  1. As most of us know the PTT switch that comes with the icomm is fragile. Here are two options that you can buy and one you can make. Both require that you solder a 3.5mm plug onto the switch. Magnetic Switch The first is something I haven't tried yet but I think is the most promising. It is a magnetic switch (or reed switch) I picked up off of ebay. Basically it switches on when it gets near a magnet. So if you glue a rare earth magnet to your blaster or tape one to your finger you can get this little thing near the magnet to activate your PTT. ------------ Tactical Flashlight Switch I ran across this -------. It's basically two metal plates with foam in between them surrounded by heat shrink. It seems pretty bullet proof and I've used it a bit walking around in costume with large success. It seems like it would take quite a bit of abuse and not short out from sweat. ---------- ---------- DIY Tactical Flashlight Switch Or you could build your own flashlight switching thing using these instructions here. Someday I'll post about the 5 (yes 5) headsets I own that all suck terribly. Aloha, -Eric
  2. In my absence this build thread slipped right by me. First there were the RT builds that used cover strips and I was pretty wowed. Now a RT build using (mostly) accurate strapping brackets has captured my attention. I think this may be a FISD first no? Did you ask Rob for more of a return edge on your chest plate? He usually leaves none. Looking good so far trooper. -Eric
  3. Tapatalk has been updated on the server. Please post here or PM me if you have problems with it. -Eric
  4. Someday I'll build my dream PPT button and my icomm will kick an impolite person. Until then I can't handle all the clicking and popping from the VOX. That said, I still really dig my icomm. I have these magnetic switches with no moving parts. I'm thinking about somehow mounting one on a finger and other on my blaster or another finger. More on that someday when I have more time in my life. -Eric
  5. I'm 6'5" with similar sleeve and inseam and I wear the eastbay compression stuff (I think its still available?) It is too short on me but you can't tell. The shins cover my ankles and my gloves/forearms cover my bare wrists. As long as its close fitting the length shouldn't matter. You'll just look like a pee wee herman stage hand and/or mime when you're out of your armor. -Eric
  6. Man oh man does time fly! 2 years? -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I got a PM from him on the NEG boards. So he's alive -Eric
  8. If you've ever met Paul you know why him saying "word" is the funniest thing you've read on the internet this day. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Emailed again. My CO got in touch with him after I posted on the NEG forum. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Email inbound. I found him on the NEG forum. -Eric
  11. Any other clues on where he's from to make stalking easier? -Eric
  12. Strong work. The only thing that stops me from doing this on my RT is how easy it is to pack when the ab and cod are separate. -Eric
  13. About damn time sweetheart. Now make us some new newsletter headers. -Eric
  14. Not RT. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Todd, I think you'll find most of us don't use any means of amplifying the sound into our helmets. I can't always hear very well inside my helmet but I hear well enough to not run into something or crush small children (much/often). If I'm about to get into trouble usually there is a handler, or an annoyingly agile biker scout, nearby to assist. I think more folks have an external amp that projects their own voice. I suggest getting out and trooping before you decide to modify your helmet in ways you may regret down the road. -Eric
  16. What armor do you have? I inherited chicken legs, thats why I try to stay as fit as possible so my upper waist matches my legs lol. I dont think I will need to shim width wise. I'm guessing Supertrooper has ATA armor. -Eric
  17. Mathias: He's quoting the GML. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I'm not sure your Garrison Membership Liaison should have turned you down because your armor is a "recast". I suggest asking him/her where in the Legion rules it says any such thing. I would also ask for an formal and official explanation for why you weren't approved if you haven't done so already. -Eric
  19. Those aren't our EP!C boys and girls... for sure. -Eric
  20. Oh it's about time we got some photos! -Eric
  21. I don't know about CAP/W but RT is a totally different color than ATA. I have an ATA belt and its really noticeable in the brightness of day. Maybe Scootch can comment on the color difference between CAP/W and RT. I bet he owns an RT... because I'm pretty sure he has a suit from just about every maker out there. -Eric
  22. Because you have a serious problem. -Eric
  23. This is one of the better helmets I've seen on a figure: ---------
