  1. Great job and congratulations!
  2. I've always worn mine tucked into my black shirt, but I always hate how you can see the shirt logo's on the back of the neck of the shirt even though I've used a black sharpie on them. I'm considering leaving it untucked but worry that the extra neck seal material will look messy. Thoughts?
  3. This is the exact set up I'm using and really enjoying it! I just clip on the Aker speaker on my shoulder strap that is hidden under my chest piece and clip my iPod on the other strap. Nice an loud, I really enjoy having people hear what I say!
  4. Hey Chunk, how old is your FX armor? I ask because I bought mine back last July, and the kit had been updated so that smaller silver screws were included that you paint to use as the buttons. They are the correct size. Here are what mine look like:
  5. It's really coming along very well! I can see that you are having problems with your elastic garter: I went to the thrift store and bought a black belt for a couple of dollars and put snaps in it to hook my thigh straps into. The armor covers the black belt completely. You might want to try that.
  6. I joined the facebook group. Wow, they deserve to be on the show.
  7. Hi Kaleb, I'd strongly suggest reading through this thread, as it will explain what you need to do to get the Rubies armor ready for 501st status: -----
  8. It's gorgeous, you should be proud!
  9. I could easily make it in Flash, but the issue with having it animated is that it is going to play every single time you switch pages which will just get really annoying having to watch the same animation over and over again without any way to turn it off or stop it. Maybe a more subtle animation of a light glint going across the logo with large gaps of static inbetween the repeated cycle might not make it as annoying.
  10. Of course you turn it sideways! You thought I didn't try that?
  11. If your head is on the large side, definitely stay away from an AP lid! Someone in our garrison has one, and he even widened the opening and me and another guy could NOT get our heads in at all! I don't have a large head, but a larger nose and that kept me out of it.
  12. Wow! I especially love the graphics you in the sight!
  13. I just tried it again, and the mic most definitely does pick up the noise of the fans. I'm thinking that it's probably not going to be a problem once I am out in public. When I did a sound test with my old speaker system, it sounded nice and loud while testing it here at home, but once I got to the event, the ambient sound totally drowned out my speaker and no one could hear it at all even with the sound turned all the way up (hence the reason I upgraded to the Aker set up). So I am thinking that being out and about, no one will hear the humming sound of the fans vs. when I'm testing it in a totally quiet room with no other sounds.
  14. I built a big pocket into the back of my holster that I usually put my car keys in. I do really like the idea of that neck wallet though!
  15. Got my sweet new Aker mic and speaker set up. Just tried it out and because my fans in my helmet are right at the mouth level, the microphone picks up the humming sound of the fans. So I'm guessing I need to place my fans somewhere else in my helmet. I really like where they currently are because they keep my lenses from fogging up. I've heard that some people put the fans in the back of the helmet to keep the circulation going, but my question is this. How well do the fans do in the back? Or is there a better place I could place the fans?
  16. My local Walmart has them for $17.00
  17. I'm not suggesting buying this, I just think it's interesting to see.... Australian Altmann armor
  18. Hmmm.... being 6'5" means that you'll have a lot of black showing in between your ab and chest pieces as well as your back and kidney pieces (when there really shouldn't be any black showing in those spots). Might want to consider something that is larger like AM armor or RT-Mod.
  19. Good tips, I wished I hadn't already went in and just started blasting away with the black spray paint and didn't even think about priming or sanding it.
  20. I bought a Hasbro blaster (the white one with the blue and orange trim) and am in the process of painting it with black spray paint. I wanted to know if anyone here had any advice on what I could put on it after it is done being painted to keep the paint from coming off through use, and exposing the white plastic.
  21. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I am so sorry that happened to you! We had one of our members get their TK stolen when it was in the back of a car that was stolen. The car was found, but the contents cleaned out and gone. I hate mean people!
  22. I filled my seam in with white caulking.
  23. I'll second what has already been said above. I too troop with a MRCE and FX armor. Made some small changes to my helmet for my own personal preference. Lots of my garrison members wear the same helmet with very little changes to it.
  24. Mighty fine looking armor there. Good photo too, that color is not easy to film!
