TK bondservnt replied to vecspeed12's topic in General Weapons Discussion
this is not a star wars blaster. it is artistic interpretation. -

lucky man! -
I would download the clips that I needed from youtube and re arrange the clips by using youtube's editor. then re-upload with a new soundtrack.

search returns no results many many times. firefox with everything cleared out. if I search for a username I get no results. I searched for the term "my hero" and got no results.

that sounds great! hopefully this kind of information can be helpful to provide the help a trooper might need.

I think the google tool looks much better than the babel fish tool. the babel fish does not handle the site's graphic layers very well. if damian chooses to use any of these suggested methods for translation, google also allows original language speakers to provide a "better translation" and that upgrades the google tool itself. so, in essence, the google tool can learn from human interaction. the drunken language translator tool would look great with some empty beer cans and cigarette butts in the background graphic! has anyone in this thread looked at how completely the tools suggested translate the entire board? there is no need for a special section. just links on the forum to instantly translate the entire board into the specified language. a drop down menu box with the appropriate language links could be placed inside the header TPL of the IP board. if a cultural section was developed, and users manually translated sections, then this would start to create a huge server load of repeated data. a cultural section in my opinion should have links provided to translate the entire forum. not just individual human translated posts.

we also have the folks at google: who provide a second source to check for accuracy: Google translate tool

those links translate the entire board, not just the skin! just create an interface that leads to any of the links on the babelfish website and you have an instant interface with all the posts translated WITHOUT adding anything or doing any work. this is one happy trooper. I've known about translating pages on the fly for a long long time! it would be up to the staff to post the links in any fashion they would want. it's just a simple URL that translates the entire board depending upon what you paste into it. a series of FLAGS and images could be added to the toolbar and you'd have instant post translation. and you're correct... the translations are not perfect. but it's a step in the right direction? isn't it? I'd have to ask dimian to take a look at the links and browse around. the translation of babel fish has improved quite a bit. or you can do the test and produce the results yourself richard. hope this helps take steps in the right direction. for me, I see the entire board, posts, and everything translated completely. into the languages asked for. Dimian can also prove the accuracy of the translations shown. babel fish has been around for a long time, and translating threads in here should be no problem. or just add this code to the entire website: Cut and paste this line of html into your page: <script type="text/javascript" charset="UTF-8" language="JavaScript1.2" src="http://uk.babelfish.yahoo.com/free_trans_service/babelfish2.js?from_lang=en®ion=us"></script> babel fish post heading in dutch: Aankondigingen Aankondigingen van het Personeel, Webmaster, en Admins van het Bevel van het Detachement. same post back again from that into english: Notices Notices of the staff, web master, and Admins of the command of the Detachement. works fine

having all the controls translated into those languages is as simple as adding the translator into the forum. but adding the posts as translated content would require another extensibility. for an example try this page in spanish: the board in spanish the board in german the board in french problem solved. # Section d'Ʃchange culturel par Dmian IcƓne Aujourd'hui,

ya know? it could be just DHTML. with the graphic and a background. then FWD to the academy. it would be just like the old intro. heck... put the old intro facing page up>? having a 10 second flash intro with a server load of less than 100kb is easy. I would like to request the background graphic and the original crossed blaster graphic. then I could post both flash and dynamic html for you to look at and discuss. sound like a plan? just PM me with the URL's of the graphics you would like used. thanks... I just want everyone who FIRST enters the site to see it, and I can code it for viewing a single time or multiple times. losing that branding makes that logo less important. and I like the logo, and it matches my patches but now we only see the white ESB celebration image... which is great!!! it's just better to have the detachment logo on the site prominent. microsoft silverlight is not an app that everyone has on their machine like flash. and you have to use plugins like moon, for linux. those are all "emerging tech." but have not been introduced as 'mainstream' cross browser, code. it's not as robust as a simple flash swf with no scripting, and no server access. it's just a static container with no permissions and no threaded connection. so there is no risk what so ever. html 5.0 is just a doctype. and a scripting format. which is just the new codebase for developers wanting a plugin environment that is more cross browser compatiable. but who needs to write an xml file to make a simple flash animation. which in this case is backward compatiable to flash 6. (which nobody has) oh and by the way, the code here would fly on a mobile phone. I'm just wanting to see the Tried and True logo with crossed blasters on the first page as people enter, then it should FWD to a landing page on the academy. there is no reason at all why a landing page intro would play each time a page is loaded. I think just because I said animation, you're getting off track. and it's not as complicated at all. dhtml is animation with static photos using the users computer to calculate the DOM (document object model) and then animate layers or DIV blocks. it uses no scripting plugin. thus we can have animation without server load, or plugin. go ahead, click my link below my banner. it's flash. the whole site is flash. music, animation and photos, with links to important stuff, like this site... small, powerful, and no security risk... And here's a flash animation example. ( 82.8 KB with the html weighing just 725 bytes (less than a kb of filesize!) The FISD example. I can make it any way you'd want. even have some music... perhaps the imperial march? The FISD example with sound. 233kb swf 745 bytes html

KKPPPOWW... HHHEEEEZZZ for that static sound.

those all look different. little details, just a little off? weird?

Lot's of great compliments on the new design theme. I especially like the change for the members who don't have a photo. the shield design FISD logo. and on that note... would it be possible to have a flash intro or somthing like that using the shield logo? in our graphic representation that logo being missing kinda makes me feel funny... the esprit d corps created by that logo should continue! thanks for listening...

those blasters look like buttered black toast.

the end cap is wrong, T tracks on the originals are not rubber. the cost is high for what you're getting.

make sure you have a TSA approved lock setup on the tub.

it looks like the clip section is not at the correct angle on this cast. it's supposed to come out at an angle. the hengstler looks really bad. and it's not the correct kind. the front sight detail, and all the other details look like a Master Replica's casting. you did a nice job on the trigger, don't put yourself down.

you could sculpt your own armor. you could use the measurements of a kit. soon there will be detailed measurements online here if you wanted to try your hand at making some of your own bucks from photos and measurements.

How do you transport your armor?
TK bondservnt replied to Shovelheadjedi's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
you can get airline approved locks so that it will fly. you actually need em. -
Hengstler counters?

very soon I"m going to have working replicas with internals. -
I've never made the paste myself, but some people say that you need to make sure that you keep it in an airtight container, and watch out for fumes. the color can come out darker, and it's not a foolproof method... use a glass container ect. keep us posted with pics! when you trim out your next brow trim cut the ends square, then leave enough trim to cover the gap. if you cut the base of the trim it will fit on each side of the upper ear. by sliding the slitted trim over each side of the upper ear allowing it to cover the gap fully, and extend to the top of the ear. this way the trim does not have to fit just inside the faceplate. it can extend via slitting the bottom to lay over the faceplate trim, onto the cap and back, at the upper ear. hero helmets resemble the MRCE and the brow trim goes all the way to the top of the ear but is square. there are some who cut the brow trim at an angle. while looking a little original, the angle is not screen used.
-
you could use ABS paste to fill in the depression. it would match the helmet exactly. just chop up all the trimmings and put in a glass container with a little acetone solvent. sand the area a little and put the paste into the spot. after the paste cures you can polish it up with a little sanding film and then follow up with the 3 grades of novus polish.
