  1. I have a regular WTF kit and it’s been solid for the past 3 years. I have also built 2 others while building two for charity. Walt and crew keep improving their molds and can say for a fact that they just keep getting better. That being said ALL of the makers on the vetted list make fantastic kits and it really boils down to how long you are willing to wait and how much you want to spend. Jim Moser TK-50899
  2. Spec Ops detachment is the best place for those answers. Walt does make a Shadow kit however. Jim Moser TK-50899
  3. Welcome to the world of white armor. I am looking forward to seeing your build progress. Take your time and measure and test fit a lot before cutting. When cutting cut a little less than you plan and test fit again. You can always take more off but putting it back on is almost impossible. Have fun!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. All H.I.P.S. is is High Impact PolyStyrene. It’ll work okay but at 2mm it won’t be as durable as ABS of even a slightly lighter grade. It’ll be super easy to trim though! Jim TK-50899
  5. I have a Walt’s kit and it has everything need to assemble a complete helmet minus whatever type of padding you are planning to go with. You will need to purchase whatever type of strapping material in order to complete the actual armor. (The nylon webbing, elastic, split rivets, brackets, etc.) The rest is common to all as far as belt, under suit, holster and boots.m, you’ll need to buy those separately. You can always reach out to an attaché with any additional questions and we’ll get back to you ASAP with an answer. Welcome to the world of white armor! Jim TK-50899
  6. Give it a black base coat all over. Then mask off the rail, t-tracks and pistol grip. Hit it with the hammered finish. The counter should be smooth. The scope can also be hammered finish too. -Jim Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. If you shape the screen over the flat end of a AA battery they will slide in perfectly. That’s what I did and I have a Walt’s kit (pre, screen included with kit) Jim - TK50899
  8. So, the search continued... I originally set out to just get something fun to have for Halloween and the like, but after all my research, it seems much more worthwhile to get some proper armor. Joining the 501st is also something I've always wanted to do (I'd just figured I'd do it later), and reading this forum has gotten me even more interested. I'm gravitating towards an RS Propmasters pre-built (ANH, ABS), but admittedly I'm having a bit of a hard time justifying the cost. What other options would people recommend? I'm about 5'10, probably 160-165lb, so I'm generally pretty easy to fit. I'm pretty hesitant to have to assemble a first suit; I'm not overly crafty and wouldn't want to spend the money only to mess up the trimming/assembly. If it helps, I'm in the Bay Area, so the Golden Gate Garrison would be my local. I follow their Facebook page, but all the Events are just their public events; I'm not sure how to go about finding armor parties and the like. Can anyone provide advice on how to find local armor parties? Also, any suggestions for/against going the RS route would be appreciated. Finally, is it realistic for me to, if I act now, get a suit by Halloween this year? Thanks in advance everyone; such a great community. Your local Garrison should have their own forum and that’s where you’ll find the info on armor parties and local events. There should be a new / prospective member section where you can comment. As for armor all of our approved vendors are great some like RT mod are meant for bigger folks (not you) so RS, ATA, WTF, etc are all fantastic and will fit once trimmed properly. I troop Walt’s TK kit and it has held up well these past two years. He has a FB page and a lot of support there. He’s usually pretty quick to get your kit to you as well. That being said my Garrison has just about every other maker represented as well and they all look great! That’s just my personal experience. Here’s the link to their web page, use the contact us link at the bottom. http://www.501stggg.com Jim M TK-50899 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Even better than messing with a mixer! Can’t wait to see this one completed! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. You can dump the sound file into a free mixer utility like Audacity and manually add the “silent second” then export it back into whatever file type you need. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. AM and RT Mod were meant for larger frames (and noggins) and are proportionate to the armor when assembled. The eFX is a nice show piece but you probably don’t want to troop with it or cut into it just to make it approvable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. None of us were experts when we started. [emoji6] get in contact with your local garrison and go to an armor party before you spend your money. It may give you the confidence you need to have a go! Best of luck and we hope to see you trooping soon! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. .....and it will be much lighter than a real demilled Sterling. Just finally got to hold a real one this past weekend and at well over 9 pounds (4kg) I decided that a real one isn’t as attractive as I had once thought. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I guess my aversion to rubber gloves is a call back to spending 8+ hours in full chemical protective gear multiple times during my 22+ years in the Army. If they work for you, awesome! [emoji846] I'd suggest removing the hand guards from the gloves and fix them and put them on a new set.....OR don't fix them at all, after all if you look at the hand guards used in ANH they are all kinds of cracked and peeling. The natural weathering process you have going on is only making everything more screen accurate! [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I would say now that you have your approval is ditch the rubber gloves for trooping and get either a pair of black nomex flight gloves or you can do what I did and bought a pair of "Gorilla Grip" gloves from home depot (about $5) and affix your repaired hand guards to those. They are much more comfortable while trooping. Accuracy is awesome but comfort wins out for me every time.
  17. This is awesome! I so want to make one of these. It is one of my favorite props from Rogue One. Any chance the files are available so I can make one? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Like the customer's TK #, etc. I'd totally be down for one with my TK # on it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Superb! [emoji1360][emoji1360] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Look up "Rebels Imperial Armory" on Facebook. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. What he said ^^ [emoji4] If screen accuracy is your goal. If you just want a great set of armor then any of the vetted makers will work. The only people that will know the difference are the other folks in white armor. To 99.9% of the people you interact with they will have absolutely no idea (nor will they care) what armor maker you got your armor from. No matter which you choose we are here to get you through the build process! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. They are both great armors. It comes down to which you prefer at this point. Thicker armor will tend to have slightly softer details, but with these two makers the differences will be barley noticeable. You really can't go wrong with the vetted vendors. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. RS armor is a first gen reproduction of screen used armor. It can be made to fit but is really best suited to folks with the same build as the original screen actors (see first post). Taller / stouter troopers should consider AM, RT or TM. Jim M. TK 50899
