  1. aw man mark - that is gawd awful just give it to me; I will make sure it doesnt see the light of day and save you the embarassment ;P nice one mate. gorgeous (despite being a ESB heh)
  2. I know of this guy - its basically all recast FX guys, including the helmet. yes you can get it on the cheap - depending on where you stand on the recast issue (and believe you me, in TK world is one confusing situation). the other UK based seller is chimera bespoke. they sell FX armour with a SDS battle spec recast. As far as the 501 is concerned though - its ok, cos although they have a stance on recasting, they dont take individual action on members who choose to buy recast armour despite our best efforts on this board. What a great choice - even with all the info already available on these baords good luck with your FX recast mate. ps dont follow the guys electronic guide - think he recommends using hot glue to put the armour together. sgt jb - I couldnt agree more
  3. rather than a bigger helmet; I prefer the more screen derived size, esp.ly good if ur head fits in it. Having said that the MR CE is a nice middle ground between the old FX and the screen derived helmets. here are several options instead of going for a bigger helmet: (1) get an old set of spectacles and install the lens behind the helmets lenses (2) get some contacts - I did for biking; and it was a happy circumstance that I can use it whilst helmet wearing I got a AP, TE2 and a MR CE. Had a FX. Personally I would not use the FX if I was entering the hobby now purely from a aesthetic point of view.
  4. thought I'd bump this up as there seems to be some people who arent aware of this douche PT or pirate trooper armour its recast WITHOUT permission of TE2 armour Tony is one of the nicest guys out there, and he pulls one mean suit of white armour. dont want to clutter Alex's thread, and perhaps he got his armour w/o knowledge of its origins - thats all fine. I hope it goes well Alex. congrats to the admin for cleaning up that thread too and the nordic garrison for taking such a stance. for the people praising the armour - can we just remember that it is recast WITHOUT permission of TE2 armour WITHOUT permission being the operative words. thank you
  5. thanks for endorsement mate ;P Darren - I blame the FISD for taking it that far!! lol I originally wanted just to do enough to get clearance. but you are right, for the time and money - its prob better just to splash out on a ATA; and its mroe accurate as well! anything else lmk mate - I am just down the road in teesside Nate
  6. i really like the MRCE I think of it as an everyday helmet that I wouldnt mind lettin anyone handle my TE2 and AP are purely for display only heres and old link - hope you find it useful --------
  7. nice mod mate not to be picky - but that seam join at just below the frown still looks pretty obvious? not sure abt individual GML requirements, but if I recall correctly - this is one of the mods required for clearance? here are pics of mine for comparison and explanation of what I meant abt the seam line:
  8. well...... I would say ATA cos of its origins and I like the look of it better - but drop a line to SL9135, he once chose a FX over a TE2 at the end of the day - its ur choice mate FX has lots of inaccuracies, but I think its ABS. No need to paint, easier to put together ATA is closer to being screen accurate with links to TE/TE2 armour and some other complicated mix; I think its made of HIPS? not that up to date. given a choice - I would pick ATA over FX anyday though, as I dont do any heavy duty troopin
  9. if its bluish - means the paint wasnt mixed well enough mate I get that too in UK - vigorous shaking isnt enough, you need to get a stir stick of some sort to really get it mixed up well. if you think painting the frwon is difficult - wait till you try and do the stripes in the traps!!
  10. hey guys - I am looking for a set as well perferrably UK based, but beggars cant be choosers! cheers Nate
  11. ok Nate (SL9135) - fair point, those are the rules and we should abide by em. like I often say, I have nothing against the 501, its an organssation that does alot of good. Congrats to the detachment leadership for makin this decision. I also heard of a the new movement regarding recasting w/in the 501 following the discussions on CE, TDH and RPF. THats only a good thing. Like Mr Bungle was sayin - the more 501ers taking a hardline against recasting the better. TK-recruit - I would thread carefully. such arguments have been had for a long number of years. we all agree wot we to is fundamentally ilegal and all infringements of IP. But there is a code of honour amongst replica prop collectors. its clearer cut on the original fan sculpts, less so with props cast of original props. I view both in the same light. recasting is stealing. sayin it doesnt matter is niave, and actually bad for the replica prop community as a whole.
