  2. Hiya. Power cylinders now underway. Mod to front of stock nearly finished. Also started cutting down the end cap clip to fit into the aluminium channel in Tino’s kit. (*Work in progress) :-) Dan Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Right, moved on and somewhat a lot closer to being finished but now facing a few challenges. I did a full suit up the other night for the first time. Happy with the way it went. Not too worried about the chest rising up as you can see in the pics, i didnt really take time dressing, i mainly wanted to see how the legs would be with the torso on. Needed help getting in it but got the suit off by myself!! The last bit of construction is the ammo pack onto the knee. Extra Rivets were delivered today as I'd messed up the ones TM sent. The plastics on the front on the legs practically touch so from talking to Paul, im likely to need to trim some off the bottom of the shins to lower them. The thighs feel a tad long (altho 5.10 ive clearly short legs!) But Paul advised only take off the top of the thighs as a last resort, drop the shins first. Ive taken troughs out of the back of the knees as instructed that still makes it screen accurate. Really struggling with the rivets to secure the ammo pack. Using a c-clamp to secure. Not having much success. They end up at an angle and I have to get them off with the dremel. Good news though! There's 2 of us in Cyprus!! Severain has just got cleared and in the process of setting up an outpost. Just need to get myself sorted!! Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  10. By comparison, I went pretty buck-wild on my scope hollowing; ended up with two gaping holes recovered via green stuff. Very precise and impressive hollowing job Dan, good on you

  14. Dry fitting the stock assembly. So, I forgot to do this before the undercoat painting. I should mention that Raymond (Master Blaster) does have instructions you can download and a number of youtube videos. I suggest watching the videos as there are many tips in there. Also, the instructions show a prototype kit - a few of the pieces are different and some other things are easy to miss. Anyway, the stock does extend and lock into position so things need to line up. I had to shave some material off the rear catch for the stock when it is in the extended position. I also had to file down the pin that locks the stock in place when it is folded down. During this part I also decided to sand some of the stock some more since the grooves from the 3D printing could be seen. These areas only had a light coat of the metal paint on them so it wasn't a big loss. Oh yes, and I broke that pin again. There was a lot of friction in the sliding mechanism probably due to the paint. It sheared off while testing. So I fixed it again. Had to shave off some plastic from the catches on the end of the barrel to the tabs on the stock would lock into place. Stock now locks in the extended position. You can see the horizontal print lines along the side of the stock. This will be quite visible when the stock is folded up along the barrel so I will sand and re-paint the sides. Oh yeah, and I totally missed this piece that gets glued into the butt to help lock the butt in place when the stock is extended. I had no idea until I watched one of Raymond's youtube videos. A little paint thinner to remove the enamel paint and I was good to glue the piece on.

  15. Howdi folks. Tonight was scope night. Bought a fantastic value set of wood spade bits. 6 piece for under £3. First I started by cutting down the larger lens from my monocular from Tino’s kit. I’ve managed to hollow as the scope, (as many have done previously), and thankfully it worked well. Also removed the resin screw heads and replaced with real ones (again, from Tino’s kit). Until next time. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Just a quick update: Was unable to load photos last night because I got busy working on my thighs, but here they are I'll add more details to this late, but right now it's progression photos Left Thigh: http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// Now the Right Thigh: http:// http:// http:// What I currently have... http:// still have a few more trouble spots to fix, but for the most part I'm GREATLY satisfied!!! The middle portion will be covered by a cover strip and I was given the "Ok" to use a 2". This'll greatly cover those trouble areas. I just have a little more sanding to do to blend the sides in and then it's time for spray paint!!!! And after that... *drum roll* SUBMISSION PHOTOS for basic approval.... again lol

  17. Hi thank you, yes I will . I've taken the plunge though and ordered from RS Props. Im now looking into a voice changer with preferably a static burst facility although I've read if you blow into the mic it gives off this sound. Lots to learn. Thank you for the reply. J.

