.
  22. Hello and welcome aboard, good luck with the build こんにちは、ようこそ、ビルドで頑張ってください Kon'nichiwa, yōkoso, birudo de ganbattekudasai
  23. Some images would help us for feedback. You shouldn't have a gap between the chest and ab plates, on the rear some gap is allowable for basic approval.
  24. Wire and broom handle is pretty usual, I've had success with coat hanger wire it seems to have some springiness to it so you can still use the cocking level. Some have used the spring you find in some radiator hoses.
  25. Looks like someone has a very steady hand, well done, looks great
