The Best Sterling Templates EVER!
TK bondservnt replied to ZeroRoom's topic in Templates and Blueprints
I'd like to see the end cap lug area of the plan showing the correct outer diameter of 42mm this is looking very nice so far. the sterling smg does not have a single outer diameter. the end cap lug is primary to fitting the end cap to the receiver. it is larger than the tube itself and the end. lucas and I have been spending a lot of time to find a machinist template, and I think I have a source for a tube with a template bonded ready to mill. I also think it would be cool to see the following plan sets come from this effort: ANH e-11 PVC pipe ANH e-11 steel/aluminum tube ESB standard ESB greeblie stunt ESB london prop store if we could have every type of these then it would be great!! how close is the ROTJ BBC plan? I don't have the MGC so I can't help with that. hats off to mark for his work on this thread!~ and we all are pushing for lucas on this thread!! -
super glue loves to run and drip. small amounts of the slow cure work great. you have to be careful not to press too hard or you can leave dimples in the rubber.
-
great detail! makes me want to start over on my ESB lid!
-
when you get to the velcro stages it helps a lot when lining up parts on the AP. that little bit of pressure lines everything up!

the alternatives for TKC should be for larger troopers in CFO armor with a sidegap. since TKC is an ROTJ variant with an ANH helmet you could go with the following armors: CFO small AP small TM larger slightly

How to attach O2 Canister
TK bondservnt replied to Wiggleplum's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I use nuts and bolts to attach clips, with the nuts glued from the inside. bending clips with 1"W x 1/16" T is a fairly easy process with a couple of C clamps and some careful bending. for Authentic props versions of the T det I use the following measurements to get shorter clips than jess 8-3/4" long holes at 1" and then 1- 1/2" from that for the bolts. draw a line on the tube align the metal strip starting at the 1" hole edge and clamp to the line. bend the strip 1/3 over the tube. then looking at the tube you determine your belt line. clamp a piece of metal to the end and bend a 60d bend for the belt retainer. clamp another piece of metal to the strip and using that as a guide bend a 90d bend towards the belt. then bend it over to 180d this should form the proper shape for a clip.. sanding down the aluminum with emery paper about 200g for a few brush strokes eliminates scratches and marks before bending makes for a shiny set of clips. --------- -

if you're using TK 4510's decals then Testors 1138 is a much better match. using pinstripe tape is fine. the humbrol is a lighter gray. -
yeah I remember this topic in the IPM. would be really cool to have a red boarder around multi EIB's. as well it would be nice to have it able to just drop in another photo to the "loop" so when I go Quad with 4 different EIB costumes, we could have it in a series of photos with a basic blend transition. I've talked about dynamically creating GIF from png using PHP before, but here's a guide!~!!! there is a PHP class that can create gif from png. Example #2 Converting a PNG image to GIF using imagegif() <?php // Load the PNG $png = imagecreatefrompng('./php.png'); // Save the image as a GIF imagegif($png, './php.gif'); // Free from memory imagedestroy($png); // We're done echo 'Converted PNG image to GIF with success!'; ?> the tutorial I found might be useful.. 1 header ('Content-type:image/gif'); 2 include('GIFEncoder.class.php'); 3 $text = "Hello World"; 4 5 // Open the first source image and add the text. 6 $image = imagecreatefrompng('source01.png'); 7 $text_color = imagecolorallocate($image, 200, 200, 200); 8 imagestring($image, 5, 5, 5, $text, $text_color); 9 10 // Generate GIF from the $image 11 // We want to put the binary GIF data into an array to be used later, 12 // so we use the output buffer. 13 ob_start(); 14 imagegif($image); 15 $frames[]=ob_get_contents(); 16 $framed[]=40; 17 18 // Delay in the animation. 19 ob_end_clean(); 20 // And again.. 21 // Open the first source image and add the text. 22 $image = imagecreatefrompng('source02.png'); 23 $text_color = imagecolorallocate($image, 200, 200, 200); 24 imagestring($image, 5, 20, 20, $text, $text_color); 25 26 // Generate GIF from the $image 27 // We want to put the binary GIF data into an array to be used later, 28 // so we use the output buffer. 29 30 31 32 ob_start(); 33 imagegif($image); 34 $frames[]=ob_get_contents(); 35 $framed[]=40;// Delay in the animation. 36 ob_end_clean(); 37 38 // Generate the animated gif and output to screen. 39 $gif = new GIFEncoder($frames,$framed,0,2,0,0,0,'bin'); 40 echo $gif->GetAnimation(); 1 $fp = fopen('animegif.gif', 'w'); 2 fwrite($fp, $gif->GetAnimation()); 3 fclose($fp); tutorial link with example files HERE

