  1. Ok.....I'll do it......(it's not like I have to bell a cat)..."Gee, why do you have plaster on your belt".
  2. I'm starting from scratch again. I have had X2 FX rig's and X2 types of lid's. FX and RT. The way I see it is what do you want. To join the 501st? To troop in? Just for the 'man cave"? I just have a few more parts to come in and I'll start both an EP3 all white Clone, and a TK ANH and do the build at the same time for both. Even in the movies the armor don't match up. Bubble len's or flat. Dark tint or Flat green. If I could just see a little bit better I would go with the bubble lens. As far as the green len's I just get one hell of a migraine after just one hour wearing them. I'm going with "safty" first. That in the end is how I'm going to go with my two builds. You have to be able to see and move if your going to troop in them. Why go to the trouble building a full armor/helmet set-up if you have to put it on "in place" and then take baby step's to one spot and then just stand there. I picked up one of the MR TK bucket's when they first came out. Not once did I feel any need to mod the stuffing out of it to really wear it. I polish it now and then and it from the outside look's cool. And that's all it's for. Screen look go's with safty first better.
  3. I have seen that clip too. I think what they are doing in it is "tieing down" the clam shell calf to the boot so when they run in the DS the calf stays down and not slip over the top of the boot.
  4. Hi Rob, well just as i sent you a "free gift" in the mail! I see this. As much as I love my RT lid, and even being one of the "short" type's of trooper's I would love an RT bucket that was a wee bit larger...LOL...watch your mail at home !
  5. You rock! That is sooooo coolllllll! The kid's on his block must think he is way cooool! (can I buy a set!)
  6. Good Day guy's! I've been at CT Net and doing other thing's and not been here much. Right now I'm waiting on my "short" size Clone Trooper armor to come in the mail! I'll post some of the build pic's here too if all would like. I dont know if this counts as for real but i'll post it too. In Vancouver (that's BC Canada) we have a TV Telethon in February on every year as far as I can remember. Hint I still remember watching "Allen Funt's" Candid Camera on TV! The year I can't recall but it must have been the late 70's . The people running the show made a big thing in TV ad's that "Darth Vader" and the Imperial Army would be on. I could'nt get my older brother's to go with me to be in the audience, you could get in free. With big fan fair the big event came and Vader came on stage with two TK's. One of the trooper's had his back plate on front and his chest plate on his back! After a brake the show came back on and it was back the way it should be. I remember this well. It was in 81 that I joind the Canadian Forces and found out that we used the same (Canadian Type) of Sterling, or S.M.G as the 'Storm Trooper's". I found out just before I joined so became a Weapons Technician, and as just a Private, (only Officer's and Sgt's got to play with them on field training) got to play with them all the time!
  7. Welcome. And yes the open wallet part is sooooooooo true! I would like to suggest you start with a well made FX kit. It's pretty much the mose EZ kit for a "new-guy" to build, it's not tooooo hard on the wallet, and you get to see if this "trooper" thing is something you will stay with (for more the a few week's that is!) The re-sale of FX/or parts is not too bad too. I'm re-starting a clone rig now myself, the bucket's working out but I'll have to send off for a new body armor parts at the end of this month! (open wallet)
  8. Most should understand what I mean in the diagarm. I post this for info only but found the instructions that come with the FX kit not very good.
  9. I have the MR Vader saber, I wanted to have at least one saber as part of my SW collection. Is the Force FX saber more or less the same? Now, what's this "good-guy bad guy" stuff?? We troopers didn't start the Clone Wars, other's did! We didn't flood the galaxy with Hut's, Black Sun scum, smuglers, spice runner's after the war, others did! We troopers just did our duty! (well, there was that little brew-ha on that moisture farm , but they where suspected reb's! )Why if not for us loyal, gallant troopers, where would the galaxy be?
  10. Try looking in automotive body repair stores for tools. I have 3 12" deep clamps, and I love them! Cost me about $24 Canadian at the time. There made in China so I don't see a manufacture stamp on them. I got them from a Vehical Tech from my old battalion so next week I'll try to see if he's still there and the name of the shop he got them from and post the name/place here.
  11. Good point! When I say "a little" velcro, I mean just that a small bit, say a tab at the top or bottom, just to get a good grip as you can walk a pace or two, just to see if your trim work don't pinch! ( I should have said that sooner! Oh and yes at times some clamping may be needed, just don't crank the @#$% out of it. Again use a few scraps and see how much glue it takes, and try clamping them. When you fell ready then move onto the real parts.
  12. Stress points. Thats what you have to keep in mind. Where your body moves, how much room do you need. How much pushing and pulling on all parts as is on your body. Yes I am very much into keeping your armor ready for updating and re-trimming as much as possible. Velcro dose have some good uses. Case in point, as you come close to the end of all your trimming, try useing a little velcro and tape to hold all the parts on yourself. That way you can move a little and see if all is well before gluing. I use a mix of stuff. Some points I use glue, and at high stress points I still use abs glue. It's also good to build your "gluing" skills with scrap parts or cut off's. From what I have learned so far I just can't see "velcro" only as the way to go.
