  1. Greetings fellow members I am here before you all today to announce the latest recipient of the Detachments highest accolade, the FISD Achievement Award. This is an award of merit to the detachment, and towards the end of term is a privilege the Detachment leader has of handing out. His nomination was received with a resounding and positive response by all staff, for this member has stepped up from the moment he arrived on our forums through to present day. He certainly has gone over and above what is expected from our members, and that's part of what makes this award truly special. I believe he is if not, the first recipients to receive this award before he has an approved costume and become a fully fledged 501st member, but that is the beauty of FISD, as we award exceptional behavior regardless. Please all join me in congratulating Masked Vengeance (Caleb Mask) very soon to be a TK, but from this point on an FISD Achievement Award winner!

  2. I've been wanting to order Chicago Screws for three weeks now, but instead always end up posting more memes And what it sounds like: "Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?" Inspired by @revlimiter's recent troop log Those three months of ballet as a five year old really paid off, guys Don't worry, it's all possible, even if it takes you eight months

  3. Nobody is asking you to do anything Ardershir, you are already approved, you were approved as per the CRL originally with the correct match to that CRL. It is up to members what they do with their armour after they meet approval. No one forces anyone to even look after their costumes and keep then looking in mint condition. This was your choice alone to change the end cap colours. There is no additional approval as you are already approved in this costume and don't gain an additional award, because you already have it. You or I cant change what anyone does to their costume post basic or any other level. Yes members change things all the time after approvals, that is legion wide, and we don't police that as we don't own the costume.

  4. This is brilliant and terrifying at the same time, Chemi! Turning my own name against me! Credit to @paradoxb3 for the idea for this next one below, while we were taking my official submission photos yesterday. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER: And let me just say that the DOs are some of my favorite people in this community! You all are amazing!

  5. Looks good, as long as we see some form of consistency. The wording will need to be very straight forward and if say two items are going to be accepted then that must also be reflected clearly. To support any of this we are going to need photos of all options, which also means if we don't have that, then it doesn't make a CRL until such a time as we do because we can't give a clear and built version. This will make the F11D an much larger area on a CRL and i know its will confuse people if we don't have examples. We don't use screen caps on CRL's so someone is going to need to build all these separate pieces and paint them in the correct colours

  6. Just a couple of things to add. 1. I have a solution for variants that doesn't create a blown out confusing element to a CRL. 2.Some of the elements are obvious and for good reason and standards, like a member cannot mix and match the variations as they see fit. The weapon must have all the variations that particular blaster has when seen on screen, not just one. If it is not seen on screen it is not permissible (standard CRL practice) to be fair to the majority. It must be in the movie you are building the costume from and seen carried Seen on screen). Like everything that requires references you need to know how it looks overall, no wild guessing. It would be up to the applicant to show the references in an application. Blasters built for another movie would not be suitable example TFA vs TLJ, Tros may be the same armour but it would be nice to see the effort that the blaster is seen in that film rather than a lazy approach. Centurion it is our highest level and standards should be upheld and separation from films should also remain a part of that. I will look to work on the wording for the CRL to very clearly explain this so there is no gray areas and it is easy to understand. Like all CRL amendments, there will be members Polls, we wont be making rapid changes and the majority responses from those polls will be the guide to the decisions made at the end of the day As always we work on a democratic approach, this is not nor ever has been a one person decision. Quick take aways Standards should be upheld. Wider offering on a blaster Must be seen on screen No mix and match must meet reference with the same variations, as an example if the screen reference has different coloured D ring and also shows a different sight, blaster must have both.

  10. What the heck have I done, lol....six things going on at once...no longer have a dining table...but loving it. Trimmed the chest and back, glued the two halves of the detonator, worked on the forearms. The back plates where the cover plate attaches were too high for the plate to fit over so cut about 1/2" out of the middle to make them shorter. Saw the same issue in other 504 AW threads. Also fitted the abdomen, kidneys, and spacer plates. There wasn't enough room for tightening it all so I cut the kidney plates down by 5/8". (Picture is before cutting them down) Learning that this is a slow and steady process.

  11. Hi James, I don't see any problem If you can fill the notches. CORRECTED Thank you @TheSwede As the CRL states: Abdominal and Kidney Plate align horizontally at top Cut-out notches at the bottom of right and left sides of the Kidney Armor are optional. If present, each notch is approximately 22 mm tall and the back of the notch ideally is aligned with the front edges of the Posterior Armor plate.. If difficult to check if the Ab and kidney are aligned at top and how that section looks on you once you put it on. As noted by Daniel, the Notch must be aligned with the end of the Ab plate and not the ridge (my eyes are lying me I'm sorry . Looking at you old prior photos , if the notches you have are aprox 22 mm tall , they looks ok for Centurion. Once again, the AB and Kidney armor must be aligned at top. It would be great if you can post a photo suited up from the sides. AS THIS STAND OF YOUR ARMOR , YOU SHOULD FILL THE NOTCHES FOR CENTURION LEVEL. YOUR PHOTPSHOPPED IMAGES ARE OK. I apologize again.

