  1. Rick, unless you are a 501st member, you will not see the "501st Members Only" section of the message boards. If you are a member you should see it.
  2. Yep, down on my end too.
  3. "We can't repel flavour of that magnitude"!
  4. That's great, and the hood looks good too, just the right shape, which can be hard to do.
  5. Same guy, different names.
  6. It's for any 501st member not just Elite Infantry men.
  7. That's awesome Lou, congratulations!
  8. Just get these:----- They are what I got and they fit great, and they are cheap too. Why re-invent the wheel when someone has already done the work?
  9. Search the forum for the seller "makerofthings" as his armor has already been discussed.
  10. Yep, I've seen some garrison members who've had the same problem... rounded bubbles form on the opposite side of a glued snap.
  11. I think it's true for various aspects of our garrison: lots of initial interest, but when it comes down to putting your money where your mouth is, few show up. Back on topic: I'm super excited for these trading cards! I need to take some new pics of me in armor to choose from!
  12. This truly is a great deal people! I've been waiting on my garrison for too long to try to get together enough people together to do a run of cards. The fact that you can do your own personal run of trading cards here, anytime you want is invaluable!
  13. I just saw a helmet kit being sold on the legion boards for $100. It was sold fairly quickly though!
  14. Yep, that's what I've got, very comfortable.
  15. I think the run for the legion calendars is over. You have to look for it in December when they are selling and shipping to be at your home and ready for use on January 1st.
  16. Cut it. Just make sure the cut is hidden behind the belt,
  17. A lot of it comes down to knowing which armor features come from which film in the trilogy. As was mentioned above, there is a conglomerate of different smaller details that are specific to an individual movie that are occurring within the Disney armor. For example the soles of the boots are black in ANH and ESB, but are white in ROTJ. So if the Disney armor has the white soled boots and the trim on the armor, then it most likely represents the armor in ROTJ, which would mean that the frown should be painted black and not grey. Although the helmet does have it's quirks, I will admit that it is better than the FX helmet that most of the 501st troopers wear when marching in the parade! Here is an accurate helmet for reference: ---------- The Disney helmet could be improved by: -smaller, blue tube stripes -more accurate mic tips -grey cheek traps instead of black -3 screws added to each ear (if they aren't already there) -perhaps make the eye opening bigger/wider (this can only help the people in costume also be able to see more) As for the armor, besides what has already been mentioned above: -the drop boxes should be hung with white straps not black -Holsters? It would be great to see some leather holsters riveted to the belt!
  18. Richard, it's looking fantastic! The size of the shoulders can give you a broader look, but when you put the helmet on it all works out. They may look big when you aren't wearing your helmet, but the helmet is obviously bigger than your head and balances the sizing out visually. I remember when I first put my shoulder bells on without my helmet, I thought I looked like an (american) football player!
  19. I've never had a crunching velcro sound when I walk. The only time the velcro makes any noise is when you are ripping it apart when putting it on, other than that it does not create any residual noise when moving in it.
  20. For trooping purposes, what's the use of having screen accurate glued thigh pieces if you find you can't get into them? Water retention, heat expansion, not to mention unexpectedly gaining a few pounds would all leave you having to cram your fat little sausage thighs into tight and uncomfortable spaces.
  21. Mine are velcro'd and I'm glad. I put on some extra weight after a surgery last December and my thighs got bigger, and I was able to open up the backs of my thigh pieces more in order to get them on. And as Darrel says, no one really looks at you much from the back. All pics are taken from the front! Just don't use black velcro, use white!
  22. Are the MRCE ear width currently OK under EIB, or do they need to be trimmed? (I can't remember.) Ah, never mind, I went and looked at the EIB pics and saw many MRCE helmets w/o trimmed down ears, so it looks like they don't need to be thinned down.
