We have our yearly convention coming up at the end of June and I'm always looking to build something new for the public to see and as many of us down under won't get the opportunity to get to see Galaxy's Edge I thought it could be nice to replicate a few thigs we've seen so far. 709th legion banner and also the new Star Wars style aurebesh Coke and bottles. Reference Now this was a bit of work, of course I couldn't find any fonts that exactly matched so I had to photoshop a few different versions together. FO Emblem and helmet weren't an issue as they are standard and I was able to find them on a google search, shame I couldn't find larger versions though as they are just a little soft/pixely on the edges. I prefer using the pull-up banner stands rather than flags as they are self standing and don't require any fixings but I'm thinking I may still do a flag in case there is hanging room. Have a fellow member who works at an Officeworks store who can get printing down at discount which saved some $'s and here it is. Coke reference So the first thing was to replicate the font, again it was a matter of photoshopping a few different fonts as well as using the iconic Coke font. Had to print a couple of pages to get the right size, roughly measuring from computer screen. I was pretty happy how they turned out, not exact but pretty close. Next was to find orbs, half an hour walk around the shops and found some plastic orb solar garden lights roughly the right size, $4 each. Indecently we've never had the Coke round bottles here but did notice while searching they've been a thing at some Christmas's in the US. Next was the tops, no way I could have found these locally so it was time to put the new 3D printer and software to work. Enlarged the images with the girl holding the bottle on screen and roughly sized and designed from there, next printed just under 2 hours each, not exact but I'm pretty happy with them. Painted the orb's with a base silver, once dry added strips of black decal sheet to emulate the dark lines (I gather these are clear and can see the Coke inside). Next cut out the printed wording, added clear tape on top, gave them multiple cuts on the ends to help them bend and applied. Lastly the paint, I used acrylic water based paint, found them really easy to use when weathering my Sandy so used the same principals with them. Once rubbed back and weathered I sealed them with a clear coat so the weathering won't rub off. That done I tried find a box similar, no way I was going to find the exact box and I really didn't want it that big. Happy with a similar box I gave it a light sand and applied a few coats of red enamel, once dry in was on to weathering. While drying I made a couple of bent strips of aluminium, when you take of the lid you can turn it around and with the aluminium strips you can stand the lid up showing the logo. That I made once again merging fonts, printed out on paper, the cut out, traced around those on white decal sheet and then cut out and applied, was a bit of work but nice way to spend a rainy day inside. Also made a base plate for inside the box so I don't have to completely fill the box, covered the plate in chrome finish decal sheet which should help reflect the fake ice I'm waiting to arrive. I've also got some blue EI wire which I may use underneath the fake ice but will have to see how much it shows through before final fitting it. All in all I'm pretty happy the way it all turned out, I wish I'd taken more photos but I was just head down an too busy building. Will update once the fake ice arrives. Got a few more things I am thinking of putting togther but we'll see how the design stages work out, works in my head2 points

And now, the trigger, trigger guard and selector switch are locked in. Used some nice two-part epoxy that's reinforced with aluminium, and modelled in some remaining details with green stuff. Decided to make everything static in the end - ultimately this is more about being a robust trooping blaster for me than having the functionality (if I wanted that, I think I might have done a Hasbro conversion.) And installed the pegs for ultimately attaching to the receiver... That's the grip kinda sorted (although if I find a dome nut, I'll swap that in beside the selector switch) Time to ponder which component to tackle next over the weekend.2 points

Alright... I decided I would start making a bit of progress by labeling all of the pieces. This will help me make sure that I have everything and can also identify it all. Have to say it's already a bit overwhelming! Here's what I've got: Most of the stuff... After diving back into the packing peanuts, a few more.... Greeblie/decals/rivets List of what I think I've got: - Chest - Abdomen - Kidney/butt plate - Back - Shoulder straps - Shoulders - Biceps - Forearms - Hand guards - Thighs - Shins - Knee - Some diamond? Associated with knee? - Helmet (dome, face) - Ears (2 pairs) - Ammo pack - Ab accessories - Drop box x 4 - Belt - TD (tube, cover, end caps) - Lens material - Split rivets - Blue decals - Helmet greeblies - Extra ABS for cover strips Anything missing? I think it's everything I was expecting... A few questions right out the gate. I was lost trying to pair up... almost anything. Shins, forearms, biceps, thighs... will it become more apparent how they match up once I trim off some excess? I saw that for WTF there's a right and left shin, read through the thread with the debate, and was still lost! I know for biceps there's a left/right based on the dimple. Any other pieces have left/right distinctions? Lots of trimming in my future!2 points

