  1. Black done 23 more colors to go!
  2. Glen's idea has been tried (unlike mine) so I'd agree. Maybe put somewhere like an airing cupboard or somewhere warm (but not too warm) to really dry out all the nooks and crannies, in case it's trapped moisture that caused the rust. Just be careful of any direct heat that could warp your plastics
  3. I wonder if this could work(?) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00B1PNHBC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_ZNR3ZZYJNTKG7J2BER8A It dries a bit rubbery, and is what I used to dye my black boots white. It's perfect on my boots, but obviously belts and boots are not the same. Or maybe this... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004YCOTEI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_4REAGXTCGPDYZZ9KQCY7 (Not sure if it could end up staining your undersuit though)
  4. [emoji1] Thanks Glen
  5. Hi, Welcome to FISD! I hope you didn't injure your leg in the excitement of your armor arriving!! If you haven't already its worth checking in with your local garrison. I think this would be yours... https://www.fl501st.com/ Even fully commissioned armor often needs some tweaks, and you may find the GMLs (the guys that finalise approval) ask you to do some things before you're cleared, but that's OK. Check back in here and with the Florida Garrison and we'll get you sorted out and trooping in no time. Well, once your leg is better anyway [emoji4][emoji106] Rich
  6. While I'm waiting to get started on another armour I figured I'd try something to help me relax. No idea how this is going to go!
  7. Congratulations Tim, and welcome to the EIB ranks! I knew you'd do it. Maybe some of the changes needed for Centurion seem scary, but if I can help at all please let me know. Everyone here at FISD will give you all the help you need to achieve Centurion, no problem. Rich
  8. Hi Piers, Another ESB stormtrooper, excellent choice [emoji1] (though there are no bad choices when it comes to the empire [emoji6]). Not much in the way of info I can add to the messages you've already had, other than to add my welcome, and to say that there really is no such thing as a silly question. All the best with your build, Rich
  9. Hi Luca, It's really good to have you here. With the replies you've had already hopefully you can already tell you're in the right place if you need any help or reassurance. There's a huge amount of skill and experience over here, and there's no such thing as a silly question, so if you're not sure about anything just ask. Good luck with completing your build, Rich
  10. Hi Alan, The way you've described how you got here is almost exactly the same as my journey, and reading others posts its the same as many others. Pretty much everyone here can identify with you, I'm sure. And you're definitely in the right place. You'll be hard pushed to find a more knowledgeable and supportive lot than right here, I can testify to that. Good luck with your build. If you have any questions, however weird or silly you think they are, post here. We've all been there, and you'll always get help. Rich
  11. Good work on the v tabs. You have a great looking butt [emoji6]
  12. Really nice build / review video. Thanks!
  13. I'm not a DO, but I've seen comments on previous submissions asking for the butt to be brought more in line and reduce the sticking out to a minimum.
  14. With the way I've glued it, to the butt, it keeps the butt flush with the kidney, which automatically stops it from overlapping on top of the kidney. Can only speak for how that's worked for me, but I totally trust everything Glen says (costume wise at least [emoji6]). I made my tabs quite long, but probably could have made them shorter, as I don't feel like they're under a lot of stress. I used superglue / CA, and it's holding fine so far.
  15. Welcome Trooper Good to have you here
  16. For sure you've got your work cut out! Guess I'll leave you to it then [emoji6][emoji16]
  17. Sorry Glen. Would I be of any help looking in the same section as you're working on, or am I best off leaving you to it?
  18. Always had it in my head you glued the butt! Worked for me anyways [emoji1][emoji106]
  19. Also, haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else, but I painted the bent part of the v tabs black (with enamel paint), or you could cover with black tape. Just to make sure there's no chance of them showing through the small gap between butt and kidney
  20. Congratulations! Welcome to EIB! Re: the v tabs... Just glue to the butt plate. The kidney plate side is floating
  21. Excellent, good work mate. Its a good feeling, isn't it!
  22. I'm really enjoying seeing your build progress Alikh. You're obviously thorough, have a great eye for detail, and are not afraid to ask questions; the perfect combination! As already mentioned, keep the advanced levels in mind while building, because with your approach you're going to be well on the way.
  23. Tim, In case you weren't sure, the three DOs are: justjoseph63, TKSpartan and Chemi
