  1. This is a great idea and will be a fantastic reference for future EIB applications! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Yep the big bin can by a bit awkward to transport but I can fit it into the back of my Electric Fiat 500! (Of course once it's in there it's pretty much just me and my armor [emoji23]) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Bummer about the neck seal spots. I have a Stanley bin (Husky makes a similar bin) that has a tray and I store all my soft items in there, away from the armor. I also use a couple old beach towels and wrap them around my armor so that they aren't touching each other or anything else. I also redid some of the carpet in my home recently and used some of the off cuts and lined the inside of the bin. It's been working great for over a year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Man I need a better job so that I can have the money to buy all these goodies! (Retired military doesn't pay as good as you'd think! [emoji23]) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. These look amazing. It has been so fun / educational watching this whole process happen. I am quite amazed at your dedication to getting the details right. Great work! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Great news and well deserved! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Mines 3" elastic and almost an identical set up as yours on a 2" wide duty belt. I have my thighs attached with e6000 directly to the elastic and put on my thighs like a pair of ABS shorts! Trooping for a year and have had no issues yet. I didn't want a snap or anything between my skin and the armor to rub or pinch me. To get them hanging the right height I put the belt on then slipped one thigh and stood in front of the mirror and adjusted until it was the right height then marked the top of the thigh with chalk on the elastic. Then repeat on the other side. Then I took all of it off and removed the garters from the belt and glued them into place. Once dry slip them back on the belt and done. Oh yeah, almost forgot the most important part of my set up!When wearing my tactical belt I also wear the buckle in the back which makes it possible to put the thighs on like shorts. 9. Not if you want to apply to be in the FISD as a TK. The screen used armor was vacuum formed, so only vacuum formed armor is approvable. Jim - TK50899
  10. I've found that pepakura is a good way to keep yourself busy during the down time. There are a lot of really good unfolds that are very satisfying to put together and leave you with a nice display piece when completed. Best of luck friend. A lot of us have been there, things will be better soon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Looking great! I was going to mention the Space Marine sized shoulder bells but the other helpful folks already addressed it. So very close! I remember the excitement at this point as well. [emoji51] Jim - TK50899
  12. Just go slow! It's better to make many small cuts to get it tuned in than to over trim. Trust me I did this on my kidney. It all worked out thanks to how easy it is to shim that area but I was sweating it for a couple of days! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. As had been said many many times before, stay away from eBay. It's just better to assume it is than get burned. Until you've built enough familiarity with legitimate armor you won't be able to tell. There are deals to be had on eBay and there are people that sell legit things. For the vast majority legit armor does not fall into this category in regards to eBay. Owning a set of Stormtrooper Armor is not something you want to take a shortcut on. It's an investment of time and $, it is not something you can hurry. If you're looking to be an approved member of the 501st go with the vetted vendors listed in this forum. Take your time, do research, meet with approved members in your area. Most of us spent at least $1000 US all said and done. If you buy crap armor on a whim you will spend a whole lot more because YOU ARE going to be disappointed and have to buy a proper kit. You may recoup some $ by reselling the crap but better to just skip the disappointment and pay for a quality kit the first time! If you're just looking to have a suit to goof around in NOT associated with the 501st, get whatever you want. It's not that we are elitist or a bunch of snobs, we have a standard that we take pride In what we do. We didn't become the preferred costuming club for LFL by half a**ing things. 14. Yes it's from an original grip. I made a mold of the grip so I can make resin copies. I plan to make another scratch build sometime..... Do you need a grip? I can make you one if you are interested. Send me a PM and we can work out details. Jim - TK50899
  15. Ack! Sorry! I should have been more clear. The monoculars I ordered to to strip for parts didn't arrive. Your kit made it just fine and is amazing! I've been wanting to put it together for some time. In the mean time I have been practicing my weathering techniques! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Brian, I truly admire your dedication to perfection. Your stuff looks great. The scopes I ordered never showed up so I am reordering more today and will be doing a build thread on them when the new ones finally get here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. To add to what Joseph said, it is also a good way to see sets of completed armor and ask questions as well. I think my garrison has just about every type of armor available and you get to see the various details up close before pulling the trigger on your chosen set. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. The first post is constantly updated. It is the "go to" place for new troopers. The contact info for AM is listed in the section about the armor. Send an email and they'll get back to you. Patience is the key, they get a lot of requests and for most of the armor makers it is a side hobby. Like the rest of us they have jobs and families and pull armor in batches. Every vetted maker is on the list because they are good communicators and have demonstrated a history of a quality product and reliable customer service. Good luck with your journey in becoming a plastic space man! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up! I tried to cover as much as I could but when you get in the fog of building your forget to take some pictures. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Every time you post an update I am floored at your talent and skill. I wish I had a third of your knowledge! Great stuff! Thanks for sharing with us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. The bottom part swoops forward kind of like a human ear. Cup your hand around your ear like your trying to hear something better, that's the shape to use as your guide. [emoji6] Jim - TK50899
  22. .....um.....yep......that ear is on backward/the wrong side ....[emoji53] Jim - TK50899
  23. Welcome back Emma! We've missed seeing your progress. We had an impromptu armor party in my garage today! Worked on some shimming and how to use ABS paste today. Your gap will be fine. If you want that third rivet to hold you need to use a back up washer on the inside. As you discovered the ABS is too soft to hold that together by itself. As for being asymmetrical, well it's supposed to be, the ANH stunt helmets are all kinds of wonky! Looks great by the way. Can't wait to see more! Jim TK-50899
  24. Adam Savage ( Mythbusters / Tested) makes some awesome cases he does a neat video on weathering a faux NASA case that he built for his microscope. https://youtu.be/YXzxEqdvuIE Jim - TK50899
