  1. looking good matey cant answer any of the painting questions - as I am kinda stuck there too. w8ing on my UKG forums registration to come through (abt 2 weeks now ) to seek out UK preferences on paint As for ur other questions - crack in putty - if it were me i I would have stopped priming and re-puttied. But since u havent (which is fine), and if the cracks are small, and since it IS only behind the ear - can use some white filler to fill. "...An acceptable and easy cost effective solution is White Flexible Silicone Sealant..." was suggested on the UKG site for filling the frown space - could be used for ur cracked bit too i guess. link - http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15988 ....forgot to fill the groove from under each ear - I was gonna leave mine un-filled on purpose tbh. Also gonna for for right eye bump to try and get that Dave M feel. Too bad cant get Dave M decals for a MR CE yet ... run left chin - if u are really bothered - should be able to sand it out easy. I would be mroe worried when it comes to the over lying gloss though. Although I have been advised lots of thin coats rather than fewer thick coats. Good luck mate!
  2. good luck mate! I hear they are a b**ger to do!
  3. agree with No'l and you got the peeps on the boards too (check out Noels website for yet somemore MR CE overhaul ideas - I like wot he did with ears!) And always remember - there is no mistake too big that u cant fill with putty/bondo
  4. rofl cat bread - try it mate ; Luis guide is really really comprehensive and straight forward. I was kinda anxious at the start of my stunt conversion - but having so much fun, I have ordered a 2nd MR CE in the hopes of going hero And I've done it w/o a dremel in sight
  5. mmmmm clones must admit being drawn to AOTC standard grunt In addition to the 501 detachment - another valuable site is------------ although that one is NOT affliated to the 501 Drop me a pm if u like ALex - been making the slow in-roads i(reading boards abt 2 months only, and I think I kinda figured out wots goign on) into finding out more abt clones.
  6. just update - ordered items arrived in 7 working days. he answered all my 3 POST sale emails w/in 24hrs
  7. not that I know him that well - but I did pm last week to ask him abt some decals and send best wishes - still no reply hope he's ok sidebar - Eddie; ur daughters TB ROCKS man!! great piccies and she just looks so chuffed to bits to be trooping with daddy My wee girl is only 1yr old at the moment - she can fit COMPLETELY into a FX helmet lol
  8. Looking good man. Been slowly gathering courage to start this - but real life keeps gettin in the way apologies for being a bit of a newbie here - but painting has always been one of my down falls. Even back in the day of airfix models etc. Always ok with the crafting bit, but my painting was always sh**e mind if I ask u for an idiots guide to painting pls? so far - wot I have gathered from Lius and No'l threads is : sand (220, 320 the 600 wet and dry) primer 2-4 layers white - colour of your choice, layers?? varies alot, i see u are goign 3 to 4, some have gone for 10 etc questions: (1) do you sand between primers? I note Luis in his tutorial seemed to have applied primer layer after layer in 1 day (2) do you sand after primers gone on and b4 white goes on? (3) do you sand in between whites? one other question - not related to painting - wot u doin abt decals? tried pming mike - but still no reply Thanks and good luck
  9. nice progress Terry - I is very jealous I went FX in the end - yes, I am cheap. Doing a MR CE overhaul for a lid. Might be hitting u up on clearance advice when I come up for it too
  10. nice with heating up the glue mate - might try that instead. terrible with power tools I know wot u mean abt the ears though - I whittled mine a little too much and theres more space than I intended. Gonna putty over cut areas - but hoping to leave space between ears and helmet. Hope mine turns out as nice as urs (and No'l, and Luis etc etc)
  11. Looking good so far mate. how u find removing the hovi mikes? had problems with removing the ear central lugs as desribed by Rivetting - so kinda anxious abt starting the drill attack of the Hovis Also - whats ur plan with the ears - u gonna putty em close to helmet or leave the space? Good luck with painting - eager to see outome !
  12. okay just making me jealous now. just erm-ing and ah-ing abt the T-Rails - was wondering whether to go DH2 suggestion of using a wiper blade..... will post pics once done - warning; I am slowest modder in the world; got a 3 yr old and a set of 1yr old twins to run after!
  13. cheers for reply Lou mods to go ahead then!! weeeee being british; I am going for low tech version (read - cheap). Hacksawed off bits that u did, but thinking of using a bottle cap to cover the end and bondo OVER it
  14. apologies for reviving this thread. Love the mod - think the little extra in the front helps loads! Was gonna try this mod myself, when I got thinking abt the nozzle extension. Being made entirely out of bondo and "stuck" on the end of a Hasb E-11; was worried that the a potential point of weakness (ie the join), is in a place where the blaster gets quite a bit of stress - I am thinking as its pushed into holster, or clanking abt whilst in it. Have u used this modded blaster on troops or is it for display only? If u have used it - any concerns abt the nozzle extension? Thanks
  15. as stated above - wanted to run something by the more experience modders here. I was doing up my E-11 Hasb with some bondo (or the UK equivalent see later in post) - and I quite liked the stuff. then was also doing up my MR CE and reading through tutorials etc. And I see the favoured putty is MMD putty. now - my question is can BANDO be used instead of modelling putty? Actually more accurately, as I know you CAN use it, are there pros/cons to using bondo on the helmet mods. APologies ahead of time if I appear a little n00bish 2nd part of my post - just wanting to clarify some things abt US/UK differences; and I think its abt right: US Bondo MMD putty UK Isopon 48 Mulliput pls let me know if I got this wrong 3rd question abt the glue - read posts abt glue used, and realise every1 has their preferences. Was however following Daves Garage vids and have found some Devron Plastic Weld in UK as well (the 2-part epoxy stuff). UK builders with experience with this glue? Any good? Alternatives u prefer (available in UK ofc) Thanking u ahead of time
  16. hey TH1138 glad it was resolved. was motinoring this thread as I am currently finishing a transaction with the Stormtrooper shop - he is currently still within his delivery deadline, and hope it pans out as far as communication though - sent 2 emails b4 sale and 2 after sale - all of which were answered withing 24 hrs; so cant fault him there. TK 4224 - "....normaly you should get a kit around 200-250 pounds..." yep thats abt right; or if really hold ur nerve, under £200 (inluding postage within UK). But be warned - it is a RECAST.
  17. from wot I gather - armour assembling gets in ur blood. I am starting with a FX kit, just cos if I mess that one up; it is only an FX AP kit is sweeeeet; but would be afraid to muck it up though would one day like to go on to AP, TE and TM's but my wallet just wont co-operate. also, spurned on by Luis - my next project is the MR CE overhaul - I know it aint perfect, but I liked the un-modded MR CE too, just amzing wot can be done with it though!
