I received the silicone hard guards from Just Joseph and gloves from trooperbay and used e6000 and they are sticking on with no problem. Love them1 point

When it's ready. We're all users of tapatalk, rest assured that we will get it working eventually, as we want to use it just as much as you. You can use the web browser in your phone in the meantime. It works quite well with the mobile friendly skin.1 point

Congrats and welcome! Building a TK is fun and challenging, and it seems that you're up for it! I'm also building a WTF kit, and it comes with its own set of quirks. I'm discovering them as I build. Looking forward to seeing your custom leather additions to your kit!1 point

WOW! What can I say, James.. your attention to detail is fantastic, and I can't wait to see the finished product!! If I may make a suggestion, when it comes time for the tubing around the barrel I used 1/4 inch thick windshield washer hose. After looking everywhere for something to use on my Hyperfirm, I found it in an auto parts store, sold by the foot. I cut it into 12 inch sections (yours may differ) and glued it on using E-6000. The joins are at the bottom as no one sees them anyway. I used a few feet extra for the tube that extends along the side and over the top. Keep up the great work!!!!1 point

GREAT tutorial, and smart thinking on using the propane torch, Zel... "where there's a will, there's a way! Another option is to purchase a soldering or woodburning iron. These are relatively inexpensive (less than 20 bucks) at Lowe's or or any craft store and you can use them not only make the holes, but seal the edges (to prevent fraying) as well. "(I plan on owning many shoulder bells in the future which I can swap in and out, each painted to represent a charity/ cause to support. Ex. rainbow shoulder bell for pride, puzzle shoulder bell for autism etc.)".... AWESOME idea!!!1 point

Well deserved approval Mandy. You worked really hard and it shows in the quality of your build. Can't wait to see your EIB application next. And you know where we go from there. Congrats Trooper. Welcome to the 501st!!1 point

The easiest way to get started is to use MDF. Medium Density Partial board. Every home depot type store has it. You can cut pieces and glue them together to form a block from which to start cutting and sanding . Best to have some good tools , dremel , bench sanders , you can never have too many tools. Another thing to keep handy is some Bondo. It's for doing body work on cars but you can use it on wood too. Dries quick so use it fast. But if you sand too much off of the wood, just slap some Bondo on and start reshaping. That's one way that's quick and easy to get started. Although, getting your molds to look the way they are supposed to takes some time and tweaking, and tweaking, and more tweaking if you get my point. Don't expect quick satisfaction. It's a art form that takes time to refine. I'm very handy with building things but found this to be very challenging. On the flip side..... it is a lot of fun and so very rewarding when you get things to look good. Keep asking questions, others may have more ideas to share. Good luck, Tom1 point

It's been a busy week, but I found some time to work on the armor. Here's a test fit of the Ab, Chest, Back, Kidney, and Butt Everything is held together with velcro for the test fitting (I will be replacing the velcro with snap plates once I'm confident that the fit is correct). Happy that the back/kidney/butt all line up correctly, and I won't have to shorten any of the pieces. The return edges are trimmed to 1/8" on all pieces, except for the top of the Ab plate, where I had to remove the return edge completely. The ANOVOS belt is huge on me, but I have a replacement on the way from Imperial Issue. Other than the sagging butt plate (my velcro placement wasn't quite right), does anyone see any fit issues? I'm hoping to get these pieces correctly fitted before working on the arms and legs, since I'll have to trim the length on most of the pieces to get them to fit. Thanks in advance for any advice/tips!1 point

I was trying to add that back, but the new editor doesn't have native bbcode, and it broke quotes when I added it. It might come, but it might take a while.1 point

Greetings Stormtroopers! Our incredible webmaster Eric Brager (Darth Aloha) has completed the long, long overdue update of our forum to the latest version. One of the cool new features is being able to drag and drop photos directly in to posts. The boards are now modern and on par with our sister detachments of MEPD & SpecOps (and even IOC). Over the next several weeks we'll be doing some small UI tweaks here and there, however if you do see anything out of line, do create a post in the tech center and we'll start taking a look. Note, some pages like the EIB/Centurion list will need to be re-created, but should be easier now. So there are a few things that we know we need to do. Thanks for your patience, now let's get the party started!1 point

