  1. lol glad u found it useful although I must say - if u have a TE2 lid; why are u mucking abt with a MRCE??!! lucky sod ;P
  2. seems to me more and more people are doin this. and the original WIP I used no longer seems to have piccies included. And I have been told my own pic-by-pic has been a little bit helpful to others in UK. It is a true newbie/idiots guide though as I am new to all this myself heres a link to my WIP on the UKG public access forums. I hope it doesnt infringe any posting rights on this or the UKG sites. If it does - let me know and I will repost al the piccies here again. it aint the definitive way of doing it, but its the way I approached it having gleaned info from several different threads. I did mention this on my UKG thread, and I wil say it again though - Thanks to Luis, Noel, Riveting (steve) and cranky http://ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19182 hope others will find it useful Nate
  3. yeah that was me before I owned a dremel heated from the inside - but u got to be careful cos of heat warping the surrounding plastic. I went for 2 min, test, 2 min, test and eventually it tugs off. hope that helped
  4. i'm at this point myself... think skullworx offers a all in one unit, along with cable tidies. as for space - speak to Daetrin - think he once mentioned stuff all this electronics into a AP bucket. myself - I went for mix and match cos it fitted my spending pattern better
  5. rofl thanks guys Daetrin - I can so identify with that; I have resorted to hiding some of my lids in the attic at the moment; then rushing out to garage to work on em. you would think for a woman with no interest in star wars, that she would not be able to tell that much difference between soem of these helmets, but she can. love all my lids, bought a few recently as well which I dont even know whether I'd ever build a full cossie of. so a TK, custom mando, biker and a clone arent too much? was in fact gonna mod my plain white clone for use as commander as well - OSCS selling off B grade clone stuff atm and picked up extra chest/back and thighs for a Neyo. glad to know that I am 'normal' Nate
  6. I think I posted the piccies on here of wot I did. I heated mine from the inside, but becareful, too near or too long will warp surrounding plastic. I tended to go for less heat and tugged hard for mine. 1-2 min on - test, 1-2 min more test test test, yet 1-2 min more.... arrrggghhhhh TUG! plop there you go ;D I posted my step-by-step overhaul on the UK Garrison Public Access area btw; its kinda of a newb's/idiot guide to the mod as I had no experience with this whole costuming thing prior to modding my MRCE - titled MR CE overhaul (imaginative title huh!) post pics of progress - love watching these come together! Good luck
  7. or are u talking abt the MRCE? which then there are 2 methods: power tool method - dremel it out non-power tool method - heat the plastic and rip it off; I used heat off a light bulb rofl. Nate
  8. right - I am starting to get worried now. I started on this forums whilst researching a TK I am now regularly checkin out BSN, TDH and CT.net lids alone starting with a basic MRCE and Rubies biker lid, I now have 2 Fett lids, 1 phase I clone, 1 phase II clone (with Bly nocs), a Neyo lid, a KS biker lid I got a TK kit; made up a FX then sold it on to fund buying MIkes TE2, got a Atin sittin in garage, parts of a custom mando, and thinking of some biker stuff too! blaster - Hasb E-11, 2 DC15S, 1 DC15L I would post piccies - but dont want to give the wife evidence against myself! oh gawd, have I lost it or is this pretty normal with costumers/prop collectors? Or do I need to seek professional help? Nate
  9. aye they look like ur standard short equestrian or chelsea boot. but at that price - they wont be much cheaper tahn the caboot boot is it? Nate
  10. deepest condolences to you and yours my prayers are with you. Nate
  11. ah - if u are gonna go the whole hog like that; it might just be better goign for a ANH accurate lid. this is the way I see it - I like the MR CE because it is symmetrical. I did want it to look like a sanitised lid close to ANH, rather than BE a ANH lid. Potential problem with wot u are planning is that u are gonna try to make a symmetrical product fairly asymmetrical ie changing the WHOLE thing. Not saying its not possible - just saying there are easier ways to do it. Too many curves and twists to give u exact measurement IMHO. Also; poeple have only widened their frowns; I think if u widen it to true ANH accuracy; it will start messing abt with top/ bottom lip too much I know AP does some "2nds" lids for just a little bit more than a fully modded MRCE and those lids are more ANH accurate. And yes - my MRCE overhaul is in the public area of the UKG forums. have fun matey
