    You can scuff them with some charchol dust or the like too, then clean it back off. After several troops, the boots will have "natural" scuffing anyway.

    No, it needs to be looked into further. It doesn't appear to be 501st approved, if it was, the seller would most likely offer it on the 501st forum and here as well. I'd be cautious.

    I do you the ptt and I have noticed that the vox isn't working now when I wanted to use it a week ago, it only is working on ptt. I'm not sure what changed but I suspect one of the commponents may have been affected by moisture. You may try the ppt and see if it works better.
