    DLT with a strap! I wouldn't mind that. I also like the look of these packs, they are a nice hybrid of the original packs in ANH and the SE packs.

    $500?? My helmet has started to crack already. Totally not worth that amount.

    It really depends on preference. I'd recommend trying the helmet pass suggested above as they aren't terribly expensive. I've also seen people use baseball helmet padding among a myriad of other setups.

    Try sticking some foam in your shin to keep it pushed forward to avoid getting stuck under your thigh.

    Also note that there are different configurations of backpacks for TD, depending on what trooper your basing your costume on. Ant that the TDs in the special edition also a different style backpacks.
