  2. As Chris ran uncontested for the 2025 election cycle, he will remain as our Detachment leader for another term. Congratulations, Chris, we look forward to seeing what you have planned for the Det in 2025. As always, you have my full support, and that of a great team of staff ready to continue driving FISD on to new heights. Congratulations once again.

  3. Thanks for the tip! I've had a lot of live and learn moments on this build so I wasn't daunted by the redo. Good to know for future work. Before moving on to painting the gloss white, a was looking at all the final things I need to do. I noticed that the edge for the black trim around the neck opening had two places that were going to be difficult fitting the trim smoothly. I had purchased rubber edge trim for the neck opening and fitted it on to see where I needed to make adjustments. I trimmed one side of where the two helmet sides met which made the trim go on smoothly. I then re-primed the surfaces I needed to sand.

  8. Bummer, but live and learn, it's all about the prep work. A good trick I learned panel beating was once you apply a primer of filler go over with a really light mist of black, what happens then is when you are sanding (wet sanding is best so the sandpaper lasts longer) you sand off the black in high areas and in lower areas black remains, great for picking up imperfections as scratches or low spots. Nearly there, keep up the good work

  9. Thanks Mario - Photos are updated. The belt has been stuck with velcro and is touching the bottom of the ab plate. I popped two action pics in there, just in case. Cheers

  10. Hey all: I'm still waiting for armor to arrive, and while I do, I've tried to hone my assembly skills by working on a few different blasters. Between a Rubie's E-11 Conversion, a Disney E-11 conversion, a DoopyDoos/T-Jay build, a poor-man DLT-19 (from the 2008 Clone "Build a Blaster"), and a Disney DL-44 conversion (just for fun), I'm coming to realize that I have several blasters I'm going to want to display. Bookshelf space isn't gonna cut it, so I did some research, trying to figure out a good way to wall-mount all my blasters. But I have several requirements of a wall-mounting solution: - It must not scratch the blaster - It must allow the blaster sufficient space away from the wall to fit - It must not be ugly/overly obvious - It must not be overly expensive - It must be easy for me to take the blaster down or put it back up And while perusing Amazon, I found these: These are guitar hooks, designed to mount a guitar on the wall without damaging it. Each mount has two foam-padded prongs that extend about 5" from the wall and can be rotated into any position. And they hold that position, unless your blaster is excessively heavy. They're not flexible, they just rotate 360 degrees. Because of this, they are very forgiving about positioning for odd-shaped items. You can also squish the two prongs together so that they are like a single large prong. They do come with standard screws and weak drywall anchors, but I decided to go out and get better anchors and black screws, so that the mounting hardware would be less visible. I made sure to get screws that are a little bit longer than the anchor's screws, because of the thickness of the hook mount (1-1/4" was enough): I mounted them 10" apart and leveled them vertically to each other, not caring about the shape of the blaster. Just to see how they would handle it. Surprisingly well! Yes, I know that an E-11 wants to "roll over", but these hooks allow me to compensate for that. I then tried an alternate configuration that I like better. Now the blaster doesn't want to roll at all: Much more stable and attractive, in my opinion. I just ordered a bunch more for the rest of my blaster projects. They come in single packs at $3 each: http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Hanger-Holder-Mount-Display/dp/B005CX4GLE They come in 2-packs at around $5.35 ($2.68/ea): http://www.amazon.com/2-PACK-Display-guitars-Mounting-Hardware/dp/B00LTDOIXW They come in 3-packs for around $6.50 ($2.17/ea): http://www.amazon.com/3-PACK-StageTM-Display-Mounting-Hardware/dp/B00LTDOL02 They come in 4-packs for around $7.65 ($1.91/ea!!!!): http://www.amazon.com/StageTM-Display-guitars-Mounting-Hardware/dp/B00LTDON0K I really recommend these hooks, they allow the blaster to "float" off the wall. The shadow effect can be quite striking: Will repost here when I've finished all my blasters. Enjoy! Bill

  11. I find Do3d are not as accurate as other makers, most go for GA files, although I know this maker also has some mcflyprint3d Really depends on the makers licence for the use of the files, modifying for personal use should be ok but doesn't hurt to ask, the maker may either add your updates or modify the files himself. I'm sure others would be interested in the updated files.

  12. That being said, I do love me some skeet shooting. Hmmm... I wonder if it's ever been done in TK armor... But back on topic, this is why I'll never wear my armor out in public without an official invite. You never know what a stranger may call the authorities for, even without a blaster.

  14. The problem we have is that in Star Wars all the weapons look like real world weapons due to the aesthetic chosen back in the 70s. Whilst that’s changing a bit with other franchises, we’re not carrying phasers. This means you really really need to be aware of who might see this and the conclusions and consequences that may lead to. One thing that’s worth mentioning and probably not overly well known is that in the UK is simply owning an E-11 could potentially be a firearms offence, and so can REALLY land you in hot water if you don’t use some common sense. Due to the appearance it falls under the legislation for a “Replica Imitation Firearm”. Without going too far into it as I am not qualified to do so, the manufacture and possession is illegal without a “reasonable excuse”. This is a nice summary from some one who at least appears to know what they are on about: https://www.askthe.police.uk/faq/?id=587bc863-12db-eb11-bacb-0022483f57c9

  15. It's a cautionary tale of recognizing that, although we know our blasters are not real guns, that may not be clear to the general public. All cosplayers/costumers need to be mindful of this concern.

  17. Hi Joe, thanks for sharing the news clip. Myself and half our Garrison have been tagged all over social media with that, thankfully it was nothing to do with us Nice to hear you're building white armour, do you plan on a build thread? I highly recommend you do so here at FISD. For ANH armour builds https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/ Are you based in Scotland? If so you are welcome to sign up at Imperial Scottish Garrison and share your progress https://www.501st.scot/