Well the fake ice arrived and was tiny and covered about 1/8th of the base so after trying a few different things I've made some out of clear cellophane, will do for now, still looking at adding some lights under the ice too. Still waiting for some door switches to arrive from China, they must be coming by slow boat, been 8 weeks already. Door switches? well someone is going to get a surprise if they try to pick a drink up2 points

Perhaps a shorter period than waiting for their orders2 points

This list is for Original Trilogy (OT) builds. ANH, ESB and ROTJ) For those who are about to embark on a TK build, in addition to the kit itself and the supplies you will need** to do that we are often asked about other items to complete the ensemble and get approved. These are known as "soft parts", and include the holster, under suit, boots, gloves, neck seal and canvas belt. Be aware that some armorers may include one or more of these items with their kit, but some do not. Also be aware that just because the seller includes them it does not always mean that they are the correct type/style and are eligible for approval (especially at higher levels). When in doubt, always ask your armorer which items are part of the package or feel free to ask here if you have doubts/questions. We are here to help! If there is a particular soft part you need, below is a list of "tried and true" vendors who have an excellent reputation, as well as suggestions for where to get other pieces or even make your own! NOTE: If you are a vendor and would like to add your sales thread here or you have a tutorial on how to make your own please PM me before posting here. **https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31404-supply-list-for-your-tk-build/page/11/ White Canvas Belt: NOTE: not all belts are created equal! The belts used in the films were firm and sturdy with no creasing or sagging. Vendor- Rob Kittel https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19803-fs-white-canvas-belts/ Soulart https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40849-geeky-pinks-phantastic-gaskets-and-so-much-more/ Trooperbay- https://trooperbay.com/stormtrooper-sandtrooper-white-canvas-belt Make your own: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/665-howto-a-guide-to-making-a-canvas-bel Neck Seal: Vendor: Darman https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/21385-darmans-neck-seals/ Soulart https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40849-geeky-pinks-phantastic-gaskets-and-so-much-more/ Trooperbay- https://trooperbay.com/costuming-accessories/headgear-neck-seals/stormtrooper-neck-seal Make your own: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/34548-10-diy-neck-seal-v1/ Holster: NOTE: Holster straps differ for various costumes. Please see the CRL for your particular style here: http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Vendor- Darman https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16744-leather-e-11-holsters-35/ Trooperbay https://trooperbay.com/costuming-accessories/ammo-pouches/stormtrooper-genuine-leather-blaster-holster Make your own: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/23643-making-a-holster-for-anh-stunt/ Boots: Vendor: Keep Trooping https://keeptrooping.com/product/421-classic-white/ NOTE: Imperial boots are 100% approvable at every level, but they only open once a month for orders. They can run a bit small, so I suggest ordering a half size larger than what you normally wear. Vendor: Crowprops https://crowprops.bigcartel.com/product/jhodpur-tkclassic-short-boots NOTE: Crowprops are 100% approvable at every level. Make your own: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/27565-how-i-did-my-boots-tkboots-alternative/ Under Suit: Under suits can be purchased from many sources, and you have the choice of one or two piece types. I have found Amazon to be among the least expensive sources. The easiest thing to do is visit that site and search for it, for instance "Mens compression suit top black long sleeve". Examples: Mens compression suit top black long sleeve- https://www.amazon.com/s?k=mens+compression+suit+top+black+long+sleeve&ref=nb_sb_noss Mens compression suit pants black- https://www.amazon.com/s?k=mens+compression+suit+pants+black&ref=nb_sb_noss Vendor Trooperbay https://trooperbay.com/star-wars-stormtrooper-sandtrooper-black-undersuit NOTE: While some prefer the one-piece type, the two piece tends to be better when you have to... uhhh, let's just say "answer nature's call". IMPORTANT! When ordering an under suit, be aware that many have printed logos, white stitching etc. These can not be visible while wearing your armor. Hand guards (Flexible) Vendor: justjoseph63 - https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35702-fs-flexible-hand-guards-for-centurion-level/ Vendor: Trooperbay- https://trooperbay.com/flexible-hand-guards-in-white-black-or-plain Gloves: NOTE: As per the CRL for Basic 501st OT TK approval, gloves must be all black with no visible straps/logos/designs and can be rubber, Nomex, leather or a leather-like material. For Level 2 (Expert Infantry) and Level 3 (Centurion) they must be made of rubber or a rubber-like material. I highly suggest finding ones with a long wrist, which prevents it from sliding out from underneath your forearm armor. Vendor: Trooperbay- https://trooperbay.com/accurate-trooper-black-latex-gloves Vendor: justjoseph63- https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/49156-fs-rubber-gloves-for-expert-infantrycenturion-level/ eBay is also an alternative. Just search Black Nomex (or leather, rubber etc.) gloves. Be sure when ordering the rubber type from eBay that you are purchasing the heavier duty type and not the disposable kind. Thigh Garter system: Vendor: Pencap510 https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/29991-thigh-garter-system/ NOTE: These are not a requirement, but they are AWESOME! Pauldrons- (For Heavy Weapons Troopers) Vendor: Soulart https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40849-geeky-pinks-phantastic-gaskets-and-so-much-more/1 point