  18. Thank you very much!!!! Party hardy, my friends! Now a brief update: I have added the shims (with great thanks to @wingnut65 ) and have also started adding the abs paste! I will post pictures soon... unfortunately I'm at work so cannot upload pics here. However I added one layer, sanded down, but there were still a lot of imperfections. Added a second and third layer (slowly flaring outwards to blend the two halves together), sanded down and only have a few more spots to fill and blend. I have tried to add these with a stir stick (free from starbucks, but extremely fragile) so I went ahead and use a chop stick to stir. I must say... a lot more sturdy! I then used a popsicle stick to smear the ABS Paste on (thick) to sand it back down. Thanks to Jeff, again, I'm going to be polishing it out to make it a bit easier to paint/prime. I will be heading to my local hardware store either this weekend or this Friday to choose the correct paint and primer combo. I will post pictures of the process when I get home, hopefully if everything goes well

  19. This is normally done with snaps and black elastic or nylon strapping. Some use Velcro, but I don't recommend that for frequent trooping. You should check out some of the Centurion submission threads here for ideas and photos: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Here is a diagram of a strapping system using the "double snap" system which works great:

The transition from summer to autumn is a busy one, especially for those of us with kids. If you thought FISD would pause while the staff got adjusted to the new schedule, think again. We’ve been busy! On what might you ask? Just a few simple things: 1. Getting the Rogue One CRL to *done* 2. Getting the The Last Jedi TK CRL to *done* 3. Getting the The Last Jedi Executioner CRL to *done* These should be released any day. Huge, huge thanks go to Glen (TK-85421 | gmrhodes13), Kit (TK-44840 | kitgutierrez), Jim (TK-82480 | jimmiroquai), and Reese (_Par) who were instrumental in getting the photos and text sorted out. The CRLs would still be languishing if it weren't for their combined efforts. Many other members contributed thoughts and ideas on the R1 over many months to get it where it is today. Glen & Kit are the first two The Last Jedi - Executioner applicants in the Legion and are ready for speedy approval. Please join me in congratulating them both as it's not every day you can say you were the first in a costume category. Huzzah! What does it take to make a Last Jedi stormtrooper? Come on by FISD and found out - it's not that much different from the regular First Order TK, and a great variation for holders of that costume just like going ANH Hero, ESB, or HWT is for ANH Stunt troopers. Having the Rogue One TK CRL complete also will make it easier for MEPD to complete the Jeddha Trooper "deployed" version of this costume as well. In addition we have new merch that is about to be launched. Coins for certain, but also an FISD "1st Millennium" special SWAG for exclusively for the first 1000 Expert Infantry stormtroopers in the Legion. It will be amazing, that's all I can say. There is still more to come in October, but for now I think that's quite a bit. Before I sign off, special recognition must go to our tireless webmaster Mathias (Locitus), who rescued the forums from upgrade disarray and got us back on our feet. The next drink is on us Mathias! Happy trooping, and here's to a great run-up in advance of the soon to be released Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. Do you enjoy using your knowledge to help out future and existing Troopers? If so, we would like to invite you to join the Imperial Attache program! Members of the I.A. team are chosen to help out not only those here on the boards, but on a local level as well. Our aim is to have at least one in each and every Garrison, Squad and Outpost in the entire legion to be the eyes and ears of the FISD on a local level. A suggested level of EIB or above is preferred, as part of the duties include assisting those aiming for levels 2 and 3, but is not a requirement. Being active on the boards on a regular basis and helping out where you can is, though. Some of the benefits: 1. Access to exclusive Attache merch., including patches, etc. 2. Having the Imperial Attache title under your name. 3. Being a part of the team that welcomes new and prospective members of the FISD. 4. Being the "go-to" person in your Garrison, Squad or Outpost. 5. Exclusive access to the Attache HQ area, Imperial Propaganda Machine (newsletter) and merchandise discussions. We are currently in need of Attaches in many units, especially International Garrisons/Squads and Outposts. I'm not talking about hurricane Irma, I mean the Photobucket disaster of 2017! For those who do not know what I'm talking about... I mean this: A lot of important build threads and tutorials have been destroyed. One of the most important victims was our famous E-11 Blaster Reference. This Super-Thread is critical to any blaster builder because it provides all the information you need to build a good looking detailed E-11. It's the main source of information to improve your blaster build. To save the thread and make it usable again, I managed to restore all the lost images. Now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battle station Blaster Reference! Our aim is to reach the one thousand mark of Troopers who have earned their Expert Infantry Badge, and although we are well on our way to this goal, we still have a long way to go! The amount of approved submissions is increasing (almost 90 this year alone) thanks to the dedication of those willing to go the "extra mile" toward screen accuracy. Did you know: as an incentive to hit this milestone, and as a way of recognizing the first millennium of FISD Expert Infantryman, we have some soon to be revealed merchandise that will only be available for a limited time to the first 1000 EI. So, if you are thinking about going EI, now is the time to do so. Here is a brief description of EIB as written by Paul (Daetrin), our founder: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable..." Besides the added pride you will have in your armor, those reaching this level can purchase exclusive EIB gear (patches, decals, etc.) and get a free certificate for your accomplishment. If you are interested or would like more information about the program, there is a link below** that will help.
