  4. Hi Rob. I wouldn't go with an SDS. There are far better helmet's available for less money. Although I don't know how much the one is that you are thinking of getting, but if it's as much as they usualy go for then IMHO it's too much. I can't say how well it would go with RT or AM though. I got an SDS before I found FISD and the the battlespec is a decent enough lid but when compared with other makers you can see the difference. I had to take mine apart and rebuild it. There are some folks that have done upgrades on theirs and they look very nice but I would go for a different make.
  5. http://chromepaint.com/liquid-chrome/ Would this be any good?
  6. There is a chrome spray that you can get but I forget who makes it. I think it could be plasticote? It works just like acrylic spray paint. On the can it says something like '95% as mirrored as chrome'. I'll have a search.
  7. Also on the real Sterlings they had a bare metal part on each side just behind the trigger. You could paint these two parts to be even more SA By bsac15 at 2012-05-10
  8. I personaly would not use sand paper. There is not enough control to do small, light weathering. 220 grit is a pretty harsh paper to use. I always go with the painted weathering using dry brushing. Don't weather the blaster too much. Just a bit of damage hear and there always looks better than an all over job. Take a look at some screen caps of the blasters in the move and copy one of those.
  9. Nice job mate. Looks much better with the weathering in my opinion
  10. About a quarter of the way through my build I had the panic set in of 'what have I gotten myself into. I am in over my head'. Just take your time over every little piece and ask all the questions you need and read lots of build threads. Like others have said, you will be so happy and proud at the finish. Even without trooping much. It's fun to put on armour for your own ammusement. Or maybe that's just me
  11. I'd say so long as the buyer knows exactly what he is getting and is happy with the price then you should have a clear conscience.
  12. Congratulations Karin
  13. Love the weathering. Looks very real. Awesome blaster too. Good luck. Oh, do you have any action shots where you are a bit further away from the camera? For your EI profile pic.
  14. I have TKittel's and love it. It's holding up very well. Also for holsters you might want to PM Vern. 3 posts above
  15. Oh ok mate. Sorry mate. I'll have a look around.
  16. Can you not use aluminium pipe. I think you can get that in 1.5" O/D ?
  17. Not everyone is good enough at painting to paint the helmet. I would rather see hand painted style decals than a bad paint job.
  18. Good luck Peter. We will have you sorted and suited up in no time.
  19. Sorry to hear of your trouble mate. Before you start trying to make the armour fit you it might be worth asking for a refund. You say you provided measurments so surely you have not been given what you was told you would. I was ask for a refund first and if not at least a replacement suit. This sucks.
  20. Great newsletter! Love the clips of the Star Wars trailer.
  21. Sorry mate but I think we will need a better quality one (clearer) as it's for your profile pic on the EI page.
  22. Hi Shawn. Great looking build. Do you have a front facing action shot that you coulp post for us please? Many thanks.
  23. A great start. Just a couple of small things. The teeth look like they could be filed out a little more and the trigger on the blaster should be black and the trigger housing just behind it should be silver. Did you build the blaster youself? It looks stunning
