1. So here's my solution to the problem. I glued together some plastic pieces into a stack, and glued it to the shin. Once I've e6000'd the shin, I'll put some filler and superglue into the seam to blend it in. What does everyone think?
2. Hey Tim, or Daetrin, Im kind of in trouble with my build. Need help A.S.A.P, especially from GML's!!! So I've scared the crap out of myself last night assembling my TK shin armor. I am assembling a full R1 TK for when the in progress CRL is released. I am shooting for basic. While I made my own trim tonight for my shin armor, I did something incredibly stupid. I let the bottom cut of the trim go with the cut at the bottom of one of the shin halves I think I was going to hide with the overlap in the shin pieces. What do I do? Could this pass basic, seeing as how the 2 staff guys on the forums want the basic guidelines in thr CRL to truly be basic? I can't submit for less than a year, and this'll scare and pester me until then I used loctite superglue here, but intend on using e600 for the assembly of the shins.
3. Observe the shoulder straps. They are ribbed, very similar to the ones on the R1-TK. Might help with other builders looking for straps. As long as it isn't wonky, but rather has a uniform look. For some reason I can't copy/paste an image from the other thread. Here's the link. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/39908-correct-way-to-connect-the-ribbed-straps-to-the-chest-armor/
4. Hey! To answer your second question first, I completely hollowed out the tube stripes, and am planning on backing the underside with something blue. Screen grabs are telling me they used blue tape, hence some overlaps you see in the vents. Plus they were designed to be actually air vents for the actors, so maybe? The seam along the jaw isn't a mandatory thing, just something I think helps with the SA of the helmet. However, the one I made was too high up. It should have been done at an angle so that it actually went into the jaw, instead of a seam just above the jaw and in the cheek of the helmet. But before adding to your frustration, keep an eye on the CRL thread for any information regarding the helmet in the different levels. For all we know, the jaw seam may not be neccesary for basic! Hope this helps!
5. Just to add to the strap discussing. On the ROTJ trooper, the straps are rubber/ribbed, like the R1 TK images above. It would make it easier to slip on, and you can have the straps glued to the armor with the slot covers over it. Let me pull up a ref pic in a little bit of what I mean. Anyhow, another observation is that the shoulder bells operate on a similar strapping system to the FOTK and the Deathtroopers. They stay slightly stationary when the arms move, but they do move with the arm. You can see the gap between the bicep and the bottom of the shoulder bell when they move forward. So it very obviously is connected to the shoulder straps using a slightly stiffer strap or rubber piece, so that it stays relatively still, but also moves with the arms.
6. I agree with Slufox on the topic: if standard TK'S are assigned this duty, it should be an option. However, working it out with MEPD will be interesting.
7. Are you referring to the action sequence with the Rebel rescue on the prisoner transport? You can see no balaclava in that scene.
8. Hey Tim! So a few more ideas to bring up for the CRL. There hasn't been much traffic, so trying to "mover er along." So the chest armor. Daetrin was mentioning that he'd like this to be a pretty accesible, with basic really being basic. The chest armor is your normal TK armor, with the only real revision is the curve in the sculpt that goes up towards the shoulder straps. If you look at it, it curves to the edge, instead of being more straight. Do you guys want to allow already made ANH chest armor for basic, mainly because it has the generic shape, only it doesn't have this curvature detail? I mean, it would be easier to get pretty clean sculpted ANH armor, and add the black strip of plastic under the arms that connect to the back armor. Im looking at chest armor similar to the one you have in your signature DarthCMF. Also the only other modification would be to add the slots for the shoulder straps. And here is an idea I have for the ribbed suit. I'm thinking measurements of the ribs only come in more for the EIB and Centurion levels, with basic having it be a fairly small kind of rib going along the shirt and gaskets.
9. "Sanitation???"
10. I 100% agree with both of you. Basic shpuld be basic, not EIB or Centurion. And awesome! I'll go ahead and grab a pair of TK boots, and possibly have them worked on to have the flat sole.
11. So I've run into a dilemma regarding boots. So IB boots doesn't make their boots in my size (they call it my size, but they undercut. My shoe should be something like 12.5, and that is their highest size), and Crowprops takes forever to ship (Anovos style shipping, except without communication), so the only other maker besides Corsair kids (I really don't want to go with them) is TK Boots. They make OT boots as most of you are aware. So in regards to the CRL, the FOTK CRL says for the boots that TK boots for basic approval are permitted, is there a possibility we could do that with this CRL (especially since these TK's go directly into ANH)? It would be a lot easier having a TK boot that's been resoled on the bottom to have the flat sole.
12. Because we have a CRL in development for this trooper, and if someone wants a helmer for their armor until a more accurate one comes out this (modded) fills that quota It doesn't matter if it's a toy or how it's constructed, it's how it looks. If it is modded to look the part, construction shouldn't even be a problem. This modded is a R1 helmet, and if it looks a curate enough, then it shouldn't have any major problems. Besides, vac formed plastic thin enough could be called "Halloween mask cheap." And for the CRL, we are settling for things that reflect the image of the suit in the film, but not 100% perfect. As time goes on and more kits are made, then it will be more detailed. The Black Series should pass basic with mods, judging by the current requirements for the CRL in development.
13. Sorry I haven't posted anything for a while. Been having problems with painting the helmet a new white. Hopefully once the weather gets warmer I'll be able to paint it with a friend. Anyhow, until then, hope this thread has been of help to everyone! Will have more soon
14. Yup. Oh! I thought you were doing this CRL with Tim. I think that's been part of the confusion on my end. Thanks for letting me know Also, HD reference in this video!
15. Hey Tim and Daetrin! Something to add to the CRL discussion. What if weathering for just a normal TK was an option? In R1 you have the TK's on the Mining Colony planet that are transporting Jyn and the other prisoners to a labor camp. Even has a bit of a close up with the "I thought we had everybody" trooper. I found this online as well. It confirms the glossiness of the TK's paint job. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWYOJru3n6c
16. Oh ok, my apologies I was a little confused as to what was going on.
17. Oh, so you don't need me to write anything further?
18. Mine won't be till the end of this year. With my TK I was thinking I could use that to help with some things, but still remain a non member until the end of this year. If it follows the guidelines pretty close, maybe? I would have to tweak some things to get it to level 2, but it's definately on it's way to basic. Just acquired my shins last week
19. I like this idea. But they'd still need a reference to work from wouldn't they?
20. As of right now, my costume is still in the quarter phase. I won't be able to provide any costume reference for people that get in without the CRL until it has been finished. Give me this week to come up with an updated version of the CRL draft. I'll share it here like last time
21. Bumping the thread: will try to make a better worded draft sometime this week. It will be very much the same, but will have word revisions and maybe a few more details and things concerning the level categories.