Hello all! I started a thread on the TK Pre-approval page just to get a general feel for what I need to do for my SDS Hero armor. I also started something on a Garrison page (Capitol City Garrison, Canada). I kind of messed it up, because I thought I was in their region, but I will actually be in the Canadian Garrison. Many people started asking me questions and giving me helpful comments about the SDS armour on the Pre-approval post. I started posting pics in those spots, and realized they weren't the place to do it. Since I am fairly new to this, I didn't realize there were actual build threads on the forums. Doh! Soooooo, long story short, I think I am supposed to post my mods and updates here. Here is the link to the pre-approval thread: www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/47286-helotech-requesting-pre-approval-sds/ |Just some initial pics: First cuts to the armor. Eeeek! It's mentally challenging to take a blade to pristine armor. Addressing the too long covering strips on the thigh armor. I will be taking the little cut off pieces and glue them on the inside of the armour at the same spot. I will then fill in the gap with ABS paste. I have a new thigh ammo pouch on order with ATA to address the rounded top corners of the SDS piece. I also ordered new helmet ear pieces to address (in the future) the 4 ear bumps. With a little work, I can make it to level two at least. Centurion in the distant future. Stay tuned !1 point

I am late starting my build thread. I am going to post some of my progress so far. I have the majority of my trimming and sanding done for now. I am hoping to make more build progress next week.1 point

Thank you so much for responding so quickly. Appreciate it very much.1 point

Hey Ben the outside half has the cover strip and it overlaps the inner.1 point

Congrats on your purchase. Don’t worry, many of us have been exactly where you are. Just take your time and do all the reading you can. Most of all, post lots of images of your progress and ask questions. Good luck!1 point

Agreed. I'm curious to see how the Mouse and LFL handles this. I'm guessing here but I'd imagine they'll just pay their high price lawyers to wash their hands of it and put the blame solely on Anovos where it should be.1 point
-
Not sure there's a right or wrong way to approach this situation. Anovos has had their customers over a barrel for far too long. I don't blame anyone who decided to ask for a refund nor do I blame those who continued to enable the ongoing dysfunctionality by buying their merchandise. Whatever happens I hope it's in the best interest of the customer, period.1 point

Sorry I meant forearms, biceps are pretty close to the same size.1 point

Biceps and forearms are different, I used heat to oval a bicep and a forearm so they matched their respective pair. With having thinner arms I also added some foam inside all of these so they sat central, with gloves on you don't notice any gaps.1 point