  12. I have only heard of the clone armourers doing that - in their seamless looks should be ok I think. But I would do wot u hav e- ie test on a small place thats not visable. but there are easier options - bondo, milliput, silicone have all been used Nate
  13. I take it u know this site mate - http://www.starwarshelmets.com/ great resource. also - dont think theres a hard and fast rule. the MRCE QA was never quite 100% so diff people seem to widen diff amt. IF u want to check out my lid - its now completed over on UKG forums Nate
  14. pending sales details - I should be coming to a deal with Nathan. dont worry guys - I will give this suit a home it deserves Like to see a man with strong opinions Nathan (I noticed ur views re: SC vs MC on TBs too) only thing to say guys - is I want to gotighty whitey TK with the suit - hope every1 isnt to dissapointed Nate
  15. lookin good there matey ;P cranky - hadnt realised u hit elite - gratz man Nate
  16. lookin gd of course u stil got weathering etc to do - just remember to paint the screw heads Nate
  17. darn hope not too late to post I get wot u are sayin Luis - really I do. Money is tight everywhere now. if I had only USD100 to spend on Meatstock or MR CE. I would spend it on MRCE despite its obvious flaws. not sure how much people know me on here or other forums - but I have a rather rigid personal stance on recasting. I know 501 stance on it and respect that from that point of view. I also realise some people buy recasted stuff w/o prior knowledge. But to knowingly buy a recasted item is a big no-no in my book (for wot its worth) and something I would personally not do. Emphasis on the personal - so not tellin u wot to do or passing judgement. yes - from a pure econmoic point of view - USD80 shipped is quite a deal. and superficially it looks nice (it is a TE recast after all) BUT... from a personal principal point of view; it wouldnt sit right with me and I would rather spend the cash on the MRCE. I would probably sleep easier too. I have often missed out on some juicy deals on here or TDH due to being over concerned with origins of things; some call it stupid. but hey ho - its all opinions anyway. But I do agree with the opinion that supporting a recaster does harm the hobby as a whole in the long run. Not meant to offend any1, but it has to be said. Good luck with purchase and mods Nate
  18. oops Noel - soz; I did make a link on ur behalf to ur overhaul; but I did credit you though Jay - oops forgot to add; same here re: MR CE modding or armour questions. Just drop me a pm Nate
  19. hang on a minute Jay before u rush in and spend ur hard earned money have u gone through the various armours that are available yet - divided into budget, accuracy, availability? I would certainly spend a few weeks perusing various armour threads and sending a few choice pm's to various people before making a purchase. Almost as a rule - dont go with ebay unless u know who the seller is. At 1st glance - looks like FX I mean at the price of the ebay set u got featured above looks appealing; and he does have 100% feedback. AND the piccies do look good. theres a very reputable dealer on here that can sort u out; maybe for a little bit more cash, but quality would be assured. theres a good post by TomG ----- check it out! good luck mate Nate
  20. yep kenny it ss as the boss above said. in fact - theres a nice little sticky in the UKG public access site near the top that takes u through wots makes it aceptable and possibly the locally sourced materials to do it ;P Nate
  21. hey kenny - lookin gd matey u got UKG forum access sorted out yet mate? Nate
  22. ello - there are quite a few MR overhauls listed. Original tutorials I used were here - ----- Thanks to Luis, Noel, Riveting (steve) and cranky. Only thing to say is that Luis WIP was a nice step-by-step walk-through the mods seems to have problems with the piccies atm. u are also welcome to look at my on WIP conversion on the UK Garrison Public Access areas (details pm'd to you) Lastly - welcome to FISD! Nate
  23. i'd wait for it to dry, then carfully with a knife - score the offending overflow and TUG! I love the stuff. Had to cut and pull of a whole seam of the stuff when I had to re-do a mistake on my Rubies biker lid. Its strong and flexible - just the ticket when puttin a kit together! Nate
