TK-42114 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status [RS][511]

UNAPPROVED! I missed something.... NOT! -
Just the chest. The rest I used gaffers tape IMO resembles the counter edge material the best. BTW tomorrow there'll be a huge build update. Started adding the greeblies, decals and gaffers tape. Here's a couple pics of the semi-finished TD.

TK-9369 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status(ATA)[515]
ukswrath replied to Draco's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hey Jose, as you may or may not know Gaz has retired from the DO business. Sly and myself will be finishing your application. Let's take a look. Thank you for updating the suggestions requested by Gaz. Unfortunately your thigh ammo belt will need to be updated before we can continue. The CRL requires the ammo belt be mounted using a solid head cap rivet, you used a pop rivet. Once replaced please paint them white as well. For level two certification (if applicable): Thigh ammo belt is attached to thigh with a solid head rivet or fastener in the upper corner and fastened to the lower thigh ridge. The solid head rivet attachment is painted white. Standard pop rivets are not allowed Once you complete this and post a new picture we can move forward. You're almost there trooper -
TK-42114 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status [RS][511]

Hey Brian, thank you for your SPOT ON! EIB application. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All photos have been submitted and your armor represents all necessary elements for Expert Infantry. That said, we would like to welcome you to Expert Infantry Other-Armor Assembly/Fit: Well done on an outstanding build. As Ian stated "Stella". We have absolutely nothing to add here. We expect to see you at Centurion. -
Looking good Terry

No, not specifically but it won't matter for approvals. As long as the mounting rivets are centered between the last box and thr end of the belt. -
Trogdor's first build (mtk)

Hey Joe, I have a concern regarding your waist belt, though it's not mentioned in any CRL the fact that it bunches up near the edge of the ammo belt may be of concern at Centurion. At L3 we want you to look your best and the belt bunching up like that may effect how it looks overall. May I suggest either sewing another layer of heavy fabric to the back side or as some have done insert a plastic strip between the layers of fabric giving the belt some rigidity. Keep up the good work -

Inside 45 corner is to be 3", cloth belt width. As Scott mentioned the calves can have no over lap connection at Centrurion. It has to be but and strip as shown below. -
EXCELLENT!

I used foam blocks, the kind you find in electronics packaging. Nice and light but firm enough to make the pouches look full. -

I used the devcon to fill the gap and corners a bit but that's because I didn't want it to crack in that area. -

Sorry for not stopping by more often Bryan. As David said let it stick out a bit but not too much. If you haven't glued it already, in the pictures above it seems to be protruding a bit too much IMHO. -
Looking great Michael

HOWTO: ukswrath's First Order Heavy Gunner (Flyye) Vest Modification
ukswrath replied to ukswrath's topic in TFA Stormtrooper
16. Drop box assembly. Note: My drop boxes are being made to be functional. Re-install drop box mount into clip pouch. Place drop box base on foam mount. Using the 11/64 drill bit drill through the base, foam mount and vest. Note: I suggest labeling boxes as you go along, but it's up to you. Once the hole is drilled, from the back of the vest place the machine screw through the hole exiting out the drop box. Align box, drill and install second screw and nuts. Check alignment. If all is ok drill and install remaining boxes. At this point you can install the covers using your own technique, or in my case my inner and outer drop boxes were the same size so I needed to remove the return edges leaving the base flat. Using a band saw I ground away the return edges. Prepare the outer cover. Mate the upper and lower pieces. Reinstall base and recheck alignment. And finally, making them functional. I planned on using magnets to hold the cover to the base. How I did that was add magnets to the lid. The magnets will connect to the protruding machine screws. Using the following magnets, place the magnet on the end of the screw. Place the cover over the magnet and base. Ensure the magnets ate touching the outer cover. Remove cover and add E6000 to magnets. Reinstall cover and place something heavy on cover to maintain constant pressure. Let dry. Note: Make sure your boxes are centered. Finished. Note: Place a small amount of E6000 on the bolt end and nut locking the two in place. -

Continuing... 15. Side pouches. In this section I'll be building two side pouches from the bulk Cordura fabric and foam. The toy pouches Starting with the same foam used for the clip pouches. Measurement and cut to shape. Measurements are... 30mm deep, 70mm wide, 120mm tall Completely cover the entire foam with the Cordura fabric (smooth /shiny side towards foam). Use CA or E6000 to secure. Note: perform all gluing at the back as the glue may bleed through. Making the pouch lid. Using the dimension pictures provided create the lid and lid base. Lid. Measure and cut fabric. Using the following measurements, fold and sew three edges. Lid base. Using the following measurements, fold and sew two edges. Glue lid base. Using the following measurements glue lid bast to front of block. Glue Lid to base and block. Finished -
If everyone likes it and is in agreement it looks like to the movie version then I'll start selling it in swatches, cheap.
-
No, it's a special mesh fabric I purchased from the UK. Black gaffers tape is placed behind the fabric black side up then taped to the back of the chest.
-
Painting short update. Back from the body shop OMG!!!!! Helmet looks and feels like a professional racing helmet, hard to tell in these pics. Chest plate with fabric. I think you'll agree the pill hole fabric is spot on. Need to do a bit of trimming on the pill hole but very satisfied so far. Center chest with gaffers tape. Pretty close ... and chest (without greeblie). I really need a better camera to display the full beauty of this armor.

Yea I know they're made by Tifco, finding a supplier that doesn't want to sell you 500 pieces is the problem. Do you know of a supplier?
