  1. OK folks, As mentioned previously, due to the fact that the CRLs are being updated we will be replacing the models as well to reflect the new changes as each category is completed. In order to clarify some of the requirements, we will be adding additional photos (side views, etc.) to the existing front/back images. Please note that it may take some time to get these photos posted on the 501st site. Just changing the text is quite a job, so thanks for bearing with us. Below are the Troopers who will be the new models for the first round (except ROTJ). They have gone above and beyond with their builds, and their armor expresses their "esprit de corps". On behalf of the entire Staff, I would like to congratulate all 3! 1. ANH Stunt- Wayne Winfield, TK 32945 "Waynocerous" (Centurion) from the UK Garrison 2. ANH Hero- Eric Ho, TK 77520 "Hoda" (Centurion) from the Star Garrison 3. ESB- Arthur Wong, TK 39093 "giskard8" (Centurion) from the Hong Kong Garrison 4. ROTJ- To be announced (awaiting photos).

  4. I did alot of crowd-control with the riot-Trooper set up but sadly no photos of the first or third day and only a few the second day buuut it was a blast! Using the sheild for high-fives worked out just great. And some photostand-duty with my other set-up. TK on the left is my son, approved youngling. Some cool lights in the arena.

  5. Okay. Other than doing pipe work on the house plumbing, I haven't done much ABS manipulation, so I'll have to study up on this. Long story short about the SDS: I always wanted TK armor, and googled "Real stormtrooper" which led me to SDS. I thought I read everything I could find about it. I got lost in the multitude of forums on this and other sites, but somehow never discovered the "issues" with SDS I have many other hobbies and couldn't invest the time in completely fabricating armor from scratch (cutting out armour pieces from ABS sheets, etc...) even though I'm handy. I had the wife's enthusiastic approval and some disposable $, so I paid the money and had it shipped. Less than 2 weeks later I was dressed as a Stormtrooper. And then I discovered the "issues". Oh well. I now figure it will take me less time to fix the SDS, than doing a do-it-yourself kit. Even now knowing there are problems, I think I would still go with SDS just for the service and ease. My 2 cents... Can't wait to be an official trooper helping others.

  7. Hum ... difficult your question is ! Thinking about this I must ! Today I’ve assembled the stock. I’ve sand the little parts of metal with a Dremel. I’ve cleaned and tested the threads (WD40 is my friend !). Then, I've washed all the parts and I’ve followed Chris tutorial here. The spring plate and shoulder rest didn’t fit well and I’ve trimed the spring plate. I must say I’m absolutely bluffed with the precision of the mechanism. It works perfectly !

  8. Folding stock screws Keyhole filed out Latch added in - gave it a go with Milliput, then gave up and instead 3D modelled something based off what I could see in the Sterling reference Super-easy to glue in with a bit of superglue (as I said earlier, I'll share up all these little greeblies on Thingiverse when I'm done) So, I need to do more digging out of the front stock, fill in the pipe behind the keyhole and put in a bolt to stand in for the latch, tidy up the fake bolts And then, I think, it's onto the Ejection Port and the Clearing Strip...and more dust!

  9. Purely for completeness: a final update to close out this build thread. TK27777 reporting for duty! After 2 years this build is finally over. I was approved earlier this week. I’ve still got a few wearability enhancements to make (studs, remove more return edge, helmet fans, and of course my blaster), but probably won’t take this kit beyond L1 (never say never [emoji1]). Thanks go to those in the group who provided advice and guidance. There’ve been many, too many to mention individually, build threads I’ve followed and taken nuggets from. Off the top of my head though,@Kman,@Ukswrath,@Cricket,@themaninthesuitcase (I know I’ve typed that wrong... again!),@Rat Ferrel... if I’ve failed to mention you, don’t take offence, I’m pretty forgetful [emoji1]lol Instead of loading this post with my submission photos, here’s the one my Garrison used [emoji4] P.s. how do I get Detachment access/status updated? I can’t seem to post in the “sign off” forum. Sent from my DH77 using Tapatalk

  10. Beautiful build Linz. that little extra tab on the butt plate that AJ has mentioned is there for larger troopers that require some extra room. Doesn’t look like you really need it so it could be trimmed off. It’s obvious you are shooting for Centurion as you have all the hallmarks, so well done. If I were to add anything more to what has been suggested, it would be to drop your thighs just a touch so as to reduce the gap between your shins and the bottom of the thighs. You will have no issues passing basic.

  11. No. there is really no "too thin". You can take them right off - you can even reshape the cod if need be just so long as it has the same general shape and is proportionate to rest of your armour (unless the rest of your armour has obvious return edges - it would look funny). Also, be sure to sand the return edge right up to 600 or even 1000 grit - this smooth surface will help reduce friction. If you are worried about weakening the edges because of the lack of return edge, you can add some strips of ABS to the backside along the edges. Hope that helps.