Member TK1901 comes up as "classified' so no doubt retired but from the Dune Sea Garrison https://www.501st.com/members/searchresults.php Once a number is taken it is taken for life so can't be used by anyone else. But you could always add an extra number to the end1 point

I was at GE on Tuesday and when I was leaving the First Order shop, I saw an employee walking into the shop with a Kylo helmet box. I assume the helmet was inside and was just sold... If I had a pre-order that I had been waiting for, I'd definitely be pissed...1 point

Thanks! Actually, it wasn't that hard - maybe 2 hours, tops! (And I've never done this before, but all the work I've done with wood and plastic helped me a great deal) For the trigger, I bought a small chunk of aluminium the thickness of the trigger, traced around it and made efficient cuts with a hacksaw to slice the metal away from the shape. Then I went in with a rough and smooth file (both with curved/flat sides) to finish off the shaping, and then went over it with some fine emery paper. For the trigger guard - that was a strip of aluminium that I bent in my vice - I laid the strip on the resin trigger guard and then drew a line where the aluminium strip deviated from the guard - I then put the aluminium strip in the vice, bent it a little, laid it back on top of the resin guard and then bent it more, or drew a new line where the aluminium and resin didn't line up - I did take this extra-careful because I knew I'd never be able to bend anything back on itself if I went too far. For the selector switch, I traced the resin one, cut it with a hacksaw and rounded off the ends with files - for the knurling, I put the end in my vice between two course files and tightened the vice until I couldn't tighten it any more = boom! real knurling! For the body of the selector switch - that's a piece of aluminium tubing I cut to the right height and then cut a 2mm slot in to slide the switch lever in, then I glued a washer to the bottom and packed out the rest of everything with plumbers resin (one of those two-part resin putties that has aluminium in it) For the sight - I just took the offcuts from the stock screws in your kit, and just filed them following the blueprints in the document you guys put together - the pair of digital calipers I use for my 3D printing came in super-handy! Thanks again though - I hated metalwork as a kid...but then again, they never let me build Star Wars blasters or nothing... ;)1 point

Hi I have this KIT and I am 5"7" I did not need to trim anything I did get a bigger kidney plate as I am a fatty Be careful trimming the Bells its hard to see the cut lines I trimmed to much from mine so had to get another set.. Ross has videos on you tube how to build his kit etc highly recommend Dan AKA CableGuy has this kit also. For me I did not use the popper kit. I went with MrNoStrips https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/20859-accurate-anh-stormtrooper-strapping-brackets-v-20-now-available/?tab=comments#comment-257207 Flexiable Hand Guards and rivets and TD screws and helmetscrews (Just in case) Justjoesoph63 https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/34902-centurion-level-rivet-sets-for-sale-open/ for other strapping I used ukswrath anovos TK build https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35086-uswraths-anovos-tk-build-stunt/ You need plenty of decent strong clamps grips, Magnets , lexan scissors, straight edge, sharp knife and sanding block with papers.. Be careful on the kidney piece mine broke at the crease.. other stupid things I did... trimmed to much from bell.. trimmed ad sides a bit to much as I am a bit fat needed shims or Ross,s Chunky Kidney piece. Hovi metal mesh cut them round instead of watching Ross Video how to stamp the out looks neater will make a 3D mode for this once I get replacement Mesh Messed up the stripes on the helmet.. make sure its aligned and the right way and its stuck down properly.. Messed up the thickness of the Helmet lines easy fix to redo.. make sure your ab buttons are not rounded off they should be square. Belt placement double double check measure twice cut once stuff.. Hovi Tips when painting dont paint the end rings of the Hovi tips just the outside part black I was obsessing to make things square and aligned etc... its not meant to be!! Welcome! enjoy building your Kit!! Hopefully now I finished my travels, I can finish my kit this weekend! paint colour guide https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/45651-anh-paint-colour-guide-tamiya-equivalents/ My build thread https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/45747-rwa-anh-tk-stunt/1 point
