Cheers mate. How's your build going? Haven't seen you post anything in a while.

Thanks. Can't see me making the NSC. I'm working and it's a bit late to try and sort something out to get the day off swapped. Might have to wait untill there's an event closer to home. I'm in south Wales so hopefuly something in Cardiff or Swansea etc.

My armour. Will it pass this time?
TrooperVenger replied to TrooperVenger's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Yeah the bells for some reason today decided not to sit properly. They look and sit fine in my other pics. Again, I want to make minor alterations to the armour to make it sit better, but my ultimate concern was getting the back to sit closer and to fix the forearms. If my GML has issues with the shoulders I'll send pics I took previously. Again, heat plus me having a rather heavy cold and bad chest at the moment ment I just wanted the pics taken quickly so I could take off the armour and helmet and be able to breathe. -
My armour. Will it pass this time?
TrooperVenger replied to TrooperVenger's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Well I do need to alter the helmet foam, but I couldn't be arsed to mess around any longer. Today it's too damn stuffy to spend an hour getting the armour to sit perfectly only to be told something else isn't quite right with it and I'll have to alter it again. -
I just glued mine in with some E-6000

The grey on the ears is lighter but is the correct humbrol number. I didn't paint the frown and the tears are decals. My GLM didn't mention there being a problem with the variation in paint colour. As far as I'm aware, you don't need a black stripe on the ear. You can either have 0, 1, 2 or 3. If this isn't the case I can add 1. -
Here is my armour that has been altered slightly as per the instructions of the UKG. I hope this time it'll pass. Hopefuly it'll help anyone trying to make armour and get passed in the UKG.

Right side ab and kidney attachments ?
TrooperVenger replied to RedSpecial's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I have snaps on the inside and velcro. -
Yup and very greatful I was too. The arms are glued and setting at the moment. I've taken a look at the damaged on and the tear isn't that noticeable. Unless you get really close up you'd not see it. It's not as bad as I first thought. If I can, I'll post a pic later today or tomorrow.
-
Looking good. Few thing's that I'd change if it were me. Cut a bit off the bottom of the chest piece so you can see all the ab details. Cut the back plate so it doesn't sit too low and cover alot of the kidney plate. Entierly up to you of course. Just my 0.2

Holster Attaching
TrooperVenger replied to Murray1134's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Use chicago screws. They look like rivets but arn't permanent. That's what I used on my holster and it had plenty of length to go through the leather and a canvas belt with a layer of plastic inside. -
ATA would fit you.

Gonna have a go at fixing it in a mo. Leave it to dry overnight and see how it looks in the morning once it's dried.

The armour is from chimera bespoke. Yeah I know..ergh. I have seperated the forearm pieces now, but I got the bloody tear. I'll probably just glue the inside, stick on some duck tape and hope that the imperfection isn't too noticeable from the outside.
-
ARGH! Disaster! Whilst cutting through the glue to seperate the forearm my armour litteraly tore! For F sake! -------------- Not the best photo, but the best I can do. Might have to buy new forearms....ugh.
-
Yeah that's what I'll try to do. Heat up the shoulder bits on the back and then have the whole thing sit tighter to my back. I could feel that it was a bit loose, but didn't know for sure if it was so bad that it'd be a fail. It's an easier fix than the forearms - those are the things I'm most concerned about. Really not sure how to pull off the strips without damaging the forearms or cracking them or something. I can't just cut off the strips either, I really do need to get the strips off, cut more off the top portion of the forearms and make sure they're tighter, but not so tight I can't get my hands in.

Just got word back from the UK garisson regarding my armour. I failed my clearance. It's got some issues that need fixing. Apparently the FOREARMS and BACK need to be sorted. They're too big. Now the back isn't too much of an issue. I think if I just heat up the shoulders and have it sit closer to my body, it'll be alright. Maybe add some elastic that connects the back to the front might pull it in a bit. Forearms are the problem. I've glued the forearms closed with a covering strip on the inside and outside. I used E-6000. So can I somehow prise them apart or take the strips off so I can make them tighter on my arms? Can't afford to buy new forearms, so I'll have to mod the ones I have. I've included some pics that might help illustrate the problem and you guys' be able to offer some pro tips.

Balaclava for long haired troopers
TrooperVenger replied to BananoPower22's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
My hair isn't long really. But I use a motorbike baraclava. It's lightweight and breathable. I do have another one thats more a cotton material and I find it a bit hot. The one I prefer is a sort of lycra type material, It's fairly stretchy. -

TrooperVenger replied to sixxgunn13's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
No I was not referencing your comment. It was a broad generalisation based on several comments. Also how am I wrong? Have people not refered to the AA followers as 'blind fools' Or words to that effect?