  14. I would check with your GML (garrison membership liaison) they look after base legion level approval, FISD only deal with L2 and L3 applications. For me they are a tad thick in some places. Could also cleanup/straighten lines around the ears. In saying that as a GML I would pass as is.

  17. Although I may have validated what was seen in TROS the question would still be what was consistently seen in TLJ and TROS, in many of the multiple trooper or main trooper images the most common blaster is the TLJ version, produced specifically for TLJ and carried over to TROS. I can agree not an issue for basic approval but for higher levels these items should be added. Now I haven't been through how often a version is seen as I've already spent way too much time on this. With that I would like to see the following TLJ specific items discussed/polled and added to the CRL at a time convenient to all of course, perhaps after incoming elections. Thanks to Chris for collating the list, added a couple of things also. D ring mount painted white (already added) Rectangular D ring white (already added) No cocking lever (L3) Cocking lever channel has swapped sides, now on right (same side as Hengstler) (L3) End cap full cut out on top front edge, not just a recess. (L3) Additional holes on top of front barrel at front and rear ~11mm diameter (L2) Picatinny rail and mount bracket on front barrel right side approx. half way down. (already added L3) "Dipped" ring into rear barrel just behind Hengstler removed. (L2) End cap clip squared off at end cap end. (L3) Edit: front sight is painted black not silver Rear sight rounded not angled I'll review the list again tomorrow to seeing if I've missed anything

  18. Just to sum up the main differences of F-11's per my research in this thread, as it's easy to pick what is what just by one or two details which are specific to each version. So there are 4 main versions of F-11's, we know the TLJ blaster had some significant upgrades from the TFA but there was also a TROS Promo version, it's a TFA with a TLJ picatinny rail added, although further forward than the standard TLJ but also there is a TFA with no picatinny rail. Differences between the TROS and TROS Promo/Stunt can be found here 1: TFA production image - 2 versions below, with D ring and without 2: TLJ Production image - 2 extra holes top of barrel, cocking slot opposite side, different end cap, different end cap release, different rear sight now rounded not angular like TFA and added picatinny rail TLJ pre filming - mainly new TLJ but a few TFA note you can tell this by the black D rings and silver mounts 3: TROS Promo - STD TFA with a picatinny rail added but further forward than TLJ 4: TROS - STD TFA with no picatinny rail (also seen with NO D ring version) F-11's seen in TROS STD TLJ - TROS with these 3 troopers (with all the TLJ bells and whistles) STD TFA - Speaking FOTK's No picatinny rails STD TFA - Guarding Chewie STD TFA no D ring STD TFA with TLJ update - TROS promo standees (picatinny rail further forward) STD TFA with TLJ update - TROS picatinny rail What I believe Ardeshir is aiming for in his TLJ EIB second version application would be what I call the "TROS Promo" version (STD TFA with a TLJ upgrade) like the TROS promo image. Previously posed in his TLJ EIB app Recently updated with picatinny rail now further forward FYI Ardeshir was approved with a TLJ CRL version (STD TFA with picatinny rail) from his first TLJ Centurion Application Then changed it to silver mount black D ring and moved the picatinny rail

  20. We do strive for movei accurate but not prop replication, that has never been the goal of the Legion or many detachments. MEPD are the onlu ones I know of that have a level that isolates a particular trooper and you have to built it exact to that . We have always had a standardised model to get as many looking and representing the same features as possible. this isn't something new and still holds well legion wide. We don't have a prop replication level. I even tried to bring up the subject of an additional level for FISD that did go that far but it was met with a resounding silence and no support. It was pretty clear it wasn't something wanted. I think we should still focus on the most commonly seen elements for weapons, if that means some features are well represented and that creates a variation then that should be a discussion point for consideration. What doesn't seem right is a variation seen only once on screen as an example, and I think it is probably more confusing trying to build CRL's with every variation possible seen on screen, that doesn't serve anyone well. How about we tally up the number of times you see each variation on screen for TLJ and separately for TroS, it seems both films have different clear set ups. The variations that are seen most would be the ones that go into Polls to give us a better idea what path to take. If that shows 2 main variants above the one timers then that makes sense that they would be commonly seen. Perhaps we take stunt weapons out of the equation because we know they use different materials and are meant generally for safety so can omit certain features are cant use some materials. The Hero weapons are what we should aim for. Lets see what kind of outcomes surface from that kind of deep dive.