  13. First is "why" take the planet. To deny the Republic a planet? As part of a plan of "terror"? For resources? When you have a plan, then work to that type of plan. Send in recon units. As has been stated, find "shatter" point's, key city's, industrial centers. Land bat-droid's and set up holding or forward operating centers. Land thing's like mobile droid manufacturing unit's to make up losses untill you controll most planet side centers. Note, droids don't need water/food as such so try to take main centers of distribution point's for them. Remember move offensively, set up F.O.A, fight defensively. Let them come to you. Beat them down, then move your area of controll a bit more. Use SD's in orbit to track and plot large troop unit's and you may take the larger ones out with SD fire. Five SD's with full ground troop/armor should do. CONTROLL THE AIR, and orbit of the planet. Note- "Star Distroyer" can mean any large Sep or GAR fleet ship of same size.
  14. Rat's! And here I was thinking my "red" hat would get me a nice civie job! Congrat's!
  15. Sgt Steve

    Weather?

Wet and COLD! And more wet and COLD!!!!!!!
  16. Hey all, this is just a "Thing to make you go Hmmmmmm". Of all the little extra's I've seen on this and CE board, you know the singel jack hook up you have to make to rig up the small 8ohm speaker's with to plug into any board for sound? I just suck at job's like that and my hook up work's but is the "Coyote Ugly", of wiring. I would like to kick out to all you maker's of thing's out there to see if you could make set's of the jack lead out part. I can solder the red/black wire from the speaker's ok, but a real "Pro" made jack/lead out to the Y red/black to speakers would be cool.
  17. Good day Vode. Last week I got my Rom/fx in the mail, (they didn't charge me duty this time!). It's late for me right now, and I just got it "in" my RT lid. It's not fancy right now, well it's more like rat's nest! At first I tryed to use the speaker that came with it, taped behind my chest plate, just under my front. Now it was loud, sharp, but still got some feed back, and the chest plate didn't fit too well. I don't really want to have it on my belt because I want the "speach" coming from my face/front of my lid. I remember my troubles with my FX lid and Trik sound board and all the feed back when I hooked it up with 8ohm speaker's in the "tusk's". When I got my Rt lid, Rob also sent some 8ohm speakers. I just "ruf" installed the board with them, and it sound's not just "ok", but really good! Yes not too loud, but if I am standing the average pace in front of some one,it should sound just fine! Of all the board's Ive had so far, the Rom/fx board sound's the most like the movie Troopers. And when I do get my Clone stuff done, you can set the board to have just a "radio" static sound like the Clone's. There is very little room in the RT lid with my fat head, so I have to pull my lid on real slow, but still, NO feed back, sound's just fine with small front speaker's, and very close to the "movie" sound. If you can, get one!
  18. I also suggest taking the Caboot's (if you can/have spare cash) to a shoe maker and have a Vibram sole added to them. I had a "working" plan going even before I got them in the mail, so as soon as I got them I dropped them off to have the new sole added. The guy who did them said that the big cost is the "first time" sole work done. As they wear in the heel ect, to have the sole heplaced will be a lot less. Also for the shorter Trooper's out there(like me) with the Vibram sole added and some shoe insert's added(like Dr Shole's) you get a bit of a boost in hight without looking silly!
  19. It reminds me of the old TV show 'The Invaders"....maybe the Hut's are here and some one there has "seen" how they look....or if your into BSG...they started as big space slug's....now they look like us.....and they have a plan!
  20. Now I know what you been up to! Hi Steve, Steve here, and I must say, 33...your a kid still! Way up here in the cold north, I'm in the process of getting out of the army up here on a medical release, after 28 long years! (by the way unlike some of my Army friends, I for one respect the "Ladys in the Navy"! ) You think 33 is too old? Up here the last few years I worked as a recruiter and I sent more the a few files with app's from 33,34,38, even 40 year old's....with degree's....for "Officer" enlistment. That sheep skin will help you out big time. Or should, I don't know that much about the US military enlistment reg's but as far as I know to have a degree open's doors in any military force. It can be a very good life for an Officer in any military, so good luck!
  21. When I bit the bullet, I picked up 2 pair of the Caboots. I also have a pair of "dye job" boot's, that I did before I found out about the Caboots. I still have the nice, dull, ready for sand ones. After I dyed them, they right away struck me as real good TD boot's.
  22. If you got a "Lid List" going......put me on it!......(oh and armor list if ya got that going too!) Very good work!
  23. Ohhh Kool! The room by mine is free '35!
  24. Note to Nate....with that lil bit of stuff you got? Your just fine, no need for "help" or med's at all....(if you pass say the $6000.00 range buying junk like this ......then have a re-think!) Note to Staff XO.....Sir if that "other" costume your Wife don't know about has 3" pump's and a wip..........I'm out of here!
  25. It should be 20. Both Luke and Leia born after the end of the Clone Wars, and it takes 20 years to go from Clone trooper to TK. But everything points to the fact they still use clones as troopers, the armor changes, and they use a mix of men for trooper templates.
