  1. Personally, I don't think it would matter too much either way. This shot is off the Landspeeder, the component piece had three fuses, but whether they used two, three or any I guess will always be a matter of contention. What you may want to consider too is the mounting of the cylinders, if your doing a genuine Sterling I took a hint from the Sterling blog spot and got some small neodymium magnets (a couple of pounds on eBay for 10). No screws rivets etc. They should give a nice and strong hold.
  2. Hi Andy, as promised a picture of the mounting screws: The head diameter is only 7mm, and 2mm in height. From the head to the end of the screw the measurement is 8mm. You have I believe the M (thread size) size. Although these are pictured with a partial thread, the threading could go the full length of the screw.
  3. Pretty much every scope I've seen be it M38/M40/M47 or the A series of these and M77A are all on the top?
  4. The screws are in the correct position on the side, you can just see them on one of the pictures earlier in the thread. I think they're to do with the lens, though don't quote me on that as I do not know. I think this end bit is part of the cast?
  5. Its been a little while since I added anything to this thread. To be honest not much has changed I've still to paint my scope rails and counters. Russ's cylinders are still on his to do list... However, thought I'd share this. My new upgrade I have after a long search found what I had long been looking for an M38 1942 scope (No 7) Though it has one feature which I think is relatively unique, and was wandering had anyone ever seen this before on one of their builds. The serial number is on the side and not on the top of the scope, I cannot see any weld marks or anything that makes me think this was once cut and shut so to speak, have I stumbled on something quite unique?

    Ebay armour-UK.

Why not wait a wee while and see what the guys from RS Prop Masters produce the early signs are sweet. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=16770
  7. Loving these shots, though I'm not sure I should be looking I've put my Blu-Ray copy away till x-mas.
  8. Thats coming along nicely, love the paint what is this generally used on. I've still to do my scope rails. It'd be nice to have something on them like this? Also is it painted on or sprayed?
  9. Does anyone know if that one will have the same build as the MR CE lid, so simply introduce the same problems of having the seam below the frown?
  10. I went the other way I got the MR CE first I didn't originally like the fact that the trooper helmet is kinda badly shaped, I always had this vision of it being symmetrical and flawless. Its only been recently that I've started to appreciate the true to screen look. I've got an RS helmet it is wicked, the service the guys provide is top class too.
  11. Think I'm somewhere between 4 and 5 at the mo, have brought it (about a week ago) but not yet viewed it
  12. Many happy returns Brian, not to many candles one hopes
  13. Since when have troopers been good? Dr Doom.
  14. I think thats probably something the guy is wearing to prevent a burn/rash on his neck, if you've ever worn a wet suit you often end up getting neck rash, simply from the heat, thats why you have rash vests to prevent it from happening.
  15. Aaaarrgh I crumbled. I succumbed to the dark side... Call it what you will but today I ended up buying myself a copy, though I only did so after using £20 worth of Morrisons vouchers to reduce the price. I had £10 saved from filling my tank at my local store and today (only applicable to those of us in the UK) but the Sun had a £10 off voucher for £60 worth of goods. The complete saga costs £64 in store. For anyone wandering the voucher in todays paper is usable till Saturday.
  16. Do you think the lid could have been a prototype? The book I recently picked up 'The Star Wars Archives: Props, costumes, models and artwork' has quite a few pictures of prototype models, especially ships in it. Unfortunately the book doesn't show a great deal of detail on many items, has I recal one trooper lid and the E-11 I think from Return of the Jedi
  17. I've reasoned this out in my head now as to what I'm going to do. The plan is simple... Basically I've ordered some cylinders for my E-11 build from Russ, this was some time ago, and I've recently read on the rpf that this run could start up again in the coming weeks, so I've decided I'll go out and buy a copy of the full box set once I have my order. This way it will either be a celabratory purchase, or it will simply never happen. My fate is now in Russ's hands!
  18. Actually I have another gripe about getting this, and it the artwork on the complete saga box. Of all that goes on in the 6 movies this was the best that they could come up with...seriously? I would have thought that the powers that be would have come up with a really wicked mash up of all the original movie posters or something this looks like David Carldine taking his long walk 'know what I mean grasshopper'.
  19. So now I may have to go out and buy a copy... whats the 'prop and costume turnarounds' like did he/she say?
  20. It stands to reason that the bonus stuff would be, but in an odd way it just kinda adds to me thinking I could probably simply make do with my DVD copies, with the originals on bonus disc. The only down side to this is that the originals really don't fare well on my 50" plasma screen
  21. Don't know but Rob from RS props may have some of this as they've been busy making helmet kits etc, could be worth asking if they have any spare?
  22. Anyone able to shed any light on the following disc feature 'prop and costume turnarounds' is there anything at all worth while in this bit?
  23. Hay, has anyone gone out of their way to buy this new release yet. Does anyone know if the original versions of the film are in the set, and does the individual OT set come with all the makings of etc as found in the larger set?
