Looking fantastic, Joe, and that is one awesome paint job on your bucket! With the amount of details you are nailing on this build, I honestly hope to see you apply for Expert Infantry level (and then Centurion) after you get your Basic approval. If that is indeed your eventual goal (hint hint) you might want to trim out the "hump" area at the wrist opening on the forearms a bit more with a file (should take you all of 5 minutes). This is not only screen accurate, it is a requirement for Level 3. Keep up the great work, keep posting those photos and always ask for advice if you have any doubts before cutting or gluing. Trust me on that one..3 points

fitting, taping, assembling, and cover stripping the biceps and forearms... ...still have some finishing touches left, but just about ready to strap these together with the shoulder bells3 points

Welcome aboard Chris! I have a MTK kit that I built to ESB / Expert Infantry level. So it's really not a matter of can the MTK meet 501st requirements but more what your goals are. For basic, it should be straight forward. For higher levels just visit the respective pages to see what you need to do the get there. I recommend shoot higher, it isn't that much more effort and since you will be representing both the 501st and FISD as well as yourself - go for it! Here is my build thread from many moons ago but much of it still applies. TK24336 ESB Build https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/26919-my-first-esb-tk-build-mtk2 points

Thank you. This is exactly what I was referring to. I think I am leaning more towards an ESB build since the gloves seem better and I like the black frown better.2 points

I am not sure where to post this, but I am starting a Captain Cardinal Build, since the Black Series figure is coming out in September. Since the current pictures do not show his boots or blaster, the new figure will make it possible to complete the build and hopefully get a CRL approved. At this time, i have a KB Props TFA almost complete (personal kit). I am going to modify it and use an Anovos TFA Helmet. I have on that has some finish issues, so it will be a prime candidate for repainting. I will only be able to take this so far, until i get my hands on a figure, but there are things I can start on and post some of the reference photos and book excerpts that contribute to the details of the armor.1 point

Thank you very much, @justjoseph63!! Expert Infantry, hopefully followed by Centurion level later on, is definitely the goal..! I very much appreciate the feedback and I’ll be sure to hit those wrists as well as the other pieces with some finishing cleanup!!1 point

Hello Troopers. I'm sure something like this has been done before, but I wanted to give it a shot and attempt it myself. I wanted to share with you my custom built PVC tube Stormtrooper armor stand, or mannequin. I built it in one day, and it cost about $100 from the hardware store. (Depending on if you have supplies and tools already). Here is the finished product: Here is what parts you start out with: Here are the tools you need: And here are the in process pics. No real explanation needed, it's pretty simple. Cut the longer tubes to fit your armor size, and some joints you glue, others you leave loose to move. (And REmove). Who let that battle droid in here!?! I hope you enjoyed this build! TK-36921 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

If you use the correct tape you shouldn't have too much bleeding. Worst case scenario you may need to clean up some edge points with a tooth pick.1 point

100% correct, and fantastic advice brother. Not sure why that line: AM v1 chest plate must be replaced with a more screen accurate version. is still in the CRLs for all OT Centurion requirements, and to be honest and it should be removed. Yes, AM had some issues with those pieces a long time ago, but they updated their molds about 6 years ago and both chest and back are approvable at all levels as you mentioned. Side note- I'm working on an ESB build right now using AM.1 point

I've added some Worbla Kobracast to stabilize thin sections. Be aware, that this stuff must be heated before applying.1 point

Hello and welcome to the FISD! This will be an exciting time for you. Building a set of armor is an amazing time. Like Dan said you should reach out to the Japanese Garrison. Someone there may also be able to give you some hands on assistance. Also, please check out our Getting Started threads. Have fun!1 point

Glad to hear you are back into this build Shawn. The LMO's will be visiting our forums in the near future to chime in on a few CRL threads so i hope they can take a look at your progress here as well.1 point

I managed with a coat hanger, taking the plastic cover off and had a nice grease metal look under it. Found a broom handle with reasonable diameter. Most important to make careful even spaced wraps around the broom. You don’t want to try and adjust them by hand afterward, never evens out right. After I cut to the right length and it is static but jiggles around making a reasonable sound I like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Our detachment leader posted this a few days ago on the Captain Cardinal Black Series Figure thread here https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/49693-captain-cardinal-black-series/ "I have spoken with the LMO's (legion membership liaison's) and they are ok with this to go ahead. There are a few things they would like to see in your thread with regards to research. 1. TFA helmet is what the LMO's are leaning towards as this is a TFA era character that was gone before TLJ (yeah I know Hasbro used the TLJ helmet, but it's a conversation you and I can have) 2. They would like to see research from cross-referencing as cardinal has a description in the book and now the action figure that should take care of any parts that are different from the standard Storm troopers."1 point