It was a rainy weekend here in Texas, so I spent all of Saturday doing the first round of trimming on the armor pieces. Started by marking the cut lines on each piece with a China Marker. Setting up my work area: cutting mat, Husky utility knife, lexan scissors, and safety glasses Scoring, snapping, and cutting It took all day, but the first round of trimming is done.1 point

I bought a Hyperfirm E11 and a Bapty E11 in the US last year. German customs were mainly interested in the price to charge import taxes. The officer looked at the blasters, classified them as toys and asked for a bill of sales to calculate the import fee. Toy guns that look like real ones have to be stored in a locked container for transport. Important: Airsoft Guns with auto fire and an energy over 0.5 Joule are forbidden in Germany. All other airsoft guns with an energy over 7.5 Joule are classified as live weapons and you need a permit to own them.1 point

I have a pair of Joseph's hand guards attached with E6000 to rubber gloves like he mentions above. I wear them for trooping. After almost a year, they are still tightly attached.1 point

I was able to get mine to fit without touching my nose... I did one vocoder with magnets to get it tight to the helmet and another one with standoffs like in aarons thread. The cheek boxes I trimmed to fit... i placed a total of four cheek boxes... two went in the nape of the neck to cover more electronics. I have a pretty big head 7 5/8" hat.1 point

I will vouch for Francois credibility, mine originally got lost vis USPS and I panicked, he offered to send me another pair at no charge, just pay shipping. At the very last minute someone in my complex fessed up to having them and I cancelled. Not many people do that now adays. Im about 25 troops into mine and they are broken in very nicely. Kicking back at the office1 point

Mine arrived yesterday, thanks. Look and smell great!! They are rather narrow fitting but im sure theyll stretch out a bit. Got to say, bit disrespectful to be talking about other boots and posting links to them on this guys thread. Hes doing a service to the community in an area with few options. If you dont like these boots fine, dont post here, and let the guy try to build his business. Cheers1 point

This thread is about Imperial Boots product. If you wanna talk about other prop makers, thank you to open a new thread for that.1 point

Thanks Brian, we shouldn't expect anything less from our vendors, comfort, accuracy, longevity, etc. To the new troopers: The reason we stress accuracy is because without it any white boot, armor apparel or armor itself would suffice, and we don't want that. A standard has been set for your benefit and the accuracy (Canon) of the armor you wear.1 point

We can always improve and comments are welcome. Regarding cheap junk from China, I accept constructive criticism. Saying that China product is cheap Junk is not a constructive comments. Throw away your computer, hand phone, TV and probably the shoe you are wearing. They are all made in China. If you knew the quantity of SW stuff/props made in China...1 point

For what it is worth, being in the same garrison, I own several pairs of boots from IB, including the TK ones and they are all awesome. I did a 2k run in full TK outfit can't see crap in the bucket, ended up with bruises all over my legs - but the boots were comfy as slippers. I 'm now waiting for my CT boots.1 point

I am here. There is an ongoing run on 501st.com. Boots equiped lot of garrisons and members around the world. I am not inactive...but belong to Chinese Garisson and yes I am based in Shanghai. CT boots prototype V4 is under development with the support of the CT forum. Yes we do have the concept trooper boots with metal KK zip. Any question feel free.1 point

I just finished making mine and I made a couple modifications. Instead of using elastic, I used heavy interfacing which gives the belt some thickness. I think also that it would be a little cheaper to buy at the fabric store. The other thing, which is in response to your question above, I used a serger to finish the edges instead of a zigzag stitch.1 point

Thanks for the awesome tutorial I'm going to get right on this. Oh and a serious thanks to fireblade.1 point