  22. Thanks for calling me out, using the word "competition" might have been the wrong choice due to the different connotations in German and English. Um... "encouraging each other to post more memes based on friendly ribbing and markers regarding the current post/meme count"? I don't know how to word this Again, no policing from my side, just wanted to mention that I prefer to see FISD-relevant memes in this thread over generic Star Wars memes. Thanks for your input, I'd love to hear what others think as well (in this thread, perhaps accompanied by at least one meme? ). No burning anyone, otherwise we'd loose all interactions on here, lol It's just that Star Wars memes in general have a lot of spaces online (especially on Reddit), so I like having a FISD Meme Space just for us TKs

  24. NOTED No competition here, just a bit of harmless fun, didn't think some general "Star Wars" memes would be an issue, it was getting a little stale and posting had slowed, this past week had a lot more interaction from members which was a positive from all the meme posting.

  25. Can't believe I'm going to be serious for once Hey guys, here's a quick reminder that this was intended by me to be an FISD Meme Thread. Now, I certainly enjoy all the general Star Wars Memes that I've seen in this thread recently, don't get me wrong, but in my mind they're a better fit for general meme threads. r/prequelmemes instead of FISD Memes. Now, I'm not a dictator, I'm not gonna say which memes are okay for this thread and even if I had the power to edit posts, I wouldn't go ahead and delete the ones I don't like. So, instead, here's what I imagined this thread to be for: I thought we would post memes about the FISD, recent happenings on here, our members, relationships and interactions with each other. Memes about trooping and building a TK. Advice, critique, encouragement for each other and our armors. Memes for and about our Detachment and Stormtroopers, which is certainly what we all expected from this thread. Especially with the recent drive and competition to post the most memes in this thread, I can't help but feel that the original purpose has been derailed. Please, please, do not take this as me saying I don't like the new memes. Don't take this as me being a boring stick in the mud, trying to enforce my own rules in this thread. I wanted to share my opinion on this, as I think that we can stick closer to the FISD Memes. Thank you

  26. Yes, that's me on the right and my armor on the left. And it was definitely a very good decision to swap costumes for a while. It's not a troop, if I don't steal another trooper's headwear for at least a few minutes Is this a realistic goal? I don't know. Am I having fun anyways? Yes. Is this secretly just an attempt to show off my troop pictures? Maybe...

Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Welcome everyone to the final FISD Newsletter for the 2022-23 term! I would like to kick this off with a HUGE THANKYOU to all our members for participating in some way shape or form and contributing to this wonderful Detachment. Lets celebrate the year that was 2022: We saw a raft of new members come into the forums, plenty of build threads and finally our First Order ranks are again growing due to an up-step in supply of armour which is truly awesome. As always, we also had plenty of new members join and follow their life long dreams of becoming original trilogy TK's The forums remained a calm and happy place for all with quite a few newer members going over and above in true troopers helping troopers form which we absolutely love to see. Morgi TK 66744 kicked his FISD Memes thread into overdrive, and there is some seriously good memes there, so thank you to all those who joined suit and contribute to that thread, it brings a smile to my face. If you haven't seen it you can find it HERE Nairy TK 23592, not a moment after he was approved, jumped into action providing assistance where he could to his fellow members. Nairy set up a thread offering to create signature banners for anyone who wanted one. I haven't asked him yet, but mine could probably do with an update Nairy style!! MaskedVengance not 501st approved yet, but I gotta say, Caleb has been one of the busiest yet to be approved members we have seen for a while. He continued his supportive trend from last year and has been ever present on our forums helping where he can. A while back he created a fantastic all in one resource called ANH Stunt resource Compilation. basically a conglomerate of many threads and resources all linked under a single post, and it has proven it's worth on countless occasions. These are only a few examples of the exceptional level members go to as part of this community, and the Detachment is truly thankful for your input. We had another year of amazing merch and sensational designs, again showcasing the talent we are so privileged to have in our membership. Our last run, the FISD sweats and hoodies proved to be very popular, as was our Anniversary shirts and Celebration Anaheim patch. Don't forget the interest thread will be closing very shortly for the Celebration London patch, so jump on board. We finally put the icing on the TLJ/TroS CRL, 2 years of conversations with plenty of, "should we, shouldn't we" on some aspects was well worth the time spent bringing it up to a standard that reflects better accuracy to truly have members look like they just stepped off the movie set. There were other minor CRL tweaks as well, but next year will bring a Legion wide CRL upgrade to a newer platform. This will indeed be a large undertaking increasing the work load for LMO's and DL's alike. 2022 was also a year for the return of little things, like trooping and seeing fantastic photos appearing on our Facebook platform and across the forums. Lots of happy TK's out there doing what we do best, making smiles and raising money for charity. For many it is their happy place. So whether you spent a little or a lot of time on one of our platforms, thank you for making 2022 as good as it could be for FISD and our entire community. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK-11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader Greetings Fellow Troopers! Please help me congratulate Omar (TK-56072) @RoninTK72 for his winning design for our Celebration 2023 Europe patch contest! I have an interest thread running here, so please click the link, check out the winning design and give us an idea how many you might like. I would like to get the run thread up and running ASAP! The staff is working hard with me to finalize a few other merch items that we'd like to try and get out before the term end, or have ready for the beginning of the next term. I'd like to take a minute to thank @Sly11 for allowing me to be your DMBO this term. I want to thank everyone that assisted me with getting the work done, and I hope that the items we did get done where exciting and wanted. I have some other ideas for next term if I am lucky enough to be invited back to the staff in this position for 2023. I hope everyone had (or is still having) a wonderful Holiday Season! With Unquestioned Loyalty James Silvius TK-12953 "jsilvius" Merchandise & Branding Officer With elections starting at the beginning of February it's time to check your detachment affiliation. OK so you look at your Legion profile and it shows that your detachment affiliation to FISD is pending, or otherwise incorrect. Why does this happen, and what is detachment affiliation anyway, and what will FISD do about it? The answer is that detachment affiliation is only ever used once a year, and for one purpose. The only time the Legion ever uses it for anything is to determine who can run for DL and who can vote in detachment elections. That's it. Otherwise it is pretty much ignored and not used for anything. The process of validating detachment membership is cumbersome and time consuming because people use different email information between their Legion and detachment logins, and that there is no way to bulk update the rosters. For a small detachment it is not a big deal to do this manually, but for a detachment the size of FISD with hundreds and soon thousands of 501st members, it's impossible. Fortunately we have technical folk both on FISD and in the Legion web team. Once a year they take a feed from FISD's database and do a bulk update on the Legion database. This occurs right before the election cycle starts and is done once per year. Pro tips: 1) Ensure the email address you use on the Legion & FISD boards are the exact same. 2) Ensure that your FISD profile has the correct TKID. 3) IMPORTANT! You MUST be in the right security group. It should be "501st Stormtrooper" in order for the automated system to pull you over. This thread is where you get your detachment access updated. 4) If after the bulk update is complete and your profile is still not updated, and you are 100% sure your info is in sync between the two boards, then ask for to the Legion web team. They should get feedback on why this isn't working. 5) If all else fails, ping the FISD staff. Which basically means that we'll simply tell the 501st web team to bulk approve everyone 6) If still you have no luck you can contact the legion web team directly via email: [email protected] To check detachment affiliation go to the 501st holocron here, login using your 501st forum username and password, click on YOUR PROFILE DATA, then look down the lower part of the page for YOUR UNIT AFFILIATION, then under DETACHMENT AFFILIATION. If you do not see FISD listed reach out to your GML (garrison membership liaison) as they can add it if you are an approved Stormtrooper. If FISD shows as PENDING contact our DL @Sly11 and request a manual update. 2023 Legion Election Timeline It's coming up to that time of the year again, legion elections are just around the corner. These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) ASK THE D.O.s For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Newsletter Editor Well this could be my last newsletter as this term is coming to a close, legion elections are looming and nominations start 30th January - end 3rd February so depending on the outcome there may be a change in editor. It's been a great ride, thank you who have reached out with praise, most of what is included in the newsletter is from you the members, without you there wouldn't be one. For anyone interested in having a look through any of the older newsletter they have now been moved to a new archive sub forum which you can find here. With Unquestioned Loyalty Glen "Q" Rhodes TK-85421 "gmrhodes13" PRO, Newsletter Social Media Greetings fellow troopers, As we close out this term, I just want to thank all of our active members for their participation in these forums and for engaging with our various social media platforms throughout the year. Anywhere we can come together as a TK family, whether it be to post build progress photos, share troop logs, or ask and answer questions, has had incredible value to me and I hope to this Detachment as well. It has been a year of great triumphs, and of challenges (if I have to delete one more bogus scam merch post, so help me...), but I hope we continue to come together in the spirit of "Troopers Helping Troopers". Thank you all and have a wonderful new year ahead! 28. Thank you to all who contributed to this wonderful newsletter and forum I'd like to take this opportunity to give everyone involved a huge shout-out! For me the extra activity comes from a lack of troops right now, but for whatever reason you all joined in, I appreciate every meme and member that joins the thread
