  1. Well, I sent a newbie in the UKG my spare hand-guards because he lost his when we had an armour party. Not much, I know, but hopefully I can do more over the years - unless I lose my 501st status because I haven't been able to troop yet.
  2. Looking really nice. I can sympathize with the thigh problem as I'm having some probems with mine too. There isn't really anything I could add that you haven't mentioned already. I honestly don't think there's much you need to do to your armour.
  3. If you want to bend your armour then use a hairdryer. I had to bend mine to fit it around my waist and that's what was used. Use an up down motion (Or side to side or even circular) to heat it up. Just make sure you keep it moving so you don't get any hot-spots and the plastic can bubble. Then just bend it slowly. Once it's in position, hold it there untill it cools enough to set.
  4. The friends one I went to was cool. I went as a TK and now I know that I need to make mods and cuts to my armour. I can't post pics at the moment as my laptop is almost dead. Once I get something sorted I'll update with some pics.
  5. Hmm. Not sure if this is alright, but what I have is a piece of elastic on a snap going from the shoulder to the bicep. You can't see it as it's black and behind my arm.
  6. Looks good, but just MY personal preference; I'd move the thighs up your leg a few inches.
  7. Hmm. Well before you completely panic and rush out and buy another. Try it on with your armour. It might not look that bad. It may look rather loose in the pictures, but remember you're going to have most of your limbs and body covered in plastic.
  8. It all depends what you're after. If it's just simple amplification, then something like that will do however if you want the whole static burst and voice altering and amplification, then you 'need' to get a RomFX or something similar. But for a cheap device then you can't go far wrong with the voice changer.
  9. Shoulder bridge should go over the front of the chest. The ammo strip that needs to be rivited. It looks ok, but I'm not 100% sure, so I'd wait untill some of the more experienced fellas here can advise you as well.
  10. Dan Aykroyd+Vodka+Cool looking bottle = more win than can be added together using simple mathmatics.
  11. A nice kit but I'd always advise against buying pre glued armour. As others have said, if it doesn't fit you - which it probably wont - it's gonna take more work to prise it apare, cut and re-glue it all.
  12. That's one sexy looking blaster. You did a good job with it.
  13. You could send the seller a question and hopefuly it'll get added so everyone that views the auction can see it.
  14. Is it a member here? Maybe you can find out if he's a member of the 501st or not. Ebay armour is always risky, especialy if you don't know who the seller is.
  15. Congrats to you all. Maybe in 12 months time I'll be up to 1,000 posts.
  16. So sorry to hear of your loss. Don't rush back to anything. Everyone will understand there will be a delay in you getting stuff out to people.
  17. Wow. I never noticed sideways TD guy. That's awesome Mine is pretty much in the middle. I could do with a set of TD ends as mine have cracked.
  18. By all the transformers movies I take it you mean the Michael bay rubbish and not the 1980's catoon, because that is EPIC. A friend of mine didn't see the star wars movies untill he was in his mid 20's. Also the guy watched them in order despite me pleading with him not to.
  19. Well you can either have a 'T' shape piece and attach it that way or you could have a piece of elastic that goes fom one side, over your neck and to the other.
  20. Welcome to the FISD. This is a great place and we'll get you through your TK build should you need any assistance.
  21. Mine is secured with a long strip of velcro that's almost as wide as the belt is. It's also as long as the overlap is so it's plenty secure. The plastic front is held on with snaps.
  22. Also a BIG problem you'd have is that everyone here has cut their armour to fit them, so unless you happen to be pretty much identical in stature the armour wouldn't fit you anyway. You might be able to find a costume shop that rents out costumes, but even if they did have a full suit to hire out, it'd be a rubies one. Err. you COULD make a suit out of cardboard and paper mache if you're skilled enough with a pair of scissors.
  23. Nah I'd stay off ebay if I were you. ATA a seller/maker on here has some really reasonably priced armour and it looks great.
  24. We're all mad over here. Almost as mad as our inconsitant weather. Back on topic. I used the inside of a hard hat. You know the kind? The ones you get on a building site. Try E-bay. They're only a few quid.