  12. well done on yer Paul although, I find it odd that the 501 charter would serve to protect this recaster if he were a 501 member, but due to his lack of membership, you are able to do what is the obviously the right thing to do. I can se how your hands may be tied by this charter. but from the outside - this almost reads that if you are a recaster and part of the 501 its ok (cos we admit it wrong, but will not waste our time dealin with it) but if you are a recaster but NOT part of te 501 - oooooo thats bad. at least in this case - the right thing has been done. Nate
  13. also remember that the material is impt ABS - has softer details, but more durable HIPS - sharper details, but slightly less durable; just compare a TE2 suit to a AP suit; look at the forearms.
  14. wow didnt even hear abt this mate Andy - is a a real standup kinda guy and top notch bloke. never for one minute did it even cross my mind that it was recast based on ur previous VOCAL views on recasting fan - made stuff. I have Keiths mikes, never seen urs Andy - but if past performance/practise (and we are talking abt a lllooooonnnnggggg past) is any indication; I cannot believe that this part is anything more than an original fan-make. aside from being active on clone boards - he is also our detachment armourer!!
  15. aww man - soz to see u go too man. I sincerely hope its only temporary and hope to catch up with you soon again mate I have yet to make it to any troops, being more into the prop side of things. hope to still see u posting on forums though!! take care and all the best in tthe future
  16. congrats nate. wots happened to Chris? just retiring I hope - pass on my best regards mate
  17. www.trooperstore.de, Chimera sales, imperialarmour stormtrooper shop UK - all recasters. Depending on ur point of view - personally I believe that recasters are bad for the hobby; although not all share that sentiment. I would hit up TM if possible for a set tbh. alternatively, there are lots of Europe based troopers sellin up kit from time to time. You are certainly in the right place to look for one! If u arent in a rush, wait for one of em - FS threads often come up here. The only other 'official' armourers are US or Canadian based.
  18. make sure its within cmd prompts when u put it in mate (img) at the start and (/img) at he end with the () being replaced with [] as an example - I have replaced the letters img with the numbers 123; when u are writing post ou go here is a pic of my forearms [123]photobucket link[/123]
  19. i really worry abt u Nate ;D a ghost head too???? nice thread & find!
  20. 2 main says - dremel em out or like Murray said above; heat the glue that holds em into position. I didnt have a heat gun - I just used the head from a light buld, heat it, wiggle, then heat and wiggle again. its literally just glued on. I had a link to my MRCE mod; just search my threads for the link if u like
  21. yeeesh mark - when did this happen?? congrats man! Nate
  22. I really like E6000 - strong and flexible. The flexible part is key. the only problem with it is the 24hr cure period. plastic weld does indeed melt plastic. I use a combination of E6000 and CA glue. The CA glue holds edges together and prevents moving whilst the E6000 cures and gives it the eventual strength.
  23. think u are missing the point here mate - Mr Bungle is talkin abt the NGB maker recasting em not these 2 guys. German Garrison guys are sayin that NGB is a legit maker making accurate lids in germany the NGB helmet share common traits with established makers helmets. Its been hinted that the NGB is an own sculpt - we are discussing and looking for proof either way its a little confusing as the original discussion has been "sanitised" - a policy I dont completely understand. any mention recasting seems to be deleted, with relevant information deleted along with it.
  24. hard to say wot its origins were - although from the pics I would agree with smitty "TE, TE2, CAP" stable the links provided by stefan - basically showed the completed lids - not the WIP of his molds. until its origns can be clarified - shouldnt this thread also be kept to a objective discussion rather than a load of "showoff my helmet" pics? stefann - could I get the makers email again pls; our discussion in previous thread has been deleted.
  25. congrats man! soz never got in touch abt the FD vader - wife shut that down very quick! Nate