Well, here's my Doopy Doos E-11...

very nice bolt! where did you get it? very few criticisms for accuracy sake: paint the inner spring black. and the hengstler is just a bit too far back. on the front sight block you should add a rivet pin for the point of the front sight. really really nice looking there!! wow! muzzle looks nice with the new hex bolts. and you added the silver tips to the hengstler clip now that's a nice touch! even added the correct profile and button tab to the magazine! WOW! -

it's not just the grip. it's the bolt inside an open tube with a spring. for example ERV's E-11 x is only a partial demill and might not fly in the usa. I have provided photos and I can provide measurements. my purpose in posting is to support this effort. the folding stock does not function if you don't have the following details: 1) spring loaded sliding front lock supported by a series of tubes sliding inside each other. 2) spring loaded end cap with end cap lock that functions. 3) perfect alignment to the grip and front lock hole. 4) swivel mounted in the exact position compared to the grip, front lock and end cap lugs. if troopers mount existing parts onto a metal tube without the DEMILL law being followed then they could be arrested. the goal is not just to show how you could re create a receiver, and mount parts to it. the goal should be to show in plans the REAL dimensions for everything. don't rely upon "pipe that's available" if these plans are to be the exact plans for a sterling then i want to support that effort.!! plans have already been created by me for the 40mm pvc pipe, and they were modified from the BBC plans.. the problem I see is that plans have been produced for PVC pipe dimensions like 40mm but 40mm is wrong! 38.1mm od and let's see how a sterling bolt would fit inside a 40mm pvc pipe. the goal of these plans should be sterling accuracy, not the continual confusion about pvc pipe. and I personally believe that any plans showing 40mm will always be wrong. -

the folding stock arms are very complex, and follow a curve on 2 axis. they are not just curved arms that are flat and level, they follow the curve to align with the locking lugs to match the rear end cap. the end cap is also spring loaded and is PRESS FIT on the end cap lug, and moves horizontally to allow the Folding stock arms lugs to seat into the end cap. -

so basically you have the folding stock plans incorrect. -

also the folding stock on a sterling has a spring inside it. the front lock and butt cap are all spring loaded inside the center tube. the arms are not the only detail.. .you're missing the lugs that lock onto the end cap, and since you don't know that the folding stock is spring loaded you're just showing the outside of the device. the folding stock on a sterling has the following parts: Butt cap. but cap release plate and springsteel plate folding stock arms, with lugs and pin locations main tube with sliding inner front lock main tube spring and pins swivel points and swivel press fittings. here's a section of posts of me showing in photos how the front lock moves and how the spring plate works: Well troopers it's time to look closely at the inner workings of the folding stock. far different than what you might expect when looking at plans and such on the web. this complex part alone, before I owned it, was very detailed. now what I have read about, in some descriptions I knew it had somthing inside it that was missing from all the "replica" parts out there. making your own functioning folding stock that locks into it's positions could be done, but without having the part in it's original form makes it a job of guesswork. -

sterling tubes are 38mm the end cap lug is 42mm and the cap fits on that. the entire tube is NOT 40mm the best solution for a sterling build is to follow the gun laws in your jurisdiction. you SHOULD NOT make a receiver tube with sterling parts mounted onto it without first conducting a DEMIL construction of the receiver. to comply with GUN LAWS even the star wars set had to make NON guns according to specific laws based upon the area where filming took place. for example, if you have a moving bolt with an inner spring mounted with all parts for the Full auto trigger group you could be arrested for "the attempt to make a fully functional full auto firearm" the blasters on set in california for example, had the following modifications: A SOLID METAL PLUG FILLING THE REAR OF THE RECEIVER TUBE NO TRIGGER NO BOLT, just a piece of silver tape over a solid steel welded plug NO barrel, made of wood, for looks.. like on film MAGAZINE plugged and unable to chamber a round. don't even get the idea that a sterling tube is 40mm that's from the BBC plans for a PVC pipe. -

do you have the armor yet? -
I use small dabs of quick grip glue and very small dots of crazy glue

I take a piece of nylon screen material, black in color, and then I use white duct tape at the top and the bottom of the screen. I double layer the screen by folding it lenghwise. using 2 sections, one for each side of the helmet I align and press the screen into the lid. by using white duct tape you can remove it for cleaning or for CANNON events.

wear those inside the rubber ones.
