Hi all, After posting on other threads, I’ve had a few PMs regarding what I used to line the interior of my RWA TK lid. So, here we go... [emoji4] I take no credit for the idea - I saw a fellow UK Garrison member (CTID here on FISD) using this method and really liked the results. So, the main lining is Black A4 Size Eva Self Adhesive Foam Sheets. They can be easily cut to size, easy to adhere and give a really nice finish. Another thing I really like about this method is that you can use existing or additions strips of this foam to conceal internal wiring. From the outside, especially lower angles (child view), there is no internal white on show. The fan system is self built. The 5v blower fans are powered by a cylindrical Anker powerbank which fits nicely in the “cheek/tube”. Individual switches allow for flexibility. Any questions, do let me know. Best wishes, Dan

Wow. 11/10 for dedication, Jesse. :-) Just out of interest, what made you decide to cover the magazine cap with green stuff? Was it just to stamp the OFF —> ? I only ask as the original piece appears to be around 1mm (or so) metal, much like the piece you fabricated, then added green stuff to. Were you tempted to make the cap out of one piece of metal and find a way to stamp into the metal, keeping the thickness to around 1mm? Best wishes, Dan Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

TK-42145 Requesting (ANH Stunt) Centurion Status (RS) [380]

Great work! The painting on that trap is really neat! lol - I know what you mean with the kids. My five year old wears my old lid and walks around saying “move along, move along”. Btw, that looks like a beautiful collection in the background.

Hi Dave. Just out of interest, what width are you going for on those coverstrips? If you’re aiming for screen accurate, the sizes are usually 15mm for the arms, 20mm for the legs (except for the calves 25mm). Looking at your pics, I’d guess yours might be around 40mm? Also, the thigh cover strips don’t run the full length of the thigh - they stop at the lower ridge. Hope that helps. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Suspend's Doopydoo's E11 (with T-Jay's Kit + Suitcase Props) Build
CableGuy replied to Suspend's topic in ANH BlasTech E11
Hi Mark, I’ve only painted one blaster so far, but found I had three distinct finishes, which I believe is based on the amount of top coat I added. In the picture below, you’ll see that the folding stock has a distinctly mottled effect, much more so than the barrel next to it. For this piece, I followed the same process as I was doing for all “metallic” parts of the blaster; primer > metallic silver > hammered black > Matt black. However, when I sprayed the Matt black over the hammered effect, I think I went too heavy and lost some of the hammered effect - it looked very flat and lifeless to me. So. I simply sprayed, from a distance, a light coat of hammered OVER the Matt black. That is the end finish that you now see on the folding stock. To me, it as a slight “rusted” feel to it. My favourite finish on the blaster is the end cap. I used the same coating process as before, primer > metallic silver > hammered black > Matt black, but applied a lighter top coat of Matt black. This, to me, left a much nicer finish. My least favourite part would be the main barrel, especially around the t-tracks. To get enough paint coverage in and around the t-tracks, I had to apply a thicker top coat of Matt black. As such, the hammered effect is very minimal around the front end if the blaster but does improve around the middle and rear. Hope that makes sense to a degree. In short, the quantity of top coat (applied over the hammered effect) can make a big difference. Dan. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Neckron666 Requesting Pre Approval (RS ANH Stunt)
CableGuy replied to Neckron666's topic in Request TK Pre-Approval
Great work Shay. The belt and TD look much better now. :-) A quick fix, if you wanted to do it, would be to shorten the shoulder bell elastics by about an inch, bringing the shoulder bells up close (almost touching) the shoulder bridges. Here’s a good example. Might not affect basic, but gets you another step closer to level 2 if you’re heading that way. :-) Best wishes, Dan Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Hi everyone, I’m sharing the following on behalf of the wife of one of our UKG sandies. Lol. Surgeon hands at the ready!!! As a trooping blaster, I think this approach will be best for now. I’m not planning to remove the mag at any point, other than in transit. Glad and to see my proposed lines look good. I’ve been looking at similar mags for reference but really appreciate your eye over it. Hopefully get get some more done over the next few days. -

Hi Jesse, Many thanks. Yes, it needs work but should be worth it in the end, I hope. Lol It’s a solid piece rather than hollow. I’ve seen others (Tino I think) drill right the way through to mod the top plate release button. If I’m honest, I’m not going to pursue that mod at this stage. Just a simple replacement for the Doopy’s. I’ll be working on the well with it attached. I don’t think I’m going to hollow out too much of the mag well, partly for stability/strength of the well, and also to utilise the existing magnets in the well. As such, I will likely do this: Remove part beyond red line - green line shows where magazine will intersect with the mag well. I’ll have a better look once the weather improves and I can get out to my shed. Currently -4 degrees outside. Whilst the Dremel works in those conditions, I’m not sure that my hands would!! Hi guys, Just following your paint talk. If I did mine again, I’d be tempted to spray my hammered effect black a little thicker. It looked fine on its own, however when I coated with the top coat of Matt black, a lot of the hammered detail was lost. Definitely worth experimenting with whatever you end up with, but also with a top coat. Dan :-) -

Howdi folks, So, a little package arrived today. Time to make another mod. ;-) I’ve had a few bits now from UK based Imperial Warfighters. When I saw that a new mag was available, either rubber or resin, I couldn’t resist. It is not an overly expensive piece so I am not disappointed with the slight issues that I’m correcting. Being resin, it is easy to work with. The size is much better than the Doopy’s and, with a little bit of work, should look much nicer as an overall blaster when finished. The green stuff will undergo a lot of fine tuning once it has dried, including refining the shape of the top cap and its “lip” overlap. The following shows my holding the new mag behind the mag housing. The housing and the mag will require some re-sizing to get it fitted nicely. Also, as a side note, I’ve now made transporting my blaster a lot easier, safely housed in the lid of my battle box. More to come. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Lol. Tube Stripe Sheriff, at your service. ;-) Joking aside, you’ve done all of the hard work, mate. Can’t wait to see your sandie progress, too. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I think they look really classy. Great job, Brien.

Woo hoo. I’ll get the popcorn ready. ;-) There’s usually a some green stuff in Tino’s kit. If not, somewhere like Games Workshop should have some. Failing that, possibly Hobbycraft. Failing THAT, Amazon or eBay. :-) Looking forward to your build. [emoji1] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you paint inside of your helmet?
CableGuy replied to Staffa359's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Hi Fred, Neither option will affect clearance, so more of a personal choice. Some leave it bare, as the originals. Other troopers on here have used Plasti-dip to coat the inside of their lids. Personally, I went with black, self adhesive EVA as I wanted a dark interior, but removable if required. My lid with EVA (craft foam) Best wishes, Dan Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Seeing how you have approached your excellent blaster build, I have no doubt that you'll knock this one out of the park. Looking forward to seeing your progress... Dan