If anyone has any new observations they'd like to point out, please post and I'll include it in the revised draft
22. Probably when at the Death Star there's the shootout with Luke and Leia when they swing across the cavern to the other side... before that when the Stormtroopers get shot and fall down the cavern...

I want a job as an extra in Star Wars as a Stormtrooper that dies.

Well that's not my favorite scene but it's what I could do someday
23. I'm not sure why it's not considered canon honestly. Star Wars Rebels showed TK'S with pauldrons and ranks. I think it was a white one that went to Darth Vader and was referred to as "Commander." I know, they're animated, but we have realistic CRL'S for the Clones of The Clone Wars show. It can be done I think.
24. Edit: Problem with pics fixed
25. Rogue One TK helmet in the house! So since my mods to the helmet in this HOWTO thread for the Black Series are to make the helmet pure R1, the biggest thing that bugged me was the height of the brow. As you all saw in an earlier post, I used electrical tape to cover the white underside of the original brow, but it just wasn't enough. There was still too much of a white gap between the eyes and the brow, and overall, the helmet just basically let me know it's not an R1 helmet, but rather, one that strikes me as a larger version of the OT Sideshow Collectibles Sandtrooper helmet. The other day I cut up a bit of some extra weather stripping (same as the neck hole trim earlier) and glued it to the front. I left the ends of the weather stripping on so that it would go around the top and bottom, and now it looks so much better! Also in the first pic I just painted it with the Ace Hardware Gloss White Enamel paint. That will come at a later step.
