  1. My 1 piece was shot after 4yrs of trooping and i heard only good things about this set, so i ordered it. havenmt trooped in it yet, but its comfy and i really like it.
  2. Yea i second that Paul is one of the best when it comes to accuracy!
  3. yea, i meant rent out there, but i have no idea whats available to you in Germany lol. Well as far as commercially available, the Rubies Supreme Boba Fett is the only one i know of. It looks...ok but the cost is what kills it for me. If it was $300 it would be fine. But it is usually over $600. I dont know of any other option The nice Boba suits are made by a bunch of different makers making different parts and can take at the very least 6 months and upwards to build depending on your budget and when certain makers are making certain parts and how long it takes to make them. Its quite a process. I agree with Jonathan...there really should be SOMEONE from the german garrison willing to stop by! If you really want Fett...try asking over on thedentedhelmet.com I know of at least 3 Fetts that are from Germany over there.
  4. Yes, exactly what he said! For the money, you'd be better off buying a kit from a vetted maker here. Rubies supreme Stormtrooper suits run about $1000. Plus probably at least $100 worth of replacement parts...not counting the helmet, which should go directly in the trash and be replced with a EFX or a kit from a vetted maker here. A full stormtrooper kit from a vetted maker here could run as low as $495. And you will need to get an undersuit and strapping and such. Total cost for a nice Stormie would be about 1,100 or so. But it will fit you correctly and be higher quality and much better looking. The rubies will need to be restrapped at the very least so it will stay on you. It really should be taken apart and re assembled to fit you properly. All that is just to get it to look ok. The makers here sell kits you'd have to assemble, but at least you woulnt have to take them apart first lol. So its really less work and less money to get a kit form a maker here, that is assuming you want it for more than just 1 day to surprise your son. Most of the makers have a wait time of at the very very least, 2 weeks, so for November 17th...you MAY be able to swing it if you can get a kit quick enough. As for a store in NYC that carries Rubies Supreme stuff...Halloween adventure near 14th st in NYC usually carries it. Maybe renting one would be more the way to go for what you want to do, assuming you can find one for rent. The same goes true for the Rubies Supreme Boba Fett. Man it is AWFUL and Very expensive. But for a 6yr old..it may be just fine. Again, possibly renting would be a good option A decent Boba Fett suit will run you $3000. Mine is at about $5,500 at this point, just to give you some perspective.
  5. ...oh and for the record...i like the shirt design too
  6. Soooo...To get back on the original topic lol... Dude, you have no idea how much 501st stuff there is! lol Everything you mentioned and thensome! Plus patches, challenge coins and stickers, bumperstickers..ive even seen socks!! once your in..you may get addicted lol
  7. Ok yea thats what i thought. I just saw people saying its not approveable...and was like why not? Its just FX basically. Of course i get the whole crap quality and it being recast and the price hike as good reasons to not buy it. that one point just seemed a bit off.
  8. Ya know, isnt that jedirobe armor recast FX? Im sure its crap quality, but why wouldnt it be approveable? FX armor is still legion approveable. It looks the same. less some softer details and probably bad quality. Not that im saying to get, or even keep it, just a thought on the look of it.
  9. I agree, but unfortunately, the legion has a policy of not getting involved in recast debate. :/
  10. ...and to make it worse, its 600 bucks for HIPS!.....for recast FX HIPS ugh..horrible.
  11. http://www.501st.com...pic.php?t=72617 Looks like recast FX armor with a TE linage helmet. here is his sales pitch:
  12. You guys are saying the Aker is bulky???? i guess you guys werent around for the predecessor of the Aker! lol ----------- This looks promising though, curious as to how well it works as a voice amp regarding feedback n such
  13. ATA is just about $***, its accurate and a very nice ABS kit. i would go for that if you cant swing the *** for AP. I would Avoid recast e-bay armor by all costs. You may be able to tell in pics that the armor has a soft pull, but what you cant see, like the durability of the plastic, can hurt even more.
  14. Yep i was goona say....Dengar armor...i see its been pointed out a couple of times already. Yep Dengar is a bounty hunter from ESB that you see briefly when Vader is briefing the bounty hunters about finding the millennium falcon. The armor is painted a rust/brown color and worn over a grey jumpsuit.
  15. You can make your masters out of almost anything you can get the shapes from (less someone elses armor lol) Like was mentioned above Foam with bondo or plaster over it or somehting similar. If the materials cant withstand the vac-forming, you can make molds of them and cast the masters in resin. Alumilite makes a resin specifically for this purpose.

  17. Hey Ingrid! yea we have a few events around that time...i have to check the forum again..i can never keep track. But myself and my wife may be able to meet up with ya for some pizza and cannolis! lol I'll let ya know when its a little closer!
  18. I fit my entire set of gear, including the helmet in a bin the same size as this. The contico one like this: It actually says on it that its airline standard size acceptable.I had the same fear as you though...if they were to open it, they would just shove it back in there. I shipped mine to C6 via UPS. My inlaws have a business account so i used that and being im on the east coast, it was only 27 bucks each way.
  19. haha no problem! Im not even a big wrestling fan myself, but one of my close freinds is and he had showed that to me and i always thought it was hilarious. ......"i think that was uncle Fred" LMAO
  20. Im liking what your coming up with Karin. Very similar thought process to my own. The floor mat is great! lol i think the spacing/size looks almost perfect on that. Hard to say if there is in fact a taper..but im sure it will be worked out! Something i just thought of for the future, would be to maybe cast them in black silicone rubber. it will hold up much longer than latex would. Sweat deteriorates latex. So these would have to be cleaned immediately after each use if made in latex rubber. I know this from owning a few high end latex masks Just something to keep in the back of your mind for after you get the master down, make a few of these, and know what your dealing with. Either way...im gonna want one
