  1. Left Shin front cover strip completed, put a couple drops super glue towards the bottom where it didn't get enough coverage from the E6000. Right Shin cover strip now applied. Looks like Tomorrow we'll start on the first Thigh frontal cover strip. All the leg armor remains to be fitted yet. The Arm parts are fitted.

  3. Okay, the paint work is not yet completed, but at least I made some progress. Started with the Blast Shield and unlike the Mimban Trooper, I wanted it to have a different color. Had a weird idea for this... I was pretty happy with the result but now had to make a plan for the rest of the helmet. So I closely inspected the 501st registered costumes above. A classic white base seemed best but raised the question for a contrasting color. Blue and red are allocated to the Commander and the Incinerator. Would a dark orange work? Or would that look like a Stormtrooper version of Clone Commander Cody? Next I thought of green, which immediately brought up the idea for camouflage. Although not being very common in the Star Wars Universe, there are some examples for it: Kashyyyk Trooper, ARF Trooper, ARF Trooper Waxer, ARF Trooper Boil or the 41st Scout Battalion The idea behind this helmet is to turn the look a bit more towards a special soldier, equipped with many infrequent extras for his secret missions. A camouflage paint job would surely fit to that, so I researched the different types and considered, what I was able to do with the options I had. Okay, that test piece simply looked poor. Sorry, no camouflage here. Sticking to the special soldier theme, I then considered to go with NATO green only. The planned additions for this helmet will add a bit more colors later anyway. But I really liked how a different color on the mouth piece (see Incinerator Trooper and Sky Trooper) cause the impression of this being a separate and removable part. So I masked this area before spraying. The helmet appears a bit dark on the last photos because of the lighting. Thank you for reading.

  4. Hello there Thought it was about time to start another 'with some modifications' - thread. As most people here, I simply love our Classic Stormtroopers: Since starting my research back in 2012, I also came across some very interesting variants from video games, comics and so on: (photos taken from the 501st CRLs) While each alteration and/or addition helped giving the armor a special appearance, the idea of being unbound and free of any CRL always appealed to me. With this MOC - helmet I will try to combine multiple modifications into a single helmet. Recently I got a suitable kit for this project and collected a few add-ons, so let's see what this turns into... Like with every other kit, my first step was a rough cut, before washing and drying it. Was not sure at all, if I could ever add such a big and symmetrical 3D-printed item (made from sturdy PETG) onto a wonky classic helmet. However, the top ends of the ears perfectly meet the Blast Shield with little gaps that I will later take care of. List of modifications so far: 1 - Blast Shield 2 - Black Interior Thank you for reading and stay tuned for the next updates.

  5. Well I went out there. Attempted to slide it just a bit. Nothing doing. It's began to set and wasn't budging. Gave me a chance to trim up the top of it anyways. Applied some glue at the very top for the trimmed edge. Only other thing to do would be to take advantage of it being E6000, pull it, pick all the glue off and reapply, but honestly I'm not sure it's worth it.

  7. Optical illusion then. It sure does look fatter than a 20mm. I have to admit, after I observed how off it looked, I did look inside to see if my join was even on both top and bottom. I'm sitting right directly in the middle of it equally. I think I see what it is, CS was probably in fact slid over a bit further and he was catching towards the edge of the join. Your probably right.

  9. Thank you so much!! It’s been a long road but worth it!! I would just like to thank Glenn and Mario for their never ending patients helping me at every step. At times it was frustrating and I got a little grumpy, I’m sure when they saw that I would send them messages they hated to click open, but they never were offended or discouraging. They answered me timely in their responses even though they are hours difference from me which helped me keep moving and not stall out. They both just kept pushing me forward to make my armor look as good as I could. I want to extend my deepest gratitude for all the time and patients you guys gave me with your suggestions and help. Thank you again so much Glenn, and Mario.

  12. Generally what this means is you have one leg stronger than the other. This can be caused by an injury sustained at some time and various muscle groups compensate for others. i was a cyclist, road and Criterium racer for years and have seen plenty with thighs or calf muscle at different sizes. Your leaner leg may well be the one doing the extra work so it has less fat and stronger fibers than the other. Generally isolated weights will expose the difference in strength which in turn will give you a program of specific exercises to do to bring balance to the left and right legs. Eventually the size difference will decrease but everyone does tend to favor either their left or right for work load.

  14. SURPRISE! Here's the release of my Phase 3 Helmet! Can't wait to see some of these floating around Just as a reminder, I don't mind if people sell prints/casts, but don't try and resell the file, or claim it as your own Please credit me and Nico Henderson (Titanantinium on these forums and the one who modeled the helmet). Have fun guys! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e3BNRxJONNfYAZ9noHg29s-YyKDZiIF9/view?usp=sharing

  15. Wow, I got one of the warmest letters I've ever received and it was from Rob of RS. A very kind letter and Props to this Man, his crew and family. RS Propmasters are outstanding. A quick snippet: 'When all the props are built it’s the friendships made that will remain.'

  18. They sculpted the armor for someone about 5'10" and like 150lbs or something because that was a common size for the British folk who did the part. I don't think Lucas had any input in to that. You can read about it in Brian Muir's excellent book, as well as The Making of Star Wars by Rinzler.

  19. As Q mentioned, occasionally you may find a pre-built kit here but not too often. Plus, as troopers come in all shapes and sizes you would more than likely have to do a lot of work to make it fit your build correctly. Building your own kit allows you to tailor it to your particular size/height, and although it takes time, effort and research you are in the right place! One of the things we do best is to help future troopers with all aspects of putting together a fantastic set of shiny white armor. As I said, there is a lot of research involved, but we are here to answer any questions you may have. The Getting Started link that Q provided is the perfect stepping off point, and best of luck to you, future trooper!
