  1. Please help me welcome the newest member of the FISD staff, SW1 as our newest detachment armorer. Many thanks to Steve for raising his hand to help out. Aloha and welcome, -Eric
  2. Rather than cut half of the cover strip off I suggest cutting enough to make the width half of the cover strip size you intend to use. Someone can correct me but I think the front of the thigh and shins are somewhere around 25mm. I'd have to go home and look at my kit (overlap) and see how proportional 25ish mm is on thighs and shins. -Eric
  3. Just noticed this.... good point. I'll put it on the todo list TE2 isn't moving off that list as long as I'm DL. -Eric
  4. I think the minimum skills you need to build a TK is the ability to wield scissors and smear paste. (glitter and macaroni are optional) Aloha, -Eric
  5. No way. I'm digging your E-11 build too much. Request denied (but really... that's just not how we do here). -Eric
  6. At least you've gone further than Rick on this RS... you unboxed it Please... don't wait as long as he has to get going. -Eric
  7. Holy crap those are some of the best application photos I've seen in a long time Should be an easy pass for sure. -Eric
  8. Instant tutorial. Thanks! -Eric
  9. Photos are helpful when you start asking questions... And please so ask as many as you can. That's what we're here for. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Maybe when people enter the getting started area we could play a sound of some Sam Kinison type screamer telling people to stay away from ebay. Standby... our tech support team is working on that as I type this. -Eric
  11. Have patience with the RS guys. You won't be disappointed with their service or product:) Actually... patience is about the only requirement to get yourself into a TK. -Eric
  12. RT + coverstrips = Awesome * Inspirational -Eric
  13. Are you saying my armor makes me look fat? -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. There is nothing in the CRL about the method used to enclose forearms. The only mention of enclosing forearms at all exists at the basic level. Not granting Centurion based on the use of velcro in the forearms is not only the wrong thing to do, but not in the spirit of the award. If the forearm velcro was unsightly, obvious, or sloppy, only then are there grounds for asking a Centurion candidate to redo their forearms. While Vern does wear armor that is too small for him.... and somehow pulls it off... there is no forearm out there big enough for his size. I am in the same size boat.... unless I make cover strips so large that I wouldn't even approve my own centurion application. -Eric
  15. The moment I put my armor on I began full on doofusesque maneuvers. As if something was compelling me to shed my pride and commence attracting attention as soon as possible.... even though I was at home.... alone. During my build I treated my armor like it was made from ABS eggshells but the more I mangled up the plastic the more confident I felt that I could strike many rapid poses in succession. -Eric
  16. There's an upgrade on the server that needs to happen. It's on my short list of things to do this week. I suspect that will fix whatever weirdness you're seeing. -Eric
  17. Ah. Well put Vern. -Eric
  18. Fully enclosed does not mean permanently enclosed. It also cannot be that way given that there would be no way for my hands to make it through my forearms if not for the velcro. The coverstrip would have to be so big it would look even sillier than the thin strip of velcro. I would also look like Popeye and my forearms would be disproportionate to the rest of my build. It is a 501st base requirement for the forearm to be fully enclosed but I think we have a good history of allowing velcro in the forearms if done neatly and not overly obvious. Oh cool. Thanks man. I'm far from a celebrity.... just a dude who owns a stormtrooper costume who posts too often on the internet. Welcome to the white dark side Aloha, -Eric
  19. That's not in the CRL -Eric
  20. Humph. I added the "recent tutorials" sidebar back (It was a hook that needed to be renabled btw) The ANH theme doesn't display "array" for people's names after a search.... but the 2012 does. I'm digging around the skin stuff now but I'm somewhat baffled at the moment. -Eric
  21. Ah. I wonder if we need to manually add the recent tutorials block back on the home page. I'll take a peek when I'm near a computer later today. -Eric
  22. How apropos for an INC! And clever. Someone who was sewing savvy could probably buy a used firehose and make a ton of ROTJ belts to sell. (I do not condone removing the firehose from your place of work) -Eric
  23. Ah yes... Another chance to use my soon famous catchphrase: "RT-MOD, taking over FISD one giant trooper at a time" Looking forward to your build. Aloha, -Eric
