S&T(airsoft) Sterling L2A1 to E11 "build" thread
charlesnarles replied to charlesnarles's topic in ANH BlasTech E11
Look what I found to help me with dismantling: Only 2 screws between me and the faux bolt which has a spring-powered mock charging action (it pulls back and snaps closed... even though Sterlings are open-bolt SMGs so it should at least stay open until the trigger is pulled😛). Gotta add the diagonal stripe by actually recessing the rest. It looks like a thin piece of plastic but I think I can do it enough to get the right look. Idk what I'm gonna do with the magazine since the end plate's "OFF-->" seems to be aesthetic and not meant to slide off even though the metal there is cut to where it looks plausible. Pliers! -

I guess the end cap isn't actually slanted/tapered, but parallel to the pipe. Darn! But the cap itself looks thick enough to take to a steel-grade belt sander (I think those exist): I really like the overall look, despite its technical inaccuracies. Sure feels good to hold and it's a great start if you ask me: Here's with my DVH M19 scope sitting on top just for funzies: -

Tried to use a Gazmosis mag but it's way too small for this gun. Too bad, I'll have to cut the full-length mag that came with it: -

The S&T handle attaches differently from the DVH's two screws (no idea how a real Sterling is), so I'll have to just unscrew everything and see what happens: Idk why but they decided to switch around the fire select modes. I put it in between to show all the letters: -

This is the DVH handle on top of the S&T one. Much too big and missing an angle in the trigger housing: It fits on the tube pretty well, which might mean it's 40mm diameter but it's hard to tell without the right tools. Spending all day in an airsoft superstore has clearly affected my subconscious. Pew pew turned to eh-eh-eh for a second there: -

Removing the orange safety tip voids your 45 day warranty... I got mine off with pliers and (carefully) a razor blade to pry it off intact for adding later on for airsoft etc. The front half looks pretty good other than the bayonet lug lacking some details (fixable with a dremel): Muzzle is great other than a small spacer between the sight and the bolted-on nose piece. Hopefully it's removable: -

Is armor safe in the rain?
charlesnarles replied to TheArchdude's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
No experience, but the plastic itself should be fine, as Bill said, as long as you live in an area without acid rain. I'd do it here in CA (no coal-powered electrical plants) but maybe not a great idea in PA or areas that experience acid rain. Hose / salt / chlorine water really doesn't hurt the paint or glue at all?😠-

Yeah that's where the motor is, battery space just inside the end cap. I have a DVH grip I could just glue if the other will come out... maybe. Hard to find scopes these days -

Grip is a rounded rectangle shape (very much like the Disney toy) and the fire select is fully functional (safe, auto, repeat). Looks like the whole grip could be removed but I'm not sure yet. Gonna exchange it at a "superstore" (woah!) so I'll ask them about breaking it down as much as possible. I need some calipers.. -
A heavy brown box came today with my very first airsoft gun: The stock came all bent, but I can exchange it.

The shoulder bells point forward as you wear them. I think Luke or Han has them backwards in a few scenes inside the Death Star (cause their characters wouldn't know left from right either... right?...lol) As for return edges, [EDIT: I found one for just the arms by searching "whitearmor.net return edge": http://www.whitearmor.net/fisd/Tutorial-arms ]

Ooh, resin or rubber? Or secret? How much would you ask for one? Looks great

Like I said, this is a hobby and the community spirit here is one of patience and understanding. It's not like you're ordering from a retail franchise, it's one guy doing all of it in his down-time, including answering everybody's emails lol. You're probably just making it take longer to be honest 😅

Building any trooper is a lot of work. Like I said, people usually shim the sides of the chest, ab, back and kidney pieces for bigger girth rather than modding purely for height. My pieces came and after test-fitting with the untrimmed parts I feel better about keeping it pure ATA. There are some tall TK build threads (Barcode above ya there is a tall centurion) with plenty of details to help you decide which mods to apply to your kit depending on your "morphology" (Anovos' favorite word) but you won't really know which until you can test fit on yourself... reading should help guide you towards a maker

Yeah... before, it was a prototype ROTJ base (round front sight and d-ring on nose). Now it looks pretty darn close to ANH other than the nozzle of which I have an accurate spare! I just got one 😊 And I read you can open up the handle to fiddle around inside. Wahoo! Where are Gino and his t-tracks?

FYI: Tracking numbers are not standard in Europe like they are in the U.S. so Doopydoo is not being shady when you don't get one (unless you fork over the dough). Just be patient and give these guys some slack. Most have day-jobs that aren't making model kits for us all. Just sayin

Difference between DD's complete & pipe kit

FYI apparently tracking numbers are an expensive premium option in Europe so it's not like they're being unreasonable if they don't respond with one when you ask! International shipping is crazy anyhow. Trust in the force. -
Difference between DD's complete & pipe kit
charlesnarles replied to =Sv3='s topic in ANH BlasTech E11
Hey ya,I don't have a 1:1, just going off of dimensions and pictures I find online. The Disney's pipe is 83% scale in diameter but they're the right length at 18.25 to 18.5 inches and most parts are 1:1 (rounded rectangle handle vs original round, but accurate length/width). And you can easily upgrade the tiny parts with those from a pipe kit. We'll have official feedback at some point (idk the protocol). But most 1:1 resin/rubber models don't go PEW PEW!😉 -

I got an ANH Doopy Hasbro conversion kit and it came with a hollowed-out counter (to fit over the old one), and with a scope front piece. I'd be surprised if Doopy wouldn't give you both a full counter and scope with an ANH completion kit (my ESB promo pipe kit from DVH sure came with a scope) -
Yeah, potential is there for holding a circuit board or emergency superglue but they're not very big inside at all on my kit (ATA). Try something and show us how it works out😉
