  1. Are you planning on gluing the front and back permanently or putting velcro on the back?
  2. I cut my butt piece off originally so that I would be able to sit down, but it turns out that I almost never sit down, although I am glad for the times I can (like getting a ride in a car). I too try to keep my belt securely right over the seam between the butt and back piece but end up spending most of my time fiddling with it to get it back in place once I have had to bend over and the butt piece pops out from beneath the belt. Kind of a love/hate situation really.
  3. So does this hold so well that if you tried to sit down it wouldn't budge? Or if you bend far enough does it give?
  4. Wow, very nice job and great attention to details!
  5. Congrats Tom! I too have been noticing lately just how helpful you have been on the boards, especially taking the time to give new members helpful links and encouragement. Well done trooper!
  6. You should do what they did at trooperfest in Vegas: have a cardboard stormtrooper costume contest. I believe what they did was divide everyone into 3 teams and gave them cardboard, knives, scissors and tape along with photo reference and they had to create a TK costume all within a time limit and have someone on their team wear it. Looks like it was pretty fun. There might be videos of it on youtube if you search for 'trooperfest'.
  7. These boots were mentioned on these forums a month or two after I bought my caboots, I don't have the money to buy an extra pair of these boots, so it's painful to hear how great these new ones are. On a positive note, my caboots match all of the the other TK's that I troop with in my garrison...
  8. Great job! I am envious of the sun and green trees you are experiencing right now while I am in the snow and glum of February!
  9. That turned out awesome, great job!
  10. Agreed, the FX bucket is way too big and will probably make you look like a bobblehead doll when wearing it. If you are willing to shell out the bucks for an MRCE then you don't have to assemble anything. If you don't mind assembling a helmet, then you can probably get a kit for the same price and it will be even more screen accurate.
  11. It was recommended by members in my garrison to use a glue called "Goop" which works exactly the same as E6000. Smelly, but holds remarkably well.
  12. Looks great, I love the shine on your boots - really goes well with the armor. BTW, get ready to be mistaken for Darth Vader when you go trooping! :vader1:
  13. Yeah, it just looks like you need to use a stronger glue, let it sit for a long while to make sure it is fully dried and cured before you move onto the back. By the way, I put industrial strength velcro on the backs of mine to be able to adjust for leg thickness, either if I lose or gain weight, or if I let someone borrow my armor, they can adjust it for their legs, so only the fronts are glued on mine.
  14. AM armor will be really easy to assemble.
  15. Looking forward to watching your progress - can't wait to see someone finish an AM build!
  16. Here are the fan made helmets: ----- Here is a page on the Master Replicas helmets: -----
  17. I made my own E-11 holster and put a big pocket in the back of it that can hold my wallet, or a camera.
  18. Love how it's looking!
  19. I'd suggest drilling out the rest of the teeth, it would be weird to have the indentations for the other teeth in the helmet and not have them cut out.
  20. Just goes to show you that what might be most screen accurate, isn't always the greatest to troop in.
  21. Let's stop and think about how the 3D releases would impact us as troopers: this would introduce another younger generation to classic star wars that has been living solely off the prequels and clone wars only. Remember what the re-release back in 1997 did? It got the entire 501st legion going! How awesome would it be to have younger kids know and recognize all of the classic characters they see at troops instead of just the clone troopers and other prequel characters? Let's put Lucas' motives aside and realize that this would be a huge boost to the recognizability of the 501st and also provide many more trooping opportunities, not just at the screenings, but there would be a big influx of 501st requests at various events and charities.
  22. I'm still shocked that he threw it all in a box without any padding or cushioning to protect the armor while in mail transit!
  23. Well, no matter when it happens, I'm trooping the premiers'!
  24. Looks fantastic! Got a link to the Star Wars book?
  25. Hey Izzi, good to see you over here. I didn't get a chance to talk with you at the last event since I had to leave right after, but I wanted to tell you that your Novatrooper looked awesome! I especially like the smaller more correct sized helmet vs. the oversized FX helmet.
