  1. Hi folks, Took some natural light photos so thought I’d share. Just a little weathering to go, then this lid is complete. Armour build to follow. :-) [emoji4][emoji4][emoji4]

  3. Thanks. All good now. It's never been a problem before in my 5 YEARS since FOTK approval... And while I don't post much I regularly log in and check things out, so it's not that either. So yes, sounds like it is something odd on the backend. Please let me know what you find out or if you need anything from me. Thanks, Ruark Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk

  4. You may want to check your detachment affiliation as it appears you only have 501st access not 501st Stormtrooper access. You must sign in to the forum at least once during the prior year to retain detachment access. You can check you have detachment affiliation here https://www.501st.com/memberDB/ go to "your profile data" and check at the bottom of the page. If it shows as "pending" you could contact our DL Sarah @Alay to ask for a manual change BUT it may not be allowable as we are in voting cycle of the election process. If FISD is not there you will have to contact your GML (garrison membership liaison) to add the detachment. You could also contact the web team: [email protected] If you detachment affiliation is shown as "approved" you will be updated once your post above is seen by A.C.

  7. Thanks @CableGuyDan, That's great info, and no special plans I started with the method you mentioned, but noted a thread with the straps inside so switched over. I did think it was a little odd! http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg556/bigironvault/DSC02643.jpg I've quickly reverted back to the outside from your comments Cheers for pointing it out though. (I'll singe the ends to stop any fraying shortly)

  8. Thanks @Cricket for the tutorials, making progress on the shin closure and it's having great results so far. I may use a heat gun at a later stage to get the last of the gaps closed, but for now, I want to get the build generally complete. The buttons aren't stuck but offered up they're closing very well. (Two of the magnets broke from from the E6000, I've re-scored the middle of the buttons for more grip. Hope it works?!) Top of the cover strip needs re-application of E6000, but it's looking good for just magnets so far. Heat gun in the near future to close the gap. Obtained some 5mm chicago screws and working on the drop boxes. 116mm drop when closed and 25mm from the the top to the screw. Closure system to be researched and added. Again, thinking magnets, but a little more searching on here before I go for it.

  12. Great job. Really enjoyed wathching this build. The glossy shine is impressive in natural light and your hand painted tube stripes look awesome.[emoji1303] I tried free hand painting my tube stripes a few times but could never get them looking that good. I ended up buying templates from Ross @RWA (cheers Ross) which I couldn't be happier with the way they turned out.[emoji1303] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  13. Holy cow! You’ve come a long way. I don’t check back for a couple weeks and you’re almost done. Everything looks amazing. You’re doing a great job of following everyone’s advice, and taking it nice and slow. Many people don’t do that. Keep up the good work. Ive started on V2 of my interior helmet costume bits. Hopefully will be done soon.

  21. Hi Kyle and welcome aboard future Trooper! Have a read in the “Getting Started-Read this First” section, as there is some really good info in there for new members. Then, have a read in “Costuming and Builds” section to discover other troopers who are building (or have built) the same armor as you! Really good tips, examples, pictures, previously answered questions, and successes here. In addition to looking at all the various build threads, I highly recommend checking out the “Advanced Tactics” section where you can see examples of those who have taken their armor to the next levels of screen accuracy (EIB and Centurion). I’d recommend that you aim to build to one of the certification levels, as TK’s look their best at these levels. It's really not hard to acquire EIB or Centurion, and it’s best to do during your build rather that after. If, and when, you’re looking for other bits –and-pieces, accessories, boots, blasters, electronics, etc., be sure to check out the “Imperial Commissary/PX” section for items for sale, project runs, and for other stuff that most of the troopers use. So, start a build thread here on FISD; post lots of pictures and questions. We are all here to help you out and to make sure you look your best, and represent the 501st as best as possible. All the best on your TK journey!
